[Bug 304084] Re: Visualization Flicker

2009-04-22 Thread 1oooop
hey, I think I found out why there's no flicker in no XV mode. XV
probably stands for external video, therefore it is faster to use
XV(graphics card), but XV proves problematic because of the flickering.
So, I'd say for good performance, go XV; for good quality but bad
framerate, go no XV.

[Bug 304084] Re: Visualization Flicker

2009-04-22 Thread Tom
This and that. Seems fine to have an explanation a bit more obvious
like that :) I thought i might re-post the work-around again too
because it takes a lot of scrolling and hunting around at the moment.

Open a terminal window (Applications menu - Accessories - Terminal) and
type

gstreamer-properties

in the pop-up box choose the Video tab and from the output drop-down
list choose the option that says '... (no Xv)'

Good luck and have fun. Err if it doesn't work then you may want to
reset that setting as whatever it was before, usually 'Auto'

Have fun, regards from
Tom

[Bug 360970] Re: Configure display settings - Icons off screen! 9.04db

2009-04-22 Thread Fuchur
 * Is this reproducible?

1 I think it will be. Delete the file that is written to your config when you
do a dual screen for the first time (Donot know location from heart.)
2 Place an Icon under the start button
2 Connect second monitor
3 set the settings off the monitor to look like the file in my first post. So
not aligned and new monitor on the left side!
4 login again...
5 Icons will be in the invisable top left corner

 * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?
Personally the problem is not only the icons...
The mouse can still go into that area...
So Ubuntu sees the black bits from picture attached in first post as
desktop-space while this is not.

Hope this helps!

Ta Frank

[Bug 365002] [NEW] evolution not sync with google calendar in 9.04 RC

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

send check time to 30 minutes, after 30 minutes went to google (now in

[Bug 364683] Re: copies don't respect setuid and setgid settings

2009-04-22 Thread sylvain just

the files in my home directory, the result is bellow :

  user-a: ~$ ls -l ../common-directory/

Then, owner group isn't good for file copied from nautilus interface and
setgid bit isn't present for direcory...

NB: I tried to use gvfs-copy command. Result is good for file (good owner
group, good permissions) but with directory, error message is :
Impossible to copy a repertory recursively

Thanks in advance for fix :)

[Bug 362318] Re: Editing calendar events to recur forever corrupts the calendar the event is tied to

2009-04-22 Thread paraiko
I can also confirm the bug.
Editing a previously created recurring appointment (only 2 instances) freezes
evolution and corrupts the calendar.

It seems to me that the importance classification low is maybe underestimating
the situation?
Editing a recurring appointment is something that occurs quite often in day to
day use. And the consequences are rather severe (unusable and corrupted
calender.) Not every user will know how to correct the problem or have a
calendar backup.

Yes, it is always visible.

Find a Unicode block for which gucharmap does not display characters.
Install a font for that block. Observe that the block is now filled,
regardless of which font is selected.

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: gucharmap

 Feature request:

Currently, I can select a font and a character range (by script or by Unicode
block) but I see a glyph for each character supported in the fonts I have
installed, whether or not it is in the selected font. What I want to see some
of the time is just the characters in the selected font, perhaps with an
indication of which other characters _can_ be displayed using other installed
 fonts.

I would like to be able to toggle display of characters not in the currently
selected font in gucharmap, either on the View menu or on the font menu,
perhaps identified as All. This would enable me to see either the total
coverage of installed fonts, or the coverage of a selected font, as
appropriate to my need. In particular, it would allow me to find fonts
covering a Unicode block or the characters required for some application, and
let others know which fonts to install for those purposes.

[Bug 365037] [NEW] Evolution appears to use wrong SMTP server

2009-04-22 Thread Nigel Hawkins
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

NB: This problem report seems similar to bug 21989 but it isn't the
same.

I have two email accounts:
Account 1 using servers pop1 and smtp1 - defined as default account
Account 2 using servers pop2 and smtp2

If a message from account 2 is queued in the Outbox folder when I hit
the Send/Receive button the progress window that pops up always
reports that it is using the default account's smtp server.

When the message actually arrives, routing (as reported by headers)
seems to be correct. So it appears to be using the correct smtp server
just not reporting it correctly in the progress window.

2009-04-22 Thread Tom Kirby
Phil, thank you so much! That solves the problem for me too. I can't
understand why, because it was happening with photos imported since I
upgraded to Jaunty.

I still get the problem that when I set a rotated photo as a desktop
background, it shows up wrongly oriented. This happens even for a fresh
user, so it's not a problem with my config. Has a bug been reported for
this?

[Bug 247364] Re: Some emails are not displayed but are saved in the mailbox file

2009-04-22 Thread François Tissandier
My 2 cents on this pb:

-I noticed it maybe one or two weeks ago, but of course I can't be sure it did
not happened before
-was on Intrepid, I'm on Jaunty now
-connected by IMAP to an Alt-N Mdaemon server

-wrong number of emails, only 180 when in fact I had 1800 (total
confirmed simply by displaying the properties of the Inbox...)

-I tried to delete my evolution configuration files, reconfigure the
imap account, same problem

-I tried to unsubscribe from the Inbox, then subscribe again, sometimes
it was giving me the emails back, but only during a few seconds.
Sometimes no difference. What I noticed was that they were disappearing
AFTER a filtering (you can see it in the status bar at the bottom of
Evolution when it's filtering)

-I didn't configure the spam filter for this IMAP account, but I had
some filters, so I deactivated the filters, no change. However, each
time I tried to unsubscribe /subscribe, it was STILL filtering. I didn't
really understand why, no spam filter, no mail filters set for this imap
account.

-then I discovered this: in the general options (NOT the account
specific ones), the spam filter was activated! I deactivated it, and
since, I don't see any filtering anymore when I unsubscribe/subscribe or
just receive emails. And I see ALL my emails... minus 1! 1885 displayed,
properties window says 1886... But that's a big improvement to me
already. And it makes Evolution faster, as it's not filtering for spams
anymore.

Can someone check her/his own settings and see if it's related to this
spam setting?

[Bug 364252] [NEW] Safe remove dialog shows a truncated notification message

2009-04-22 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: gnome-mount

When you unmount an USB memory after writing data on it, you can see a
notification dialog that shows the following message:

The device %s is now safe to remove.

In Spanish desktop, you can see the following translation of the
message:

El dispositivo %s ya se puede extraer de forma segura.

However, when I unmount my MP3 player I see the above message truncated,
like this:

El dispositivo T.sonic 610 ya se puede extraer de forma

(dropping the last word, segura.)

I attach an screenshot to illustrate the problem.

It seems I can reproduce it sometimes with rhythmbox as it uses
notifications for track changes when it is minimized to tray.

  1. Change /apps/notification-daemon/theme from ubuntu to

  3. notification-daemon crashes, but when it restarts it appears to work

[Bug 324700] Re: gnome-volume-control is missing system events sound adjustment

2009-04-22 Thread Rocko
Yes, I think it does. The problem is that Gnome 2.26 removed gnome-
sound-preferences, but didn't move the 'Sound Effects' tab across to
g-v-c, so they were missing. I opened this bug because of that. Then
Ubuntu brought Intrepid's gnome-sound-preferences back into Jaunty, so
this bug isn't relevant for Jaunty now, but it's being kept open to
track for karmic (see comment #3).

[Bug 242478] Re: Nautilus can not display FTP quite often

2009-04-22 Thread Leandro
I think there is indeed a bug, or a lack of a choice on the FTP protocol
being used. I have access to a server allowing ftp connections, but not
sftp ones. Then, from the command line I can, as reported here, access
the server without any issues. Nautilius (I think the problem is in
gvfs) is not able to display the content on the server using the the FTP
with login option. The problem may be the ftp protocol being used in one
or other instance, I don't know. The nautilus complete error is:

The folder contents could not be displayed.
Sorry, could not display all the contents of / on xxx.xxx.xxx.br: DBus error
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes
include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security

Re: [Bug 364838] Re: nautilus excessive cpu and delay opening directories

2009-04-22 Thread k c davis
I understand very well a transient bug, or as in this case one
apparently affecting only a specific system, is very difficult or
impossible to address. I'll try to explore the envelope to see if I can
associate it with anything more definitive or enlightening.

At this point the problem seems solid on this system in that it _always_
occurs with some directories, perhaps most of them. Since I see it as
excessive delay in opening it may occur on all, just be imperceptible on
some As I said, I'll kick it around a bit and see if I can spot
anything more useful.

This box seems to have other issues wrt Linux/Ubuntu/Gnome. Ubuntu has
never thought it 'Suspended' correctly, but the hardware sure acts like
it does, or maybe it's more like 'Hibernate', though trying that option
was such a disaster I removed it from the menu. And this morning it
seems to have woken from (attempted?) 'Suspend' with audio not working.
(There are other issues with some apps. but they don't seem particularly
relevant, or anyway important to me.)

Sebastien Bacher wrote:
the bug without extra details is of no real use, it requires at least a
description of scenario which trigger the issue, you seem to be the only
one to get the bug and to have it randomly, could you try to figure if
the issue is specific to a directory, some files, list or icon view, a
 zoom level, etc?

[Bug 18384] Re: Wording of keyring access dialog could be improved

2009-04-22 Thread Ijan
Update: The above mentioned bug does only reproduce in the german
localisation of Ubuntu and seems to refer to keyring access of
Evolution. I checked the english and french localisation which gave path
and appname correctly. Sorry, I'm new to bug reporting.
