[Bug 281713] Re: evince doesn't print vector images in PDF

2008-11-26 Thread steve hardy
Thanks very much, upgrading to libcairo 1.8.2 has fixed it :

ii libcairo2
1.8.2-0ubuntu1~fta1~intrepid The Cairo 2D vector graphics
library

For the benefit of others, after adding
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/fta/ubuntu intrepid main

to my sources.list I just did
sudo apt-get update

then waited for the software update icon to appear in the taskbar. Then
I chose *just* the libcairo package to be updated, as I was unsure what
the other packages were.

Thanks again for the fix.

[Bug 173350] Re: Caps lock LED changes state even when caps lock is mapped to ctrl

2008-11-26 Thread Eythian
Not for me, although there is a weird thing that xmodmap mappings now
only apply to the keyboards that are plugged in - remap, and then plug
an external keyboard and it'll behave like you never ran xmodmap on the
new keyboard. Remap afterwards, and it behaves like you expect. Are you
possibly seeing something along those lines?

[Bug 118410] [NEW] Preview of a song in Nautilus still playing even after deleting the file

2008-11-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Bug found on Ubuntu Feisty Fawn up to date.

-
To reproduce it :

1) Install mpg321 package.
2) Open nautilus in an EMPTY folder.
3) Put a MP3 in it (I suppose it works with other files too).
4) Select the file.
5) Put your mouse on it an listen to the preview.
6) While listening, stop touching your keyboard and press SHIFT+DEL to delete
the song definitely.

If you stay in the folder where the mp3 was, the music continues. If you
go to an other window, it still continues. The only thing that stop the preview
is going to an other folder with Nautilus.
-

It's a little bug but I wanted to report it. Maybe the file is placed in
the RAM !?

3. open a terminal;

[Bug 288930] Re: Intrepid - Evolution does not spell check or is not enabled by default

2008-11-26 Thread Russel Winder
I just upgraded Hardy - Intrepid and came across this problem that
every letter is deemed to be a misspelled word. It is very, very
annoying. Very few Ubuntu users will see this as a quirk, they will see
it as a disaster. Can I suggest this should be seen as a critical
blocking bug to be fixed asap.

(Along with the disaster that is the neverending update of the cache
files -- in the end I had to stop Evolution and delete the entire IMAP
cache and start again.. This Evolution upgrade is a bit of a disaster.)

[Bug 302416] Re: application close themself

2008-11-26 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 301891] Re: Users without valid login are not presented in Face list, but can login and start shell

2008-11-26 Thread Wawrzek
I can understand that GDM do not allow people to login in if they have
no valid shell, but at the moment you can do this, moreover you can
start shell!

It's not a consistent behaviour of GDM (or saying more Gnome), what is a
bug. (I changed the description to better describe the problem).

BTW. It might make some confusion if you are using NIS to login. You
have valid login but you don't login to one of the system because shell
of your choice is not there.

[Bug 40872] Re: Desktop icons are allowed to overlap horribly

2008-11-26 Thread Dave Vree
This issue was the first bug I noticed with Ubuntu when I started
using it over a year ago. Desktop icon placement and grid manipulation
is not a low priority issue. Newer users (and many veterans) get a lot
of value out of having desktop icons to represent work-in-
progress...otherwise, why even support desktop icons.

What do we have to do to increase the importance from Low to High?

This is one of these issues that really makes me question the entire
FOSS process...is anybody even listening?

[Bug 293832] [NEW] printer prints page at wrong position, page cut

2008-11-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After updating to intrepid, my Brother DCP-7025 printed every page about
2 cm above the usual position. This leads to pages cut as if printing
with wrong paper configuration though A4 paper is set everywhere (Cups
settings, program settings). For example when printing a test page with
the printer configuration tool I cannot see the upper part of the Ubuntu
logo.

I have used both a hardy and an intrepid live cd to test and found out
that the problem only occurs using intrepid, so I think it's a problem
with the intrepid driver packages.

However I found out, that in the printer configuration tool a wrong
driver DCP-7025 BR-Script is loaded. The correct (and working!) driver
is DCP-7025 for CUPS. So to manually solve the problem simply choose
the correct driver in the tool.

I think that during the installation process of the package brother-
cups-wrapper-laser the correct driver is not set to be used as default
driver and the system continues to use the wrong driver instead.

Can you also look for messages containing audit in /var/log/syslog and

Pedro,

If you were talking about the pdf file I submitted, it works with adobe reader
8.1.2 on ubuntu.
I attach screenshots with evince AR.

I suspect either some kind of pdf containing standard pdf page with
error message shown with 'old-style' viewer and alternate pdf format
only shown by adobe products knowing of it, or maybe script detection of
the viewer. but I haven't have a look inside the file.

[Bug 302464] Re: While running, Rhythmbox sometimes crashes when I put in a burned CD or a data CD while it is playing music

** Changed in: rhythmbox (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Invalid
