[Bug 335617] Re: Empty trash button in Nautilus disabled

2009-02-28 Thread Botond Szász
Is it reproducible?
I did not found out yet an exact way to reproduce the bug, but it happens quite
often. Of course, after moving some file to the trash. There is, however, one
other thing which might deserve its own bug report, but maybe it is also
related to this. After I delete some file from the desktop, either using the
Move to trash menu command or simply pressing the Delete key, the file gets in
the trash, but the trash applet does not change its appearance to signal that
it is not empty anymore.

What Ubuntu version do you use?
I use Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex), all updates applied.

If I can somehow find out how can this be reproduced, I will let you
know.

[Bug 335893] [NEW] [jaunty] Bad dependency checking in python-launchpad-integration ?

2009-02-28 Thread Arnaud Faucher
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: python-launchpad-integration

While upgrading from 8.10 to 9.04 alpha 5, ubuntu-desktop failed to
upgrade.

After investigation, it appeared that python-launchpad-integration (a
dependency of ubuntu-desktop) checks for python 2.6:

arn...@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install python-launchpad-integration
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

After a check in Synaptic, both Python 2.5 and 2.6 packages are
installed on my system. Here is the python information in aptitude:

[Bug 335912] [NEW] duplicate functionality between notficiation plugin and new notification preferences

[Bug 334169] Re: Can't play anything (freezes)

2009-02-28 Thread Vadim Peretokin
It works with ALSA now.

So the bug is that if PA is not available (for whatever reason... I
don't have it running, yet sound options pointed to it, and everything
worked fine. Quite messed up but hey it worked), Rhythmbox should say
the cause of the problem?

[Bug 87054] Re: [Needs Packaging] Microdia SN9C201 webcam driver

2009-02-28 Thread martin

- It is a Sonix webcam
+ Including this driver in Ubuntu would enable 22 new types of webcams to
+ work in Ubuntu (it's pretty much all the 0c45:* cams but also a few
+ 045e:* cams that use the same sensor chip as the 0c45:* cams).

- I need the SN9C201 driver not the SN9C102
+ NOTE: These are cams that lack _any_ driver at all today and they all have
status SUPPORTED with this out-of-tree driver, while another 3 has status

- thanks.
+ Webcams that will be fixed by this inclusion includes:

This happens every time. I try to run a short video or youtube.

I did notice after sending bug report there is a message when I boot up

screens. I cannot get full details of the message but it is something
like sound card activation failed.

[Bug 324807] Re: Ubuntu now has both gnome volume and pulse sound on the panel

2009-02-28 Thread Alex
Is the new mixer really not going to be in Jaunty? Is there a way we can
still use it, even if it's not going to be the default?

I'm not a developer, and I don't want to sound like I'm complaining for
no reason, but this new applet really should be in Jaunty. This was
really the last step in completing the transition to Pulseaudio: a nice
GUI to tie it all together. Switching back to the old mixer really
doesn't fix the bug, it just postpones it.

Can you try this:
- Assign a sound file to the Select check box event.

[Bug 331306] Re: gimp-2.6 crashed with SIGSEGV in IA__g_object_get()

2009-02-28 Thread Matt Zimmerman
I can reproduce a similar crash by opening the right-click menu on an
image and browsing through the View and Image menus. It's not 100%, but
trying this many times eventually triggers a crash.

Bug 330846 and bug 334076 are possible duplicates, particularly if this
is a GTK issue.

[Bug 335953] [NEW] icons and controls in quit/logout dialog unthemed

2009-02-28 Thread Ivan Zorin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I use jaunty with latest updates; version of g-p-m : 2.24.2-2ubuntu4
And with this issue I clash from first alpha versions.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Select Menu - Log Out or Shut Down
What should happens: dialog box should use icons, fonts and theme for controls
(buttons, actually) from current theme, selected by user.
What happens: dialog box uses ugly unthemed icons, fonts and controls.
I've tried to find similar bug, but I didn't find it - it's very strange,
because this problem I can see even in LiveCD mode.

[Bug 335924] Re: System Preferences Windows broken with Compiz

2009-02-28 Thread Chris Coulson
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important
for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn
more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a
bug in gnome-control-center.
For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications
have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via the
Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you are
having an issue. You can learn more about this feature at

[Bug 335980] [NEW] Cannot narrow sidebar

2009-02-28 Thread Javier García Díaz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I like having Evolution's sidebar as narrow as possible. When I switch
to Calendar view, it is automatically expanded to fit a little calendar.
However, when I switch back to Mail, I cannot narrow it again until I
restart Evolution. My English is not very good, so see the attached
image for clarification.

I know that the window must fit the widgets, but I think it does not
need to fit hidden components, just like those View details things
that change the size of dialogs.

If you consider this is not a bug, then I would like to be able to
disable the little calendar in the sidebar.

I'm using Jaunty amd64, but I'm experiencing this bug since the first
time I used Evolution, back in 2006.

[Bug 335990] [NEW] nautilus doesn't ask for keyring password after automatic login

2009-02-28 Thread Gabor Karsay
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This is Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10, Nautilus 2.24.1.
After automatic login I can't connect to a ssh/sftp server via nautilus'
connect-to-server-gui. From gnome-panel (I bookmarked the ssh-server) it fails
silently, from nautilus it says access denied.

However it works from terminal: entering ssh u...@server asks for the
keyring password and then connects with my key-file. (I'm using public
keys, not a password.) With nautilus it only works if I don't use
automatic login and type my password at the login.

I would expect nautilus to ask for the keyring/login password.

[Bug 331571] Re: disable Mail Notification eplugin by default

2009-02-28 Thread Bowmore
In this case I think it's entirely reasonable to just
suppress the applet itself, but leave the plugin running.

I don't think this is a good enough solution.

Sure, creating a bridge for bug #1 users is one thing but to adopt to
it's annoying behaviour is not an option. This applet aka alert! makes
no sense nor do the OK and Cancel buttons. So, please make this event
informative, cf a printout job.

[Bug 215484] Re: g-p-m does not honor its configuration for LCD brightness levels after multiple unplug-replug from AC

2009-02-28 Thread Paulo J. S. Silva
BandD,

I am running Ubuntu 8.10 now and the included gpm seems to have the
right behavior for me. I don't know if they are using my patch or found
another solution for the same problem (I have not looked at the code).
Are you still using 8.04? If that is the case, maybe you could try to
apply my patch the gpm source and compile your own package. With some
luck it may still apply cleanly.

Unfortunately I don't have access to a machine running 8.04 to compile
the package right now.

Oh, and just to emphasize. The bug seems closed in 8.10.

[Bug 336034] [NEW] Cannot copy and paste a file on remote PC

2009-02-28 Thread taylorkh
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vinagre

This bug was reported here:
http://bugzilla.gnom10.org/show_bug.cgi?id=570801 I am told that is has
been fixed in more recent versions of Gnome. It does not occur in Ubuntu
8.10. How does the fix get back ported into Ubuntu 8.04 LTS a (which is
supposed to be supported through April 2011)? Here is the issue:

I am running vinagre 0.5.1 on Ubuntu 8.04 with all current patches. I connect
to another Ubuntu 8.04 machine. I can right click and copy a file on the
remote machine however, when I attempt to right click and paste the file to
another location on the remote machine the paste option is grayed out. I can
drag and drop the same file between two locations no problem. I can copy and
paste the file in question if I access the machine locally or use tsclient
0.150 for the remote access.

It appears that this issue only involves copying and pasting files. I can copy
and paste text within gedit for example.

I have confirmed this on 2 remote Ubuntu 8.04 machines. The problem does NOT
occur when I access a remote Ubuntu 7.10 machine - I can copy and paste on the
older version of Ubuntu.

All 4 machines are plain vanilla installs of Ubuntu. No fancy
configurations.

Here is a summary of some additional testing:

Local: Ubuntu 8.10 - vinagre 2.24.1
Remote: Ubuntu 8.04 - vino 2.22.2
Result: can copy and paste files on remote desktop

Local: Ubuntu 8.0.4 - vinagre 0.5.1
Remote: Ubuntu 8.10 - vino 2.24.1
Result: can copy and paste files on remote desktop

Local: Ubuntu 8.0.4 - vinagre 0.5.1
Remote: Ubuntu 8.04 - x11vnc 0.9.3.dfsg.1 (instead of vino)
Result: can copy and paste files on remote desktop

Local: Ubuntu 8.0.4 - vinagre 0.5.1
Remote: Ubuntu 7.10 - x11vnc 0.8.2-2 (instead of vino)
Result: can copy and paste files on remote desktop (also worked before I
changed the remote to x11vnc per my original report

Local: Ubuntu 8.0.4 - vinagre 0.5.1
Remote: Ubuntu 8.04 - vino 2.22.2
Result: can copy and NOT paste files on remote desktop

I do not have vinagre installed on the Ubuntu 7.10 machine - it is an old
Pentium II and it is doing all it can to run GrabIt under Wine and leach
binaries from Usenet :-)

It looks like the issue is between vinagre 0.5.1 and vino 2.22.2 as all other
combinations seem to work.

Please let me know if there is any other information which I can
provide.
