Ken, thanks for testing, will upload. Notes for future updates: - debian/changelog shouldn't be wider than 80 characters, please use line wrapping - correct format to link to a bug is LP: #123456, you missed a colon: LP #123456. [Bug 330601] Re: Appointment acceptance mail with wrong sender address poses Yes/No question, but only gives OK button
I am using 8.10 with Evolution 2.24.3. There about 1 Zillion ways to have another mailaddress. I'll give you some examples: First the one that drew my attention: Get an iPhone, attach it to an Exchange server and spell you mailaddress wrong in your account settings and accept an appointment. For the other examples let's assume the invited person has the mailaddress k...@kde.org and does also have access to an account k...@gmail.com (both accounts may exist, but are unrelated to me). There should be no SPF-check for the appointment creator for this to work; otherwise the mail may be rejected by the spam-filter. KMail: Use KMail to access the account k...@kde.org, receive an appointment, hit E and enter k...@gmail.com. Thunderbird: Get the mail-bounce-extension and bounce the mail to k...@gmail.com. Postfix: On the kde.org mailserver edit /etc/postfix/virtual and enter a line k...@kde.org k...@gmail.com Then do a postmap /etc/postfix/virtual; /etc/init.d/postfix reload Sendmail: Do the same with /etc/mail/virtusertable and then makemap hash virtusertable virtusertable Fetchmail: Fetch from kde.org and send to gmail.com Google-Mail: Go to Settings, Mail-Forwarding and enter ... eeh, ok, for this you have to do it the other way round and invite gmail and accept on kde.org Multidrop: Just create a multidrop mailbox and fetch from it. I think, you get the point. If you are still unable to get it working, just drop me a mail at my firstname@my lastname.de and I'll create a forwarder for you on my mailserver. The bug is definitely reproducible. It works with any dvi and djvu file I tried (not with pdf or ps) - a sample dvi file is attached. [Bug 197762] Re: file transfers on USB disk are very slow
Thanks for your response Chris, I edited the fstab through UUID and /dev/sd* but with the same result. The only difference is that if I reboot, the system wont load because it displays the message hub 4-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 3 forever. The only way to boot is to disconnect the usb drive and reboot again. I've tested many mount options and tried synchronuos and async. On the previous post (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/197762/comments/86) when i said i bought a new USB i meant a new USB Drive. The normal copy behaviour on my drive is: First 68 MB are copied really fast. Then it gets stalled (around 5 seconds) and then continues coping at 1mbps or less, with some random intermitent stalled periods. Perhaps there is some kind of problem when detecting the usb drive (with old USB disks (40GB) i have no problems and under windows the USB gets 20mbps, so i don't think it's a hardware issue). I'm not a hardware expert so I don't know where to start. Or perhaps its a communication issue with new external HD USB controlers. I've downloaded the latest kernel source files to have a look into ehci module and usb drivers. The USB related source files related are unchanged since 1999, or 2003 the newer ones. More notes: On source files: linux-2.6.9/drivers/ehci-*.c (unchanged since 2001 or 2003) there are LOTS of FIXME notes from the developer. I will try to compile the module by myself and do some random patches here and there to see what happens (yes, it sounds stupid). Final note: goto is a BugMeNot account. Normally I don't have any problems with suspend, but today it took longer than usual and some error info was printed to the console about a freeze failure concerning gnome-power-manager. Eventually my laptop came back to life in a numbed-down way and it froze when I shut it down. After an Alt+SysReq reboot I repeated the suspend and the same things happened. [Bug 131227] Re: notification-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in strcmp()
Ok, look at this solution...I had to add a new function used to destroy properly notification gtk_widget (nw) and engine. I noticed that the problem was in an uncorrected closure of a G_Modules after the destruction of the widget. Practically the daemon destroys engine, in particular engine-module, when it is already used by the notification pop-up. The correct way to destroy engine is this: -) Destroy notification pop-up by calling gtk_distroy_widget. -) Decrease value of engine-ref_count and if it is equal to zero, unload engine-module and destroy engine. Currently the daemon works in this modality: -) It calls the invokes the destruction of a notification pop-up by calling gtk_destroy_widget, but with this event is also called theme_engine_unref. -) It decreases value of engine-ref_count and if it is equal to zero, it unloads engine-module and destroys engine. -) It ends the destruction of a notification pop-up. The daemon unloads engine-module when it is still in use by gtk_widget. I wrote the function that follows the correct way for to destroy widget and eventually engine. This function, called theme_destroy_widget, will be called in daemon.c when it is requested the destruction of widget in function _notify_timeout_destroy. ** Attachment added: notification-daemon_0.4.0-0ubuntu3_rev1.debdiff http://launchpadlibrarian.net/23115868/notification-daemon_0.4.0-0ubuntu3_rev1.debdiff -- notification-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in strcmp() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131227 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to notification-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Sebastien, you are right, but I haven't found any way to reproduce the issue (until now it's random). [Bug 334307] [NEW] gnome-appearance-properties: remove + arrow keys = broken
Public bug reported: The arrow keys in gnome-appearance-properties don't work right: 1. Go to the backgrounds tab 2. Select any background 3. Remove it (this selects the next background) 4. Press rightarrow to move to the next of that (that is, deleted-next-next) 5. Observe that the *first* background becomes selected. Clearly this isn't what one expects. [Bug 197762] Re: file transfers on USB disk are very slow
I also have this issue. Just installed Ubuntu 8.10 Interpid Ibex fresh as a standalone OS on the same exact machine which Windows XP, Vista and 7 were all running on. On the afore mentioned operating systems USB transfer speed was normal 2.0 speed, taking maybe a handful of minutes to transfer a 6 to 7 Gb file from local HDD to USB 2.0 HDD or the other way around. With absolutely no other changes other than changing to the latest stable 8.10 Ubuntu release speeds are now gimped to USB 1.0 speed at or = 1 megabyte per second. The same exact 7Gb file now takes approximately 2 hours roughly to transfer. Same hardware, same cable, same USB port, only change was Windows to Ubuntu 8.10. Please fix asap. I use USB transfers for large files on a daily basis and this is seriously ruining what has otherwise been a very positive experience (finally) with Linux after a few years of trying several distros over and over.
