[Bug 39890] Re: characters change when selecting text
This happens on not-properly-produced .pdf files, with custom encodings but without cmap (toUnicode) entries. Unfortunately, there are a lot of them out there! When selecting text, evince (erroneously) displays the characters that will be copied to the clipboard, instead of the original glyphs. Explanation: There is a PDF specification feature, where one can declare that the character 'A' maps to the glyph 'B'. So if 'A' is written in a pdf text object, it displays as 'B' but it gets copied as 'A'! My English is poor, so I made a ***minimal*** .pdf that reproduces this bug. If you open it in Evince and select all the text, the line that contains BCDΓ should display ABCdisplay artifact when selected! Kind regards, Alkis Georgopoulos ** Attachment added: evincebug.pdf http://launchpadlibrarian.net/16578432/evincebug.pdf -- characters change when selecting text https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/39890 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I'm using ubuntu8.04.Nautilus1:22.3-0ubuntu2. when we try to resize the column width in list view (name, size, type, date) it is not working properly. [Bug 159130] Re: Interactive codec installer should not require restart of Totem
Hi, I just tried to reproduce this problem (thanks for the instructions and the codectest package) but it worked for me. The next that required codecs was the .mpg one, but after installing them (the codecs) it worked right away too. [Bug 255321] [NEW] gedit refuses width resize sometimes
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit When gedit width matches screen width upon opening a text file it allows height resize but not width resize until I turn wordwrap off and on. [Bug 255309] Re: f-spot crashes after export to Facebook is finished
More observations: Since I was watching the first upload (the only one that didn't crash f-spot), I got the idea that it might be important which window is selected when the upload finishes. 5th upload: I selected the f-spot main window (not the progress window). Result: f-spot froze. The main window turned grey; the progress window kept its gtk colors, but was not responsive. 6th upload: Having the firefox window focused as usual.
