[Bug 333895] Re: Volume Info Patch Incorrect

2009-02-25 Thread Martin Pitt
Ken, thanks for testing, will upload.

Notes for future updates:

 - debian/changelog shouldn't be wider than 80 characters, please use line
wrapping
 - correct format to link to a bug is LP: #123456, you missed a colon: LP
#123456.

I'll do those two changes now.

[Bug 330601] Re: Appointment acceptance mail with wrong sender address poses Yes/No question, but only gives OK button

2009-02-25 Thread kurti
I am using 8.10 with Evolution 2.24.3.

There about 1 Zillion ways to have another mailaddress. I'll give you
some examples:

First the one that drew my attention:

Get an iPhone, attach it to an Exchange server and spell you mailaddress
wrong in your account settings and accept an appointment.

For the other examples let's assume the invited person has the
mailaddress k...@kde.org and does also have access to an account
k...@gmail.com (both accounts may exist, but are unrelated to me).
There should be no SPF-check for the appointment creator for this to
work; otherwise the mail may be rejected by the spam-filter.

KMail:
Use KMail to access the account k...@kde.org, receive an appointment, hit E
and enter k...@gmail.com.

Thunderbird:
Get the mail-bounce-extension and bounce the mail to k...@gmail.com.

Postfix:
On the kde.org mailserver edit /etc/postfix/virtual and enter a line
k...@kde.org k...@gmail.com
Then do a postmap /etc/postfix/virtual; /etc/init.d/postfix reload

Sendmail:
Do the same with /etc/mail/virtusertable and then
makemap hash virtusertable virtusertable

Fetchmail:
Fetch from kde.org and send to gmail.com

Google-Mail:
Go to Settings, Mail-Forwarding and enter ... eeh, ok, for this you have to do
it the other way round and invite gmail and accept on kde.org

Multidrop:
Just create a multidrop mailbox and fetch from it.

I think, you get the point. If you are still unable to get it working,
just drop me a mail at my firstname@my lastname.de and I'll create a
forwarder for you on my mailserver.

[Bug 334181] Re: gnome-appearance-properties segfaults when adding an icon theme

2009-02-25 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 334132] Re: Evince resetting to beginning of page on document reload

2009-02-25 Thread Atanas Atanasov
The bug is definitely reproducible. It works with any dvi and djvu file
I tried (not with pdf or ps) - a sample dvi file is attached. Notice the
page position is reset to the beginning of the page only if you are
after the first page. To reproduce the bug:

1. Open tmp.dvi
2. Scroll down so the top of the visible area is somewhere in the middle of the
2nd page.
3. Right-click - Reload
4. Now the top of the visible area is the top of the second page instead of the
middle.

Let me know if you need additional information.

i don't think it's duplicate. in the other bug the issue is the menu
display of deamon or osd of the notifications. THIS bug report is about
the actual settings that are not being applied after changing them.

and i ONLY have one menu entry which is the pop up notification

 thanks

It is a duplicate. NotifyOSD has no means currently to change position.
The menu entry only alters the old notification system and so has been
removed or should be being removed from the menu to stop confusion.

[Bug 197762] Re: file transfers on USB disk are very slow

2009-02-25 Thread goto
Thanks for your response Chris,

I edited the fstab through UUID and /dev/sd* but with the same result.
The only difference is that if I reboot, the system wont load because it
displays the message hub 4-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on
port 3 forever. The only way to boot is to disconnect the usb drive and
reboot again.

I've tested many mount options and tried synchronuos and async.

On the previous post
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/197762/comments/86)
when i said i bought a new USB i meant a new USB Drive.

The normal copy behaviour on my drive is: First 68 MB are copied really
fast. Then it gets stalled (around 5 seconds) and then continues coping
at 1mbps or less, with some random intermitent stalled periods.

Perhaps there is some kind of problem when detecting the usb drive (with
old USB disks (40GB) i have no problems and under windows the USB gets
20mbps, so i don't think it's a hardware issue). I'm not a hardware
expert so I don't know where to start. Or perhaps its a communication
issue with new external HD USB controlers.

I've downloaded the latest kernel source files to have a look into ehci
module and usb drivers. The USB related source files related are
unchanged since 1999, or 2003 the newer ones.

More notes:
On source files: linux-2.6.9/drivers/ehci-*.c (unchanged since 2001 or 2003)
there are LOTS of FIXME notes from the developer.

I will try to compile the module by myself and do some random patches
here and there to see what happens (yes, it sounds stupid).

Final note: goto is a BugMeNot account. I'm unable to get registered
here, tested with different mail accounts and i don't receive the
confirmation mail.

[Bug 334242] [NEW] please package epiphany-webkit 2.25.91 with updated webkit-gtk2 dependency

2009-02-25 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
Public bug reported:

The epiphany-webkit currently present in Jaunty alpha (2.24) conflicts
with the 2.25.91 epiphany-gecko and yet no updated epiphany-webkit is
available, nor does it seem to be build upon the vastly improved webkit-
gtk2 port that recently surfaced. In the interest of continuous testing
of non-Gecko solutions, it would be desirable to keep the epiphany-

[Bug 334259] [NEW] [jaunty] gnome-power-manager crashed in suspend

2009-02-25 Thread Per Ångström
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

2.6.28-8-generic #25-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 24 01:50:03 UTC 2009 x86_64
GNU/Linux

I was running a bit low on battery so I tried to suspend my laptop.
Normally I don't have any problems with suspend, but today it took
longer than usual and some error info was printed to the console about a
freeze failure concerning gnome-power-manager. Eventually my laptop came
back to life in a numbed-down way and it froze when I shut it down.

After an Alt+SysReq reboot I repeated the suspend and the same things
happened. After I had rebooted again and connected the mains I had no
problem suspending and resuming.

Unfortunately I don't have the pm-suspend log left from the incident but
I'm attaching an excerpt from /var/log/messages that I think is
relevant.

[Bug 131227] Re: notification-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in strcmp()

2009-02-25 Thread Antonio Litterio
Ok, look at this solution...I had to add a new function used to destroy
properly notification gtk_widget (nw) and engine.
I noticed that the problem was in an uncorrected closure of a G_Modules after
the destruction of the widget.
Practically the daemon destroys engine, in particular engine-module, when it
is already used by the notification pop-up.
The correct way to destroy engine is this:
-) Destroy notification pop-up by calling gtk_distroy_widget.
-) Decrease value of engine-ref_count and if it is equal to zero,
unload engine-module and destroy engine.

Currently the daemon works in this modality:
-) It calls the invokes the destruction of a notification pop-up by
calling gtk_destroy_widget, but with this event is also called
theme_engine_unref.
-) It decreases value of engine-ref_count and if it is equal to
zero, it unloads engine-module and destroys engine.
-) It ends the destruction of a notification pop-up.

The daemon unloads engine-module when it is still in use by gtk_widget. I
wrote the function that follows the correct way for to destroy widget and
eventually engine.
This function, called theme_destroy_widget, will be called in daemon.c when it
is requested the destruction of widget in function _notify_timeout_destroy.

[Bug 334270] [NEW] Background of system monitor applet

2009-02-25 Thread Stefano Maggiolo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

Take for example the RAM monitor. Usually the background color, black,
math the black of Free RAM. Changing Free RAM color to the panel one
(not to have black blobs in my panel), leaves the black background when
the applet loads, that is, until some time passes and the graph fills
the rectangle.

I assume it makes more sense to change the background color to Free
RAM/Inactive CPU/... color.

Also, labels for the colors in the preferences are not consistent: we
have Inactive CPU but Background in the HD section, instead of
Inactive HD.

[Bug 289002] Re: Can't Empty trash within trash 8.10 RC

2009-02-25 Thread Ole Jon
I have the same problem now (8.10). Haven't noticed this before, but I
rarely use the Trash in Nautilus.

I have tried to delete /home/myuser/.local/share/Trash and also roots
trash (to make them regenerate to make sure there isn't a permission
problem), but it doesn't help.

The empty trash button is greyed out. I can, however, use the GNOME-
panel trash-applet to empty the trash.

Just tried to reboot, no change. Nautilus shows files in the Trash, but
I am not able to click the empty trash button.

[Bug 334270] Re: Background of system monitor applet

2009-02-25 Thread Stefano Maggiolo
I'm sorry for the poor description.

In the preferences I set gray as my inactive CPU color.
Now look at the screenshot. The leftmost monitor is the CPU's one. In its right
half there are some CPU spikes, with gray as the color for inactive CPU, as I
selected in the preferences. In the left half, yet to be filled since the
monitor has just been opened, there is a black background. I'd change this
black background to the inactive CPU color, gray in this example.

[Bug 334292] [NEW] New osd-notify notifications should not have an empty title

2009-02-25 Thread Eitan Isaacson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

When sending icon-only or icon+value notifications to notify-osd, the title
string should not be empty.
For example, if it is a volume indicator, it should send Volume as the title
(translatable , of course).

[Bug 334307] [NEW] gnome-appearance-properties: remove + arrow keys = broken

2009-02-25 Thread Jonas Kölker
Public bug reported:

The arrow keys in gnome-appearance-properties don't work right:

1. Go to the backgrounds tab
2. Select any background
3. Remove it (this selects the next background)
4. Press rightarrow to move to the next of that (that is, deleted-next-next)
5. Observe that the *first* background becomes selected.

Clearly this isn't what one expects. G-A-P should be changed so that it
conforms to user expectations.

[Bug 197762] Re: file transfers on USB disk are very slow

2009-02-25 Thread jamesnmandy
I also have this issue. Just installed Ubuntu 8.10 Interpid Ibex fresh
as a standalone OS on the same exact machine which Windows XP, Vista and
7 were all running on. On the afore mentioned operating systems USB
transfer speed was normal 2.0 speed, taking maybe a handful of minutes
to transfer a 6 to 7 Gb file from local HDD to USB 2.0 HDD or the other
way around. With absolutely no other changes other than changing to the
latest stable 8.10 Ubuntu release speeds are now gimped to USB 1.0 speed
at or = 1 megabyte per second. The same exact 7Gb file now takes
approximately 2 hours roughly to transfer. Same hardware, same cable,
same USB port, only change was Windows to Ubuntu 8.10. Please fix asap.
I use USB transfers for large files on a daily basis and this is
seriously ruining what has otherwise been a very positive experience
(finally) with Linux after a few years of trying several distros over
and over. Thanks.
