[Bug 104807] Re: Support for Videos

2008-09-09 Thread yetiARC
I like F-Spot, but as the typical family snapshot photographer, I need be able
to watch the occasional video, too.
Funny thing is that F-Spot does show thumbnails of the avi vids, when it
downloads the files from my camera (canon powershot). Why can't it show the
same thumbnails later, and use an external viewer to play the videos. Digikam
does this easily, so I had to switch to Digikam. Please give me video support
in F-Spot and I'll switch back.

[Bug 268012] [NEW] gnome-terminal ignores some custom alt+letter keyboard shortcuts

2008-09-09 Thread Victor Trac
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

I went to Edit-Keyboard Shortcuts in gnome-terminal to configure
alternate keyboard shortcuts using Alt instead of Ctrl, but not all
shortcuts work. The shortcut editor allows me to configure the shortcut
and the new shortcut appears in the menus, but shortcuts for alt+t (new
tab) and alt+v (paste), do not work. The other custom-configured

@joakim, so in fact I can just wait for a few days and then it should

[Bug 268012] Re: gnome-terminal ignores some custom alt+letter keyboard shortcuts

2008-09-09 Thread Alan Pope
This is unsurprising given the ALT key is used to bring the menus up. So
ALT+T brings up the 'Terminal' menu, and ALT+V brings up the 'view'
menu. So in effect you have ALT+T assigned to two things. Perhaps gnome-
terminal should realise this and either refuse to let you make the
configuration change, or use a different key to bring up the menus.

[Bug 135548] Re: [Gutsy] Action on critical battery isn't triggered - regression

2008-09-09 Thread Joakim Andersson
Jo,

Well make it a week or two. Running the computer with the electrical
cord in place does not count (although it does add data about how the
battery charges). You can check the progress by right clicking g-p-m in
the system tray, selecting power history and then in that box (near
the bottom), select discharge time accuracy profile. when the average
value of that graph is over 40%, stuff will start working.

What my patch does it fix the gap before it starts working. First and
foremost, caring about the profile even when use_time_for_policy is
disabled is just weird, since the profile doesn't add anything to the
mix at that point. Then, not telling the user anything about this thing
with ignoring actions is just a bad idea, there's no warning anywhere. I
actually fell into the trap myself a few days ago, after installing
ubuntu on my new laptop. Thank god no data was lost, because I was in
the middle of doing quite a lot.

I still think this is a bug, since a developer put in this accuracy
check for a good cause (some broken ACPI's could make the computer
hibernate way too early, according to the changelog), but probably
didn't think about what would happen until the accuracy profile was good
enough.

And yes, you can enable use_time_for_policy again.

2008-09-09 Thread Obleak
Hi Andreas,

Yes it's still the same. (in hardy amd64) though the gtk industrial
tango theme has changed names again

1) apt-get install industrialtango-theme

2) create /etc/gtk/gtkrc and insert the following
=
include /usr/share/themes/IndustrialTango/gtk/gtkrc

style default-text {
fontset = -adobe-helvetica-medium-o-normal--10-100-75-75-p-57-iso10646-1,\
   -*-r-*-iso10646-1,*
}

class * style default-text
=
attached is a tgz showing the progression from default-better font-better
font+theme

(still think a ubuntu gtk1.2 theme would be cool, base it on the
industrial-tango theme and ubuntise the colours in a new gtkrc)

BTW (off topic) xmms is missing from the repos even though the xmms plugins are
still available?
so I've used putty as an example gtk1.2 app

[Bug 135548] Re: [Gutsy] Action on critical battery isn't triggered - regression

2008-09-09 Thread Jo Vermeulen
Joakim, thank you very much for the detailed reply.

I also found out suspend after closing the lid does work after all (I
just didn't wait long enough).

I hope your patch (or maybe a more polished version) will get integrated
in the next release. Do you have a package for this, or is there an easy
way to apply it (sorry, I'm a dpkg rookie)? Otherwise I'll just wait for
a while, I can live with it if will work eventually.

But you are right, it is really bad for new Ubuntu or Gnome users, so it
should be resolved as soon as possible. In my opinion the fix should
even be pushed as an update in the official Hardy Ubuntu repositories.

[Bug 258110] Re: Camera application cannot record video

2008-09-09 Thread Oliver Grawert
yes, but that patch also needs the gstreamer fixes that were uploaded...
as outlined on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates both packages wait
for the quarantaine to expire and two positive comments from testers.
feel free to install them on an image from the hardy-proposed repository and
confirm they work ... the faster we get positive comments on this bug the
earlier i can roll the final image.
cheese is not used in normal ubuntu, so it is not that critical, but we need to
avoid any regressions in gstreamer so that needs very tough testing...

[Bug 259799] Re: Suggestion: support for ecryptfs in Nautilus

2008-09-09 Thread Tobias Wolf
I feel that unless these integration issues are clearly resolved the Private
folder will become a usability debacle.
I think that unless there is really good integration this feature should not be
enabled by default.

1. Presentation: to much technical wording at the moment, too much
understanding of underlying mechanisms required
2. It's an irregular mount, unlike fstab or gvfs mounts. Not handled by
nautilus unmount mechanisms; the copy not move issue, etc
3. Suid root, and hence not configurable and no localization possible
4. Filenames are not encrypted. This is suboptimal for a secure file vault
feature.
5. Should be locked/unlocked in situ, i.e., directly in the view of the Private
folder. This is only possible upstream, I think.

[Bug 42571] Re: eog won't delete images on different volume

2008-09-09 Thread adpsimpson
eog uses gio now and the code issue is likely a different one and could
be a gio bug

This is not a useful response. As an end user, this functionality is
broken, and has always been broken. I don't know or really care what gio
is. Whichever library the problem is in, it is still a bug which I see
in eog, and only in eog. If the underlying reason for the bug has
changed, that's fine. But the bug still remains, so saying it is fixed
is inappropriate and untrue.

[Bug 268079] Re: Please upgrade to 0.23.92

2008-09-09 Thread Sebastien Bacher
thank you for your work on this update, some notes:

- you should describe the changes in the changelog, ie if you add a libcanberra
build-depends it should be listed there
- there is no need to list the patches which are still applied since those are
not changes in the new version
- the new version doesn't use gnome-vfs, the control.in should be updated to
reflect that, the libglade requirement also need to be updated

could you do those changes and update the bug?

[Bug 268119] [NEW] Evolution crashes when accepting calendar event with PGP signature

2008-09-09 Thread Ville Ranki
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution crashes when accepting an calendar event sent via e-mail when PGP
signing is enabled and it
asks passphrase.

1) Start Evolution
2) Accept a NEW calendar event from inbox
3) Evolution asks for PGP key passphrase
4) Enter passphrase and click ok
5) Crash!

The event is added to calendar as next time doing this it is already
in calendar and acceptance message is not resent and the bug
doesn't reoccur.
