[Bug 261757] [NEW] nautilus does not open *.svg files directly

2008-08-27 Thread danieloarso
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

In the file properties *.svg files have Inkscape marked in open with
dialog

However, when I double click I get that the dialog (maybe is bad translated to
english) Do you want to open file or wiew its content: file is a text
executable: open in a shell - show - cancel -execute
If I press execute, nothing happens.

So I always have to open these files with secondary click, open with.
But moreover, Inkscape is not in the 5 program first list, so I have to
select open with another app (where Inkscape is 3rd in the long list)

If I mark *.pdf files open with Inkscape, it opens the pdf in Inkscape
directly

Regards,
Dan

In the Rythmnbox Music Player, no matter how I try playing a file, it
appears on all fronts that it's playing, except it doesn't, and the time

appears to work normally, except there's nothing to pause of course.

[Bug 261780] [NEW] MacBook Pro: No square brackets - wrong keyboard layout

2008-08-27 Thread oss_test_launchpad
Public bug reported:

On a German PC keyboard, usually square brackets are produced as
follows:

AltGr + 8: squared bracket open
AltGr + 9: squared bracket close.

MacBooks Pros have no printed indication on the keys how to produce
square brackets (AFAIK this goes for all models), so I assumed you could
produce them the PC way.

I assumed that the key second right to the space key (= the one left
from the LeftArrow key - you can see this nicely on
http://www.oliverherrmann.com/stuff/mbp/MBP02.jpg) would have the
function of the AltGr key you know from PCs. However, when I press
this key whose name I don't know, plus 8 or 9, I get no square
brackets. Instead, this key works as Return key.

This goes for Ubuntu 8.10 Alpha 4, fully updated. Ubuntu installed, then
System - Prefrences - Keyboard - MacBook / MacBook Pro (Intel). The
MacBook Pro is a rev. 3 one.

[Bug 261789] [NEW] Tasks preview are not word-wrapped

release update for hardy, since this improves usability quite noticeably
and is obviously safe.

[Bug 260617] [NEW] Gnome stays shaded when Power off-button was pressed, even after Cancel

2008-08-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After pressing the Power button as well as pressing the power off in the
main menu, Gnome stays shaded when I press cancel. I can hardly see
anything on the screen, only logging out helps.

This affects Ubuntu Hardy 8.04. Does anyone know why? By the way, (drop-
down) menus stay ligthened.

[Bug 252174] Re: gvfsd-trash crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch()

2008-08-27 Thread Bruce R
Ubuntu 8.10 x86 LiveCD Alpha-4 release (kernel 2.6.26.5-generic)

As a non-expert user I just had difficulty finding a PC that would actually
load this LiveCD session and it then wouldn't allow 'at' key entry for logging
in to make this report (I had to use Ctrl_V of a text file created on another
working PC to do that)
The Alpha-4 x86 LiveCD wouldn't even load on an E2160 or on an E4600 based PC.
Fortunately, I had someone's old 2.8GHz Northwood PC that I could try and it
promptly generated this error report.

Meanwhile, keep up the good work folks !

[Bug 209520] Re: SMB error: Unable to mount location when server configured with security=share

2008-08-27 Thread oss_test_launchpad
I have the following problem, testing with Ubuntu 8.10 Alpha 4+, trying
to connect to a company SMB network server share. Nautilus tells me:

Could not display smb://servername/myshare$/ - Einhängen des Ortes nicht
möglich.

This worked ok when I used 8.04. However, nautilus shows the share as
mounted (gets a shortcut on the left side, as a cd would which has been
inserted into a local drive). When I press the eject (unmount) button
for this share, I sometimes get the following error message:

Could not display smb://servername/myshare$/. Fehler: DBus error
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.InvalidArgs: Mountpoint Already registered - Bitte
wählen Sie einen anderen Betrachter und versuchen Sie es erneut.

I entered my account data the first time I tried to connect. Strangely enough,
in the properties you can see how many files there are on this share and how
much data there is all in all, but the file list cannot be displayed.

I reported this bug under
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/216465. However,
going more into it, I think this was the wrong thread to report this to.
Is this thread I am writing in now the right one, or should I open a new

[Bug 21637] Re: xkb greek polytonic: cannot write psili and dasia after upgrade to breezy

2008-08-27 Thread iaenus
Sorry, but I not english speaker:
I solved in this way:
I didn't modificated neither Compose file neither gr file.
I had spanishlayout and installed greek polytonic, with the GUI of Gnome.
I saw the composer combination didn't work in greek
I correct /etc/environment with the line export GTK_IM_MODULE=xim
export QT_IM_MODULE=xim
I copy Composer en_US.UTF-8 to .XCompose (this archive seem to have the
combination Composer of the predefinide language)
  cp /usr/share/X11/locale/en_US.UTF-8/Compose ~/.XCompose
and works.
The changes of gr file (U0313 and U0314) are not usefull, because the introduce
a combinated acent, not show the real ancient greek character.
about the horrible definition of dead_ogonek and dead_horn, I tried to
changed modificating (keysymdef.h). But the dead_dasia and dead_psili i
think are wrong.
Please, If someboy understand me, rewrite this post correctly

2008-08-27 Thread Sebastien Bacher
you can't attach apport crashes to already open bug but you can open a
new one and close the other one as duplicate though, the best place to
describe the version you are using is the bug description, apport is
enabled in unstable version and should be running, you could open a bug
against it if it's not working correctly

[Bug 261461] Re: F-Spot Slideshow unusable

2008-08-27 Thread direx
Esc does not work.

I am using an NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX (4x AGP), 128 MB GRAM. I've tried the nvidia
driver (included in 8.04) and the nv-driver. With the nv driver the slideshow
is, of course, worse, as it does not support OpenGL.
With the nvidia driver OpenGL works fine, Desktop effects with compiz also work
very well. With the nvidia driver it sort of works (with and without compiz),
but still I can neither quit the slieshow not pause it. I also cannot skip a
picture.

F-Spot did not really crash. But since I could not quit the slideshow I
killed it.

[Bug 261516] [NEW] Changing keyboard layout to Macintosh failed

2008-08-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

 affects ubuntu

In a fresh installation of Hardy, fully up-to-date, with no previous
~/.* files, I cannot change to the correct keyboard layout. This means
that I can't type a hash, which can be important when programming :)

This follows a problem I had a few days ago where I pressed a key on the
keypad and the keyboard layout went completely wrong. Most of the keys
didn't work at all, and some of the letter keys were recognised as
numbers. Changing the keyboard layout did not help, nor did rebooting. I
deleted all the ~/.gconf* and ~/.gnome directories, then logged in
again, and that worked.

While the keyboard layout was completely b0rked, I did manage to run the
commands suggested in the error message, and they came out as pasted at
the end. This is the same as the more recent but less eventful layout
failure.

I'm using a one of the newish Apple keyboards, the thin ones, connected
by USB.

The error message:

 Error activating XKB configuration.
It can happen under various circumstances:
 - a bug in libxklavier library
 - a bug in X server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities)
 - X server with incompatible libxkbfile implementation
