*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 260812 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260812 Like the other bug said It would be nice if I could double click on the calendar and enter the data there. It would also be nice if this entry would ask if I would like to create a contact entry with the same name as the description field of the Calendar entry Maybe not what some need but it would be easier for some of us and also everything making linux easy would probably make more people to switch over to linux from windows :) You dont need to answer this email just my thoughts about it I will see if there is a change when I update the system! Best Regards Carsten L. - Original Message - From: Richard Seguin ubuntu-b...@transubuntu.ca To: lyngs...@mail.com Subject: [Bug 313426] Re: Can't add appointment in calendar as messages says calendar is read only. Date: Sat, 03 Jan 2009 13:39:42 - *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 260812 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260812 Just an added comment to this report... in an out of the box install if you try and add a bithday using calender it will state that it is a read only calender as the original reporter stated. This does not affect the default calender at all, just the Birthdays portion which is actually listed under contacts. It appears that if you want to add a birthday to that calender you need to list it in the contacts personal information. I'm wondering if the option to add to that calender needs to be disabled if that is not the desired function or if the calender should be marked for write access and allow people to schedule times and such. I still haven't searched for a duplicate report on this issue. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 260812 evolution birthdays and events write protected -- Can't add appointment in calendar as messages says calendar is read only. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/313426 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug (via bug 260812). [Bug 75324] Re: Gnome file chooser/selector is way to small
AFAICS, there's no reason why a well-designed dialog should resize itself immediately after being shown. So the bug is in GTK+, maybe there's something in Compiz too but that's not the real source of the issue. Please check that Metacity does not trigger this before going further on that subject. Anyway, there are two parts in this bug but you won't treat them separately, that's of no use. If you like, go to the Compiz upstream bug report and see what they say, but in GTK+ a single fix will do the trick. And I'm able to experience the bug with a 1024x768 resolution, so that's not the problem. Please stop spamming the report with considerations other than technical: the priority is 'Low' not because the number of people experiencing this, bug because it's not preventing you from performing any task, it's only highly annoying - and read again my previous comment about that. About the update in Intrepid: again, there's no reason it doesn't get into intrepid-updates if a patch is provided in time, read Loïc's comment above. gnome-power-manager doesn't block the execution of these scripts at all. Some scripts (eg, /etc/acpi/sleep.sh) contain a check to see if gnome- power-manager is running, before executing the action. [Bug 240933] Re: gnome stickykey does not work on openoffice
If you try sticky keys you will never want to go back. Sticky keys are part of the X accessibility package. When enabled, it causes the Control, Alt, Win, and Shift (any modifier) keys to stay engaged until the next key is pressed. For example, if you want to hit the key combination Alt-f to open the file menu, without sticky keys, you must press the Alt and f keys at the same time. For most of us, hitting 2 keys at the same time takes 2 hands. With sticky keys, you can hit the Alt, release it and then hit the f key. It will be interpreted as though they were hit at the same time. This is an extremely helpful feature whenever you're using a cramped keyboard, as most laptops have today. Also, anyone who doesn't want to use a mouse enjoys this feature, because it's easier to use keyboard (combination) shortcuts to get around the desktop. Try it and I think you'll become a user. Unfortunately, if you use gnome, you'll get a buggy implementation (search and you will find other bugs about gnome and sticky keys). But, kde-3.5.x has it implemented perfectly (even better than M$)! -- gnome stickykey does not work on openoffice https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/240933 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 313763] [NEW] Very high memory consumption (over 300 megas) and CPU (95% 30 sec) to open a PDF

[Bug 60394] Re: screensaver starts but shows only a black screen
I'm having the same problem on my laptop running Hardy. Screensaver previews work fine, but when I lock the screen, or when the screensaver activates when the machine is idle or when I run gnome-screensaver- command -a I only get a blank screen. At first I thought the problem was due to some misconfiguration in my user account, so I created a new user, but when I log in using that new account the problem persists. I chose the pictures folder screensaver in the screensaver properties dialog and tried doing: gnome-screensaver-command -a ps ax I would have expected to see some mention of /usr/lib/gnome-screensaver/gnome-screensaver/slideshow in the output, but it's not there (i tried the same with various different screensavers all with the same result). [Bug 90925] Re: hardware brightness keys on lenovo R60e are working strange in gnome
I can confirm the bug with an up-to-date Jaunty on my Lenovo 3000 C200. The same thing with brightness keys and applet. I also have a problem with brightness settings : when I configure the system to do not dim the screen after few minutes of inactivity, the setting is ignored and it still tries (and fails) to reduce brightness, what causes the screen to fade many times, while eating 100% of the CPU. Also, when I open VLC, or somme SDL/OpenGl application, the brightness is reduced to its minimal value, and with the first problem, it's hard to restore it. -- hardware brightness keys on lenovo R60e are working strange in gnome https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/90925 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 285283] Re: Bluetooth file transfer to phone fails (from both Nautilus and Bluetooth applet)
Additional informations of my problem: My device is a Palm Tungsten E2 Currently with Ibex: - I can never transfer file from the Ibex PC to the device (like Mary with the 2 methods) - Sometimes I can transfer a file from the device to the Ibex PC (~1 success every 5 trials) - Sometimes I can connect to the internet through dund (~1 success every 5 trials) With Heron, all is OK Then I compare the behavior between Ibex and Heron when I attempt to send a file to the Palm device. Previous attachment compare dbus messages during the attempt for both Heron and Ibex. What surprise me with Ibex record is the number of parameters sent with the command CreateBluetoothSession: We find 3 parameters, but according to http://wiki.muiline.com/obex-data-server/migrating_to_0.4 only 2 are needed. I tried to upgrade obex_server to version 0.42 but the problem remains the same... with the fact I could not transfer file from the device anymore - so I came back to the 0.3.4+svn1951-0ubuntu1 version Next attachment compare the result of the command hcitool info for both Heron and Ibex: It seems that Ibex is not able to connect to my Palm device for reading its features ** Attachment added: compare_Heron_Ibex_hcitool_info.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20898220/compare_Heron_Ibex_hcitool_info.txt -- Bluetooth file transfer to phone fails (from both Nautilus and Bluetooth applet) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/285283 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is the registrant for nautilus-sendto. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 310854] Re: Printing Photos with Canon original drivers stopped working in Intrepid
Hi Calbocano, if you can get it I can really recommend my multi-function Canon Pixma MP610. The Linux drivers are not perfect, but for printing they work great. It's scans well copies great. And if you want to print pictures you can do that directly from SD cards. That's how I fixed my problem for now. In any case it should be updated in Jaunty, which also has 2.24.1 still. For SRU I'm not convinced yet. Re: [Bug 313484] Re: deskbar-applet is outdated in the repositories
Hi Chris, Chris Coulson [2009-01-04 11:32 -]: Jaunty should probably be updated to the development 2.25.x series really. I can probably do that. *nod* Gnome bug 559169 affects Intrepid, and means that you can't perform power management actions from the deskbar, which is a regression. I don't mind having a look to see if I can cherry-pick the patch for that one (it should be trivial really) Sounds good. If you care for this package, please go ahead.
