[Bug 267635] Re: Moving item changes focus when it shouldn't
Great Idea! I would kick this bug up a notch and allow the user to ctrl- click or shift-click multiple items and bulk-move them (or for that matter allow the user to turn them off in one click when multiple items are selected). That way you don't have to keep navigating back when moving a lot of items as you say. ** Changed in: alacarte (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- Moving item changes focus when it shouldn't https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/267635 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to alacarte in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

When I has Hardy I can't control backlight for AC even battery. Now I upgrade on Intrepid and I can control backlight on AC. But only in gnome-power-manager with slider. [Bug 211632] Re: vlc does not play files from a bookmarked smb share
It might also be worthy to note that this issue can be caused with the way VLC handles the SMB access. If you are trying to connect to an SMB share through VLC it will apparently use its own SMB Access Module which looks to default to using the current username and no password. This can be changed in the VLC settings to use a different username/pass/workgroup. This can cause a problem if you're accessing a windows share that requires a password, or if the username you're using requires a password on the windows share. For me, I have the user jrennell on the windows machine where my media is and I log into Ubuntu with jrennell. Since jrennell is a user on the windows machine, trying to log in as jrennell with a blank password was not allowed. Changing the access module to anonymous allowed me to open files from nautilus without a problem. I had the exact problem described in this bug report, and could open then from the file open file method through VLC. -- vlc does not play files from a bookmarked smb share https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211632 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 236953] [NEW] gedit crashes browsing fileselector ssh locations
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When using gedit to browse a mounted sftp location for a file to open, or when browsing the sftp location to save a file, gedit will crash when using the breadcrumb (history) buttons to navigate. How to replicate: 1) Add a bookmark to an ssh location which contains a couple of layers of directories 2) Open gedit and choose FileOpen... 3) Click on the new bookmark and navigate down a directory tree a couple of levels 4) Use the breadcrumb buttons to go back to the top level of the bookmark 5) If gedit hasn't already crashed just navigate back and forth a couple of times using the buttons, it invariably does. This also happens on Save and Save As.. which can lead to losing work. [Bug 239167] Re: high cpu load on startup and when mounting
I think I found the problem. Instead of copying files to the new user home I hided some directories (chown to root and chmod to 700). Here is a list of the directories in my home with number of files and size. opt: 12912 files / 349M bin: 168 files / 1.9M data/Desktop: 498 files / 6.1G data/Documents: 306 files / 78M data/Download: 39 files / 703M data/Misc: 17 files / 11G data/Projects: 10087 files / 435M data/Public: 0 files / 0M data/Resources: 219017 files / 22G data/Software 2196 files / 8.7G I could avoid nautilus' high CPU load after hiding data/Projects, data/Resources and data/Software. Un-hiding these directories step by step again increased nautilus' CPU load and nautilus UI usage latency. My first guess was that nautilus simply has problems with directories containing a lot of files. On the other side the directory 'opt' had no impact on the problem. The actual problem with 'data/Projects', 'data/Resources' and 'data/Software' was that I configured my '~/.config/user-dirs.dirs' like this: XDG_DESKTOP_DIR=$HOME/data/Desktop XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR=$HOME/data/Download XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR=$HOME/data XDG_PUBLICSHARE_DIR=$HOME/data/Public XDG_DOCUMENTS_DIR=$HOME/data XDG_MUSIC_DIR=/mm/Music XDG_PICTURES_DIR=/mm/Photos XDG_VIDEOS_DIR=/mm/Videos After setting XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR=$HOME/data/Documents XDG_DOCUMENTS_DIR=$HOME/data/Documents and running $ xdg-user-dirs-update $ xdg-user-dirs-gtk-update $ killall nautilus the problem was away, also if I un-hided the 3 problematic directories. So I guess because nautilus considered '~/data/' as a document folder, it did something it does not do with normal folders - whatever it did, it could not handle the large number of files within '~/data/'. -- high cpu load on startup and when mounting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/239167 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 239167] Re: high cpu load on startup and when mounting
Just want to add, that the xdg-user-dir setting also explains why the CPU load and usage latency got worse when mounting a remote share - the mount point was below ~/data/ . -- high cpu load on startup and when mounting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/239167 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 264273] [NEW] Creating a shortcut of KSnapShot on the Desktop leads to a path error when using the shortcut
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I installed KSnapShot via Synaptic on my Ubuntu box. I noticed the following problem of the box of one of my collegue : I dragged and dropped the KSnapShot launcher from Gnome menu to its desktop, but when running the shortcut I got an error. In French it says Erreur lors du lancement de l'application. Détails : Le changement de répertoire « » a échoué (Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type), which I may translate in Error when launching application. Details : changing path to directory failed (no directory or file of this type). I inspected the ksnapshot.desktop file produced by drag and drop : there is a line Path=, and that's all. Filling the path with something like /home/user (where you must replace user by the name of a real user) solve the problem. I consistently reproduced the problem on my personal box.
