Sebastien Bacher wrote:

probably doesn't respect the -V option or print something which is not
expected, closing the bug anyway since that's not really a bug

Actually it does seem to respect it:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ $ bin/ssh-wrapper/ssh -V
OpenSSH_4.7p1 Debian-8ubuntu1.2, OpenSSL 0.9.8g 19 Oct 2007

Which is identical to the /usr/bin/ssh -V output.

But yeah, I don't care any more. :-)

[Bug 252817] [NEW] ctrl doesn't work when used in conjunction with shift click for multiple file selection

2008-07-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Ctrl doesn't perform it's expected role of allowing multiple file
selection to occur when used in conjunction with the shift key.

For example, when selecting files A, B, C, D, E:

If I select files A thru C using: click A, shift+click C, continuing to
hold ctrl+click E should allow me to select the rest of the files,
however this is not the case.

Rather it will only select E, so that A, B, C, E are selected in total.

More self-experimentation will show that selection with ctrl+shift
result illogical file selection.

This is a standard feature in almost every OS I have run across, and I'm
not sure if it's just not implemented or if there are key conflicts that
cause this not to occur, but a default install of ubuntu should have
this enabled.

[Bug 252828] Re: gdmsetup crashes in 8.10

2008-07-29 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 252090] Re: File Roller

[Bug 252796] Re: gvfs-fuse-daemon process not killed on logout and not re-used on login

2008-07-29 Thread Gert Kulyk
I can confirm this. It happened for me with all hardy gvfs releases so
far (hardy, hardy-proposed, hardy-updates). While I'm using mostly a
single-user environment, and therefore it is not that severe for me, I
think on machines that are used by more than one person without
rebooting this may cause troubles on the longer run. Any hint how to
debug this properly?

[Bug 251899] Re: gedit 2.22.3 can't open a big file (719.1 kB) correctly

2008-07-29 Thread Jaakko Seppälä
I'm pretty sure it's a text file, since it is a sample input of a
certain programming exercise. When I open it, it looks like those
letters f and g overlaps themselves. As I said, OpenOffice.org 2.4.1 can
open it as well as vi.

In those zip-file mpera.zip there are another files. I guess those are
of the same format because that programming exercise has been tested on
several inputs. gedit 2.22.3 can open those other files well.

[Bug 252877] [NEW] nautilus (Hardy Heron x86): files and directories deleting with no permission issues

2008-07-29 Thread marco.pallotta
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

In Hardy Heron ( 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP x86, nautilus version
1:2.22.3-0ubuntu2), from nautilus, when I try to delete a file or folder, which
I haven't permission to delete, through the key CANC, a pop-up window appears
to me saying cannot move file to trash, do you want to delete
immediately?.Then if I press delete another pop-up windows appears saying
Error while deleting (permission denied). This behavior is ok.
But if I drag the file or folder to trash first pop-up windows described before
appears, but not the second (the one saying permission denied) when I press
delete button. Obviously nothing is deleted.

[Bug 246088] Re: gdmsetup immediately segfaults

[Bug 252796] Re: gvfs-fuse-daemon process not killed on logout and not re-used on login

Downgrading to:

gvfs-bin_0.2.5-0ubuntu1_i386.deb
gvfs-fuse_0.2.5-0ubuntu1_i386.deb
libgvfscommon0_0.2.5-0ubuntu1_i386.deb

does not solve the problem of remaining gvfs-fuse-daemon processes after
logout. Also, the daemons need to be terminated (kill -9), regular kill
does not work. So I guess this problem has crept in someplace else, and
that I didn't notice it until recently..

[Bug 252885] [NEW] Drag-and-drop theme from web page fails

2008-07-29 Thread Colin Watson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

http://www.arsgeek.org/2008/05/31/six-annoyances-in-hardy-heron-ubuntu/
reports that it is no longer possible to drag-and-drop themes from a web
page into System - Preferences - Appearance (Theme tab), as of Hardy.

This appears to be because theme_drag_data_received_cb does
g_file_get_path on a GFile constructed on the dragged-and-dropped URI,
which only returns non-NULL on local files. Something would need to
arrange to actually download the theme if it isn't local.

[Bug 176544] Re: gnome-power-manager: (user) suspend failed on Toshiba Portege R500

2008-07-29 Thread Ketil
Thanks John, that works here as well.

Since you also have a portege R500 - do you have trouble connecting to
new WLANs too? I usually need to reboot to connect to a newly configured
WLAN (I don't even get an IP with DHCP, despite running ifdown wlan0;
ifup wlan0 again and again, but rebooting works), and the System -
Administration - Network tool doesn't list the available networks
unless I run sudo iwlist wlan0 scan in a terminal window at the same
time, and still then they often disappear before I am able to click the
one I need.

Ketil

and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

do you still get this issue? does running shutdown on a command line to
stop works correctly?

[Bug 212098] Re: easy file sharing not notifying about logout/login

2008-07-29 Thread Colin Watson
We should do *something* about this for 8.04.2, whether it be installing
libpam-smbpass by default (probably not a great idea) or including UI
that asks for the user's password to enable non-anonymous sharing if
necessary (seems cleaner). This needs to shake out in Intrepid first,
though.

(Per bug 238224, the first user is now automatically added to the
sambashare group in Intrepid.)
