[Bug 345255] [NEW] If unmounting an open drive, it will have an error
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I try to unmount an external USB hard drive by clicking on the small eject icon in nautilus next to the drives icon in the places side pane. It came up with an error because the drive is still in use. This is true because the drive is the folder that is currently open in nautilus. I expected the drive to be unmounted and nautilus directing me to another folder. Re: [Bug 240916] Re: can't configure display resolution (monitor, graphics card) manually in gui
I was told by someone in an Ubuntu support mailing list that you can make a copy of the xorg.conf file that has the proper video card and monitor configurations and overwrite the xorg.conf file in a new install which doesn't properly detect these settings and the copied file will work. [Bug 345267] [NEW] Go directly in lock mode after an auto-login
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm Under gdmsetup, in security, it would be great to have another option under automatic login. [Bug 305030] Re: Failed to print document - can't prompt for authorization
I have a similar problem with IPP printing that requires authentication, and I think it's the same bug (or related at least). I set up the printer (IPP) and the first time I printed I was prompted for a password, but it worked. After this, however, I got the authentication error described above. After som digging, I have it kind of working by doing this: 1. Changing the URI in /etc/cups/printers.conf from DeviceURI ipp://ipp-printer-server-adress:631/printers/printer1 to DeviceURI ipp://USER:PASSWORD@ipp-printer-server-adress:631/printers/printer1 2. Removed myself from the lpadmin group. Now I can print using lpr or Acroreader (which uses lp/lpr), but I still can't print from Evince! Adding the USER:PASSWORD in system-config-printer does not work, but manually editing /etc/cups/printers.conf did. As a first try, I commented out the AuthInfoRequired line, but it crept back in when I restarted Cups! Another thing which may or may not be related is that I can't change the printer settings for this printer that require authentication. [And yes, I tried it while still begin in the lpadmin group...] If I use the Cups web interface, it works however. But it's not very convenient... -- Failed to print document - can't prompt for authorization https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305030 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 345271] [NEW] Error while Refreshing folder
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Hi, I have two IMAP accounts. (Use Ubuntu 8.10 - 64bit) Every now and then I get this error on the 2nd account (never seems to happen on the 1st, although the first): Error while Refreshing folder. I also sometimes get: Error while Storing folder 'INBOX'. In the console I get: evolution-mail-Message: Error occurred while existing dialogue active: Server unexpectedly disconnected: Operation now in progress I have deleted the account and all files and folders in .evolution I could find with the name of the account in them, but it does not solve the problem. I have also tried all the force-shutdown + file deletion suggestions I could find in the last 3 weeks on the web. What I end up doing is closing Evolution, using webmail and then after a day or two the Evolution works again. Strange. It will then work for a day or so and then the error is back. [Bug 345318] [NEW] Brightness control is slow and not costant with 90-Add-guarded-brightness-stepping-functions.patch 91-Using-guarded-and-scaled-stepping-when-dimming.patch
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager 90-Add-guarded-brightness-stepping-functions.patch and 91-Using-guarded-and-scaled-stepping-when-dimming.patch are introducing this bug. When changing the brightness, the control is not costant and it is really slow. I explain better what I mean. When I am at 30% and I want to reduce till 20% I have to press 4 times, when I am at 20% and I want to reduce till 10% i have to press 5 times. That means ~15 key press to reduce the backlight from 50 till 10! Totally unusable. Something like: 60-50: 1 time 50-40: 2 times 40-30: 3 times 30-20: 4 times 20-10: 5 times 10-00: 6 times ...just to give you an idea. This is not the correct behaviour, with default gnome-power-manager the control is ~ 10% step for each key event, in ubuntu the control is choppy for this reason. Removing 90-Add-guarded-brightness-stepping-functions.patch 91-Using-guarded-and-scaled-stepping-when-dimming.patch FIXES the bug. I am wondering, why we have those two patches? :) ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Brightness control is slow and not costant with 90-Add-guarded-brightness-stepping-functions.patch 91-Using-guarded-and-scaled-stepping-when-dimming.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345318 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 345299] [NEW] Missing of icons for eject/unmount
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: gnome-mount Using many external storage drives (dongle/external hdd ...) Gnome is not friendly in using them. For that, gnome-media-applet offers many interresting features. First, in place menu there are no icons to unmount drives, also on icons drives under desktop. They are shown only in nautilus. Second, after an unmount of a drive, the drive is the same in gnome place menu. No differences between mounted or not (gnome-media-applet have icon grayed when unmounted). It's visually a great feature. Last, an idea : why not using an screenlet/gdesklets to store dynamically icons of drives. Gnome remember last position of drive icon on desktop. [Bug 345335] [NEW] Metacity doesn't honor moved panels when maximizing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity When using TwinView and moving a gnome-panel from one monitor to another, maximizing windows doesn't take into account the new position of the panel. Windows on the monitor on which the panels were placed when the session started still leave room where the panel was, windows on the other monitor still maximize as if the panel wasn't there and thus are rendered partly below the panel. [Bug 22483] Re: Rhythmbox has case-sensitivity
** Attachment added: This patch converts the album, artist and song names to title case. This eliminates the problem of duplicate entries. For example, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, red hot chilli peppers and RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS will now show up as the same band ( which is Red Hot Chilli Peppers) HTH. http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24100151/case-insensitive-grouping.diff -- Rhythmbox has case-sensitivity https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/22483 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 345189] Re: Change to 13.333px is a regression for me - fonts far too large
Here you have the screenshots I took in my latop. My dpi setting is 106 (it was changed automatically from 96 when I migrated to Jaunty). The dpyinfo command says this about my screen: screen #0: dimensions:1024x768 pixels (246x185 millimeters) resolution:106x105 dots per inch If you need more information about dpyinfo tell me it and I will include its full output. ** Attachment added: Screenshots using 10px and 13.333px http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24099101/screenshots.tar.gz -- Change to 13.333px is a regression for me - fonts far too large https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345189 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to libgnome in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 131227] Re: notification-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in strcmp()
I commited the patch to lp:~ubuntu-desktop/notification-daemon/ubuntu but the crash is still not fixed in this version :/ -- notification-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in strcmp() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131227 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to notification-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 131227] Re: notification-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in strcmp()
I looked a bit into it and it seems to be unreleated to the patch. I sponsor the patch now, it fixes the problem at hand. A alternative approach would be to use g_timeout_add() in the destroy_engine() code and have a really_destory_engine() function that is run on the next gtk_main_loop and does the g_module_close() and g_free(engine). But your approach should be fine as well. Thanks! I notice a temporary solution by installing the fix, but I see it's only for the moment, i dont't know how it work after reboot, I used a live enviroment. -- trying to browse smb:// network spawn an error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/320547 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
