I see the same problem appeared yesterday after I updated Ubuntu Hardy/Gnome . I am unable to suspend or hibernate because there are no buttons in any app anywhere now!! [Bug 19498] Re: lastest evolution shows neither tasks nor calendar
Hi, i'm sorry I'm acting like an asshole. I'm working for free just like everyone else here, I think. I REALLY don't know what I'm doing, aside from clicking on things that look promising, and doing what looks best. I abandoned code for music because music is eternal and changes only for the sake of joy and truth. Meanwhile, I'm trying to suck it up, and do stunt-coordination for a start--up theatre company, among other things. Is there a way I can find my files in console? I'll probably have no problem protecting the actors, but can I protect the show? I'll make the journey, If I know what spells to cast and what weapons to carry, in order to protect the magic of the few artist in my land who even attempt to tell the truth. Okay, I'm on stunts, not script (Shakespeare's got that covered), Is anyone still here? Am I the only one that missed the boat? Well, it's always nice to see the ocean again, and the gulls posing for the shutter-bugs on the fishing-boats...reminds me of my childhood. Just works. My files are still there somewhere. That's fine, but once I've rectified the problem and mounted the drive, the desktop keeps displaying my home folder, despite options set in gconf-editor, and after countless logouts/reboots. [Bug 262589] [NEW] Seahaven cheats :) wont play queen to king
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-games This is the second game in a row where it wont let me put a queen onto a king in the Tableau, they are of the same suit. I have attached a screenshot. The version I have here is AisleRiot 2.22.3 running on Ubuntu 8.04 I expect to be able to play the queen of clubs onto the king of clubs. What does happen is I can move the jack but not the queen. The first time it was with diamonds, same thing, queen to king would not happen. This also goes for shared configuration in 6.06 to 8.04 - i.e. sharing your profile between LTS distro's is not possible. [Bug 256256] Re: Unacknowledged reboot required before folder can be shared
Reproduced on current hardy. The problem is that the user gets added to the sambashare group, but the group membership won't be refreshed until the user logs out and back in. It's not really a samba problem, it's more a problem in the design of that nautilus Sharing Options dialog box. It should make clear that the user won't be able to share folders until he logs back in, or do some magic to get the extended rights immediately. ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid ** Also affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Unacknowledged reboot required before folder can be shared + Share folder: session restart required before folder can be shared -- Share folder: session restart required before folder can be shared https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/256256 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 212098] Re: easy file sharing not notifying about logout/login
this bug was not present in 7.10 and is therefore a regression. i do not think that you should have to relogin/restart the computer in order to start setting up shares, that is way too inconvenient, and you didnt have to do that in gutsy. instead, how about automatically restarting samba after installing the sharing services, that way you dont need to restart? or you could make it so that samba is never started in the first place until you are finished installing the services, or something like that? whatever. it doesnt matter how its fixed, as long as its fixed in the best way possible. :) i do not want to have to logout and then log back in to start sharing stuff after installing, many people will find that inconvenient and will be annoyed, even though it only happens once (it shouldnt happen at all). -- easy file sharing not notifying about logout/login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212098 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I reinstalled 8.04 and the problem went away. I know this isn't as satisfying as finding and fixing the problem, but it's really nice to have everything working again. [Bug 212098] Re: easy file sharing not notifying about logout/login
Jessie - The problem isn't that the Samba daemon needs restarting. The problem is that nautilus-share (which was introduced in to Hardy) uses a feature of Samba called 'usershare', which allows the administrator to control who can add shares. The administrator does this by adding users to the 'sambashare' group. Members of this group can then add and remove shares. The maintainer scripts for Samba automatically add all users who are members of group 'admin' to group 'sambashare' when Samba is installed. However, the user won't belong to this group until they log out and back in again (and I don't think that there is any way around that). This wasn't a problem in Gutsy because the usershare feature wasn't used, and users were not added to a new group when Samba was installed. In Gutsy, only administrators could add/remove shares. Hope that clarifies it a bit. -- easy file sharing not notifying about logout/login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212098 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
