[Bug 304084] Re: Visualization Flicker
hey, I think I found out why there's no flicker in no XV mode. XV probably stands for external video, therefore it is faster to use XV(graphics card), but XV proves problematic because of the flickering. [Bug 304084] Re: Visualization Flicker
This and that. Seems fine to have an explanation a bit more obvious like that :) I thought i might re-post the work-around again too because it takes a lot of scrolling and hunting around at the moment. Open a terminal window (Applications menu - Accessories - Terminal) and type gstreamer-properties in the pop-up box choose the Video tab and from the output drop-down list choose the option that says '... (no Xv)' Good luck and have fun. Err if it doesn't work then you may want to reset that setting as whatever it was before, usually 'Auto' Have fun, regards from Tom -- Visualization Flicker https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/304084 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 360970] Re: Configure display settings - Icons off screen! 9.04db
* Is this reproducible? 1 I think it will be. Delete the file that is written to your config when you do a dual screen for the first time (Donot know location from heart.) 2 Place an Icon under the start button 2 Connect second monitor 3 set the settings off the monitor to look like the file in my first post. So not aligned and new monitor on the left side! 4 login again... 5 Icons will be in the invisable top left corner * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug? Personally the problem is not only the icons... The mouse can still go into that area... So Ubuntu sees the black bits from picture attached in first post as desktop-space while this is not. Hope this helps! [Bug 362318] Re: Editing calendar events to recur forever corrupts the calendar the event is tied to
I can also confirm the bug. Editing a previously created recurring appointment (only 2 instances) freezes evolution and corrupts the calendar. It seems to me that the importance classification low is maybe underestimating the situation? Editing a recurring appointment is something that occurs quite often in day to day use. And the consequences are rather severe (unusable and corrupted calender.) [Bug 365037] [NEW] Evolution appears to use wrong SMTP server

[Bug 247364] Re: Some emails are not displayed but are saved in the mailbox file
My 2 cents on this pb: -I noticed it maybe one or two weeks ago, but of course I can't be sure it did not happened before -was on Intrepid, I'm on Jaunty now -connected by IMAP to an Alt-N Mdaemon server -wrong number of emails, only 180 when in fact I had 1800 (total confirmed simply by displaying the properties of the Inbox...) -I tried to delete my evolution configuration files, reconfigure the imap account, same problem -I tried to unsubscribe from the Inbox, then subscribe again, sometimes it was giving me the emails back, but only during a few seconds. Sometimes no difference. What I noticed was that they were disappearing AFTER a filtering (you can see it in the status bar at the bottom of Evolution when it's filtering) -I didn't configure the spam filter for this IMAP account, but I had some filters, so I deactivated the filters, no change. However, each time I tried to unsubscribe /subscribe, it was STILL filtering. I didn't really understand why, no spam filter, no mail filters set for this imap account. -then I discovered this: in the general options (NOT the account specific ones), the spam filter was activated! I deactivated it, and since, I don't see any filtering anymore when I unsubscribe/subscribe or just receive emails. And I see ALL my emails... minus 1! 1885 displayed, properties window says 1886... But that's a big improvement to me already. And it makes Evolution faster, as it's not filtering for spams anymore. [Bug 324700] Re: gnome-volume-control is missing system events sound adjustment
Yes, I think it does. The problem is that Gnome 2.26 removed gnome- sound-preferences, but didn't move the 'Sound Effects' tab across to g-v-c, so they were missing. I opened this bug because of that. Then Ubuntu brought Intrepid's gnome-sound-preferences back into Jaunty, so this bug isn't relevant for Jaunty now, but it's being kept open to track for karmic (see comment #3). -- gnome-volume-control is missing system events sound adjustment https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/324700 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 242478] Re: Nautilus can not display FTP quite often
I think there is indeed a bug, or a lack of a choice on the FTP protocol being used. I have access to a server allowing ftp connections, but not sftp ones. Then, from the command line I can, as reported here, access the server without any issues. Nautilius (I think the problem is in gvfs) is not able to display the content on the server using the the FTP with login option. The problem may be the ftp protocol being used in one or other instance, I don't know. The nautilus complete error is: The folder contents could not be displayed. Sorry, could not display all the contents of / on xxx.xxx.xxx.br: DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- Nautilus can not display FTP quite often https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242478 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 364838] Re: nautilus excessive cpu and delay opening directories
I understand very well a transient bug, or as in this case one apparently affecting only a specific system, is very difficult or impossible to address. I'll try to explore the envelope to see if I can associate it with anything more definitive or enlightening. At this point the problem seems solid on this system in that it _always_ occurs with some directories, perhaps most of them. Since I see it as excessive delay in opening it may occur on all, just be imperceptible on some As I said, I'll kick it around a bit and see if I can spot anything more useful. This box seems to have other issues wrt Linux/Ubuntu/Gnome. Ubuntu has never thought it 'Suspended' correctly, but the hardware sure acts like it does, or maybe it's more like 'Hibernate', though trying that option was such a disaster I removed it from the menu. And this morning it seems to have woken from (attempted?) 'Suspend' with audio not working. (There are other issues with some apps. but they don't seem particularly relevant, or anyway important to me.) Sebastien Bacher wrote: the bug without extra details is of no real use, it requires at least a description of scenario which trigger the issue, you seem to be the only one to get the bug and to have it randomly, could you try to figure if the issue is specific to a directory, some files, list or icon view, a zoom level, etc? -- nautilus excessive cpu and delay opening directories https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/364838 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
