[Bug 289686] Re: evolution contacts are lost on upgrade to [8.10] RC

A quick grep for one contact, shows that my contacts are in a database - one
that is apparently not being read.

[Bug 289686] Re: evolution contacts are lost on upgrade to [8.10] RC

2008-10-28 Thread Nanley Chery
And digging deeper shows me that my calendar is still there also, but it's in
not in the '~/.evolution/calendar/local/system/' folder so it's probably isn't
being read as well.
===
See attached: calendar

I played around with my gconf settings before running these commands. I was
trying to reset them (by deleting/restoring .gconf and .gconfd), but restored
most(?) back to normal - I had to restore my evolution from a backup even (but
that was before restoring .gconf .gconfd), so I don't know how valid they are.

I'm sure they'd like to include it in the release

Absolutely.

but things don't always work out the way we want them too.

Unfortunately yes. Packaging the required libraries and ekiga itself
is quite a big task, and unfortunately nobody had the time to do it in
the last weeks, since ekiga 3 was released.

If 3.0.x doesn't make it into main by release time,

There is no if here. It is clear since before the release candidate
that it can't -- there are no working packages for it ATM.

That's unfortunately one of the problems of community distributions,
that such things happen. As for the Canonical side, of course we are
aware that we need more hands for GNOME, and we have looked for
another GNOME desktop maintainer for a long time already.

No, I haven't sent this bug to Gnome yet, though I don't have time to at

bug happens every time I try. On a side note, I recently had to do a
reinstall of Windows Server 2003 for unrelated reasons, so I will try
everything again and see if the reinstall somehow magically fixed the
problem.

send the bug to bugzilla.gnome.org since you seem to be the only one

Same behaviour,

When I'm using nautilus address bar to open davs remote directory :
1) It fails with url like this davs://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/remote/dir
2) It first succeed with url like this davs://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/ but fail when
I want to browse remote directory

The error is always the same :

I know it works fine in 7.10
I wish it works again in 8.10 ... or sooner in 8.04 if possible

[Bug 290204] [NEW] Annoying beep on shutdown using System - Shut down...

2008-10-28 Thread der_vegi
Public bug reported:

Using Intrepid RC.

When shutting down the system via System - Shut down..., there is now
always an annoying speaker beep. This has not been there with the
Intrepid Alphas and was introduced with the Beta or some update after
the Beta. Using the Fast User Switch Applet the sound is not played. I
think the default setting should turn that beep off, as it is annoying
in a working environment like a library.

[Bug 290203] [NEW] Autocompletion of gmail contacts doesn't work

2008-10-28 Thread David Hajage
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I have imported my gmail contact in evolution (under ubuntu intrepid ibex RC1).
Importation works fine.
The google contact list is my default contact list, and I have copied content
locally for offline operation.

But when I write a mail, the autocompletion of the contact doesn't work.
The autocompletion only works when I copy contacts in my personnal
contact list.

[Bug 290201] Re: Totem player often closes when I play a movie it full-screen

2008-10-28 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

2008-10-28 Thread kiko
I' ve solved it. I have moved .gconf folder to gconf-old and now works
fine. It isn't the best solution beacuse I have loosed gnome
configuration. Regards,

Re: [Bug 290098] Re: Totem video player keeps playing in slow motion.

2008-10-28 Thread Tom Muse
I spent 2 hours last night working on it and I finally fixed it. What I did
to fix it was to remove Totem all together and then reinstall it again.
Then there was an update for Totem that I believe kept if from breaking
again. So far so good.

RE: [Bug 289721] Re: crashes when loading some webpages

I have GNOME , but ni nautilus.

Subject: [Bug 289721] Re: crashes when loading some webpages

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport
report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic
 retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
 in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash
 report you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
 /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in
a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to
 report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

2008-10-28 Thread Tom Muse
A reinstall from Synaptic Package Manager worked in the past but this last
time I had to completely remove Totem and then install it again. So far
this has been the only issue I have had with 8.04 on my Eee PC.
