[Bug 207072] Re: nautilus does not display samba shares for machines inside an ADS network.
Confirmed on Ubuntu 8.04.1 I have not tried the patch fix, primarily because i am not competent with compiling source, and I do not have proposed enabled because of a bad kernel in proposed. I can see all of the computers in the Workgroup, but I have to manually type in the path to the folder to see it. You have been subscribed to a public bug: In the new hardy version the Samba Network Manger will not send my files to my windows XP computer that is on the TCP/IP network with the copy/cut paste command. I found that I can send files to my windows XP computer by draging and droping them to the windows xp share folder that now gets mounted to the desktop in the new hardy version when accessing a network share. To me this is very serious bug that keep people from accessing there data. Have now verified that the attached patch builds cleanly against gtk+2.0_2.12.9-3ubuntu4 from hardy, and with the resulting library installed, GTK+ apps print correctly. I tested both local and remote printers; remote printers now work when they did not before, while local printers continue to work exactly as they did before. The redhat bug report linked above lists another confirmation, and the same patch seems to have shipped to fc9. (I say seems because fedora is having some infrastructure problems right now.) [Bug 258512] Re: epiphany crashes often on tab closing.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 251105] Re: `tput init' works inconsistently in gnome-terminal, but not xterm, etc.
Hi Pedro, Thanks, I found https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Needing+testing+in+the+development+release and followed the instructions there. Under qemu using Intredpid Alpha 3 with gnome-terminal 2.23.4.2-0ubunut2 and libvte9 1:0.16.14-1ubuntu1, I can re-produce the bug. The attached screenshot has three red Ys in the first `tput init' output and two in the second, none in the third. This is a lower frequency than with 8.04 but I suspect this is just a side effect of using qemu as I think the bug is a timing issue in VTE's handling of escape sequences. With qemu, a whole load of XYs would draw on the screen at once. Natively, I can see them appearing one by one. ** Attachment added: tput_init_bug.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/16868212/tput_init_bug.png -- `tput init' works inconsistently in gnome-terminal, but not xterm, etc. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/251105 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
Re: [Bug 217167] Re: gnome-terminal is Always 80x24. No global or per-profile setting available.
Hi Sam, thanks for the pointers. The first isn't suitable because it's editing a file that isn't intended to be edited by the user and also changes the size for all users on the machine, not just me! :-) The second shows others are having the same issue but there's no solution to have per-profile default sizes. I think the fact that the `ESC [ 8' escape sequence doesn't work in gnome-terminal despite vte's resize_window() code also suggests this is a valid bug. -- gnome-terminal is Always 80x24. [Bug 257519] Re: File Roller With P7zip Broken on Rars
We should not be so quick to get rid of bugs without having consideration to a quality user experience. The gnome feature list states that File-roller (Archive Manager) now uses p7zip to extract archives, so it supports .alz, .zip, .cbr, .cbz archives, .arj, .rar and .iso files. People naturally expect that stated features will actually be included and that they will work without hassles. If the root cause of the bug is that the package p7zip-rar is not present, then the solution should be that this package is changed to require p7zip-rar. What happens now is that rar's under file manager fail mysteriously without any assistance about needing the p7zip-rar package. Im re-opening this to confirmed because its not an invalid bug report. ** Changed in: file-roller (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Confirmed -- File Roller With P7zip Broken on Rars https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/257519 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 213053] Re: Totem is 'uninterruptible'
Would like to say I'm also having this problem. It happens rather regularly too. This time Pidgin is affected, it's uninterruptible and is hovering around the 70% CPU range, sometimes climbing to 100%. All the files it seems to have open are *.wav files, so that may point to it being PulseAudio? Seems to happen to a random program (usually the one opened last) which is trying to play sound - Firefox 3 and Pidgin have been affected so far. Weirdly, however, I have killed PulseAudio, restarted RhythmBox and it's still playing! Even though it hasn't restarted PulseAudio, so maybe I'm not killing the right thing (or maybe RhythmBox doesn't use PulseAudio, which might therefore point to another culprit not releasing the sound device? Stabs in the dark..) It presents itself by making my system sluggish, but not unusable, so I'll leave it on with the program in the background for a little while, see if it relents. If you need more details or for me to test anything, please let me know. It happens rather regularly to me so I'm sure I can get a result of an experiment quite quickly ^_~ -- Totem is 'uninterruptible' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/213053 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I agree whole heartedly with Nullack , a bug brought on by a simple common action that locks you out of your system deserves a higher priority than low . further the repermissioning of / is bizzare enough that even an experienced user might not find it for awhile and if they did not have the foresight to set a real root password rather than sudo ( which don't work when the bug occurs) his install would be toast . -- copy as root trashes my install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/250021 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 257519] Re: File Roller With P7zip Broken on Rars
I appreciate that the RARLABS software is closed source, but RARLABS provides the software as a way for users on non windows environments to extract their format. Ubuntu includes other closed source software in the repos such as the Nvidia drivers. Another example is Adobe Flash. The so called free unrar library (the RARLABS unrar is also free as in cost) that is optionally available in the repos as well is feature limited and not reliable for general use cases in my experience. An example is how it fails to extract multiple volume archives when I tried it. The idea that the required package cannot be included as required for file roller is one which is at odds to other Ubuntu closed source precedents. -- File Roller With P7zip Broken on Rars https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/257519 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
