[Bug 298764] [NEW] in vertical dual screen mode: maximized windows have the title bar behind the gnome panel

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: xorg

My box runs 8.10 Intrepid Ibex (Originally Kubuntu Intrepid (upgraded
all the way from edgy eft) with apt-get installed ubuntu-desktop - kde4
wasn't for me :-) ).

My secondary screen is located above the primary one. I can drag windows
from one screen to another, and also maximize on each screen. But on the
primary one the windows get maximized to the very top of the screen so
that their title bars are hidden behind the gnome-panel.

This is the case with visual effects set to normal and disabled.

I am using the radeon driver on an ATI mobility radeon 9700.

Please let me know if I can provide further details here.

[Bug 247364] Re: Some emails are not displayed but are saved in the mailbox file

2009-02-11 Thread ggiese
Same here with evolution-exchange under Evolution 2.24.3.
I can however make the missing files visible by doing the following:
- use outlook (I use 2k7) under a windows machine to copy all data from the
inbox to a different folder on the exchange server.
- wait for evolution to show an empty inbox.
- move the files back the same way.

This seems to clear something on evolution that makes it possible to see
the mails again.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 272854 ***

Thats not anything to do with the fast-user-switch-applet. gnome-session
displays that dialog, but it is gedit that inhibits the session. I'll
re-assign this to gedit, but I don't think it's a bug. This is intended
behaviour. Does it happen even when there are no unsaved changes in

[Bug 327814] [NEW] fast-user-switch-applet complains about gedit preventing restart

2009-02-11 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: fast-user-switch-applet

Found in Fast User Switch Applet 2.24.0/Ubuntu 9.04 Alpha.

If gedit is open, the Fast User Switch Applet will not allow me to do a
quick restart - it shows a dialog that says that Text Editor is
blocking log out. This happens even when I have no unsaved changes in
gedit.

How to reproduce:
1) Make sure you have gedit open, with no unsaved changes.
2) Click on the Fast User Switch Applet icon.
3) Choose Restart from the pull-down menu.

Expected behavior: The system should initiate a restart.
Actual behavior: A caption-less dialog appears, having the text A program is
still running and showing the gedit icon.

100 % reproducible.

If I choose Restart from the dialog that comes up when I choose Shutdown
from the System menu, I don't get the same blocking behavior. Therefore
I'm reporting this problem on the fast-user-switch-applet package,
although there might just as well be something in gedit that's causing
it.

[Bug 255475] Re: metacity does not load keybindings on start

2009-02-11 Thread Damion
I encountered a similar problem to what Diego described above. I
assigned 5 global_keybindings for Metacity via gconf-editor. 2 of the
keybindings launch their assigned programs beautifully, but 3 of the
keybindings will only launch their assigned programs after I run the
metacity --replace command. (Running the metacity --replace command
is problematic itself though because it hangs that terminal tab and
never returns the command-line prompt in that tab, and aborting that
terminal tab crashes Metacity.)

2009-02-11 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Steps you can take? Well use Evolution for a couple of years and wait to see if

As far as I can tell it could be a bug or a damaged db file caused by even a

[Bug 271108] Re: http_proxy environment variable is not being updated

2009-02-11 Thread DerekKeats
I am on a fully up-to-date Intrepid and I am getting the same problem.
It has resulted in much frustration with instability. Is there any
workaround to get rid of the 'proxy settigns from hell' problem?

Description of bug:

Open gconf-editor, and delete proxy and http_proxy settings. Close
gconf-editor, and reopen it, and the settings are unchanged (i.e. the
proxy settings are still there. Do this with preferences, network proxy,
apply system wide, and save. Restart a terminal or restart the computer
and type echo $http_proxy and the deleted settings are still there.

Where is this stored, and how can I edit it manually to get rid of the
problem until the bug is resolved?

thanks

* I could add a URL and Rhythmbox would hadle any failure gracefully, with
hints at the cause of the problem.

I've attached a backtrace which I hope is done correctly.

PS. In Ubuntu 9.04 with Rhythmbox 0.11.6svn20090108-0ubuntu1 it searches
for a 'text/html decoder' which it fails to find. This is a better
solution, but the crash in 20081008-0ubuntu4.2 is a problem which is
probably in 8.04 LTS and needs fixing.

[Bug 327931] Re: Please backport GIMP 2.6.4 to Intrepid.

2009-02-11 Thread feranick
This bug is specific to Intrepid for which gimp is already in version
2.6.x. This backport to intrepid is simply a bug fix release.

On the other hand, backporting 2.6.4 to hardy requires backporting
several libraries, with added complexity, see:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/hardy-backports/+bug/279115

Thus I would recommend redirecting the work and discussion towards
backporting 2.6.x to hardy to that to bug #279115.

I restart via the System menu.

[Bug 99521] Re: baobab is confused by bind mounts

2009-02-11 Thread Peter Berry
Arguing over whether it's a bug or not is unhelpful. What we can
presumably agree on is that at present, baobab gives totals that are
manifestly wrong, because of what is admittedly a rather uncommon use
case. If this is a feature request, it's a feature that must be added
for baobab to behave correctly.

[Bug 328048] [NEW] clicking evolution calendar evolution exits

2009-02-11 Thread Boycraft
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I open the program, click on the calendar. Program shows the calendar for a
very short time (less than a second) and vanishes from the screen but stays in
the process list. If I open it again the buttom mail will be pushed but not
the calendar.
Clicking other buttons in this list don't make evolution vanish.

Steps to reproduce:
1. open evolution
2. click calendar button

Actual Results:
evolution window hides after showing calendar for a short time

Expected Results:
show the calendar and then idle

How often does this happen?
Every time since today

Additional information:
Using the Evolution version which comes with Ubuntu 8.10
The last thing I did was deleting filtering rules and the folder for them. I've
done this because they didn't work.

Ubuntu guidelines answers:
1) 8.10

[Bug 328048] Re: clicking evolution calendar evolution exits

2009-02-11 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 327938] Re: Please, sponsor gnome-python-desktop 2.25.90 to jaunty

2009-02-11 Thread Didier Roche
You're right, the diff between the two configure files show that evince
has been added (I must have inverted the diff previously, because I saw
it explicitely to go away, IIRC)...

Strange that with default_bindings_on didn't take it into account on configure
step and warned for that.
New version of the branch correct this.

No, Michael, I am sorry but this bug is *NOT* fixed.

Before this latest update, I saw the problem described as the window
controls are there, but invisible/grey. If you click in the grey bar

*after* installing the latest fix this morning, the entire title bar is
gone.
