[Bug 372043] [NEW] Can't change name of default task list

2009-05-05 Thread Shahar Or
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Dear friends,

1. Open evolution.
2. Go to tasks.
3. Change the name of the default task list (the first one, which was created
automatically)
4. Quit evolution.
5. Open evolution.

The task list's name has been reverted to it's original name.

I think it should be expected that the name will still be what the user
has written.

Many blessings.

[Bug 367138] Re: evince crashed with SIGSEGV in gdk_region_copy()

2009-05-05 Thread jeff3211
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: evince

I'm sorry this is my first bug report, and my first use of LiveCD ubuntu
9.04. It may not be a valid bug, but I am incompetent to determine
validity. I was reading the installation documentation for win4lin pro
and scrolling with the scroll wheel on my logitech VX revolution
wireless mouse when the app suddenly closed. I am using a pentium 4
prescott processor, ECS mother board with 1 Gb RAM and I am loaded from
LiveCD with my Ubuntu 9.04 distro. I have not checked the hash, and my
machine has been buggy lately, I have either a faulty RAM chip or a
failing Motherboard, so my machine may be the source of the bug. I
intend to build a new 64 bit machine when parts arrive Monday and I was
researching information for my new build to migrate away from Windows,
so you may find this bug report worthy of an early death! However if you
decide to investigate further, I will be happy to answer any questions
to the best of my ability. The application shows these details from the
  drop-down help menu about...Document Viewer 2.26.0 Using poppler 0.10.5
(cairo) you probably know the rest of the details about this program. I
was reading a pdf document from the win4lin pro website which was the
user's guide. I also had several windows open along with my firefox
browser. I had also clicked on the win4linISO file just before the
user's guide disappeared. I was scrolling up in the document to an
earlier page when the window simply closed. I hope the automated bug
reporter has properly selected the appropriate source package because
most of the details in your instructions are still over my head!

+ update
+ As of 2009-05-05 I am unable to recreate this crash. I have downloaded the
pkg for valgrind debugging memory issues and though I'm a newbie I figured out
how to launch the necessary program from within the valgrind program. There is
a difference in system properties, however... I had already disassembled this
computer and built another one using some of it's components. I pirated the DVD
drive, the EIDE interface cable and the power supply for use in the new build.
I installed different components in the suspect computer to recreate the crash.
In addition, the system hasn't been on a comparable period of time as of yet. I
will wait until late tomorrow night and try to recreate the crash again after
the unit has sufficiently heated up to a comparable temperature. If I am still
unable to recreate the crash it appears probable that it may have been hardware
related and not a valid complaint against the OS. The new computer which
utilized the pirated hardware has operated flawlessly to date. I will update
immediately if the issue returns, or if it appears with the new unit.

[Bug 372058] [NEW] glade not saving delete-event signal

2009-05-05 Thread rob_brown-bayliss
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: glade-3

I have tracked it down to a bug in glade. I am using Glade 3.6.1 on
Ubuntu 9.04

What has been happening is each time I change the UI via glade, it has
been removing the signal for the delete-event and destroy-event from the
xml file it saves:

   property name=enable_layout_configTrue/property
signal name=destroy_event handler=on_app1_destroy_event/ ###
This line not saved to xml file
signal name=delete_event handler=on_app1_delete_event/ ###
This line not saved to xml file
child internal-child=dock
  widget class=BonoboDock id=bonobodock1

so when I run the app there is no signal to connect to 'on_app1_delete_event'

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
 apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
 /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-

_my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

[Bug 316862] Re: Nautilus fails to browse windows shares

2009-05-05 Thread Mark Ellse
1. The bug. When an an Ubuntu machine is connected to a Windows peer-to-peer
network, the File Browser will browse network (network:///) showing the
workgroups (smb:///) but it will not reliably browse within the workgroups
(smb://workgroup/).
2. How to trigger in Jaunty. Connect a Jaunty machine to a window peer-to-peer
network.
3. Associated information:
Can connect to hosts by smb://IP address, but not by
smb://workgroup/hostname.
But can connect to printers by BOTH smb://IP address, and by
smb://workgroup/hostname.
Also present with earlier versions of Ubuntu.
May be a gvfs problem, but afflicts Ubuntu and should be within Ubuntu
bugs.
May be the way that File Browser interrogates Windows master browser
(known to be flaky even for Windows machines).
Very rapid return of 'Unable to browse location. Failed to return share
list from server' by File browser, whereas when browsing workgroups effectively
it takes time to retrieve the information. Possibly something is telling File
browser that there is nothing with the hostname/IP translations.
But SMB4K browses within workgroups reliably.
4. I'm for leaving it here since the core issue (1. above) is clear and
adequately described.

[Bug 366313] Re: Gnome desktop preferences fail to load

I removed .gnome* and .gconf* from my homedir to make gnome-settings-daemon

[Bug 183846] Re: google calendar source does not show all events

2009-05-05 Thread monkley
Also running 2.26.1 and ubuntu 9.04

Recurring event do not show up properly for me either. Some do and some don't.
I'm guessing here but maybe it's do to with a recurring event being set up
which displays ok, but then if you make an one off change to 1 of the recurring
events, then it screws it up? Or it's when you modify a recurring event and
tell google calendar to modify all following events rather than the whole
series?

[Bug 372095] [NEW] proxy and secure webdav nautilus

2009-05-05 Thread jehon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When connecting to a secure webdav server using the file connect to
server command of nautilus, a dialog box open.

You specify a user name (and other options: server name, port, ) in
the box, it then ask for password (ok) and then a error message pop up
and access is not granted:

Could not display davs://x...@yyy/zz.

Error: HTTP Error: Authorization Required
Please select another viewer and try again.

If you don't specify a user name in the first box, it then ask for it
aside with the password, and then the access is granted without any
problem.

release: 9.04
nautilus: 1:2.26.2-0ubuntu1
configuration:
- system wide proxy set with System - Preference - Network proxy
- proxy requires no authentification
- server is https only, auth is done through digest

Suggestions:
- the error message pop up so quickly, it is possible that the request don't
even go out of nautilus
- params are ok, pwd and user name are correct
- server respond correctly
- proxy is used correctly by both ways (not doing so would result in a +/- 30
seconds delay between request and time-out)
- I thing the user name field is not re-used by request

[Bug 318694] Re: gthumb is called with --import-photos on any directory

2009-05-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gthumb - 3:2.10.11-1ubuntu1

---
gthumb (3:2.10.11-1ubuntu1) karmic; urgency=low

  * Merge with Debian unstable; remaining Ubuntu changes:
- ubuntu-lpi.patch, debian/control: Launchpad Integration, add
  liblaunchpad-integration-dev build dependency.
- debian/rules: Build PO template on package build.
- debian/rules: Add gettext domain to *.desktop and *.server files.
- 04-fix-gvfs-umount.patch: Fix up gphoto-import.desktop to work with
  current gvfs. (LP #351122)
- debian/control: Recommend gvfs-bin, so that the unmounting of the
  libgphoto gvfs can actually work.
  * debian/control: Drop libopenrawgnome-dev build dependency. It's in
universe, and we shouldn't spread more than one raw processing library in
main.
  * debian/control: Fix automake1.9 build dependency to be automake, since
the upstream scripts expect 1.10.
  * debian/rules: Call autoreconf before build, since the upstream Makefiles
call libtool/autoconf in an insufficient way, leading to an FTBFS.
  * 10-fix_POTFILES.skip.patch: Add quilt's .pc/ cruft from our patches to the
ignore list, to fix FTBFS.

gthumb (3:2.10.11-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New Upstream Version:
- fix crasher bug in exif tag reading, caused by malformed tiff headers.
  (LP: #316017)
- give the photo-import desktop file different name parameters, so that
users can distinguish it from the normal desktop file. (LP: #318694)
- fixes GtkSpinButton deprecated non-zero page size adjustment setting,
patch from Ubuntu merged upstream (LP: #319349)
  * Forgot bugnumber to close in 3:2.10.10-1, added (mostly for
changelog reasons, closing it manually)
  * debian/control:
- scrollkeeper moved from gthumb's Recommends to gthumb-data's
  Depends (Closes: #508709)
- yelp Recommends moved from gthumb to gthumb-data
- Standards-Version bumped to 3.8.1 (no changes needed)
  * debian/patches/:
- 05-fix_locales.patch, 06-add_keybinding_DoNotSave.patch.
  10-fix_POTFILES.skip.patch refreshed
- 12-remove_Save_button_in_crop_dialog.patch added (Closes: #495444)

gthumb (3:2.10.10-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Brown-paper-bag bug upload
  * debian/patches/:
- 01-PIC.patch forwarded upstream, annotated.
- 06-add_keybinding_DoNotSave.patch forwarded upstream, annotated.
- 07-fix_zooms.patch, 08-fix_preferences.patch forwarded upstream,
  annotated.
- 09-fix_infinite_loop_dragging_parent_dir.patch forwarded upstream,
  annotated.
- 10-fix_POTFILES.skip.patch updated
- 11-fix_Film_on_import.patch added, thanks to Matijs van Zuijlen
  (Closes: #510143)
- series updated: disable 03-libgthumb_moduledir.patch (i.e. let's

does anybody get the issue using a mouse and not a touchpad?

Yes, my workstation has that problem to. Jaunty, upgraded from Intrepid.

The default sensitivity with a mouse is acceptable so it isn't a huge problem.

A also have a Asus Eee and the problem is present there to, and with a
touchpad the problem is annoying like hell. (Sensitivity is at
acceptable levels if I connect a mouse).

[Bug 372119] [NEW] last.fm suggestion - make 5 star = love it, 1 star = ban

2009-05-05 Thread myxiplx
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Would it be possible to have Rhythmbox automatically flag last.fm tracks
as 'ban' or 'love' based on the star rating I give them?

That would let me keep rhythmbox minimised and use tools like music-
applet to integrate rhythmbox to my gnome panels, while retaining the
ability to quickly flag last.fm songs I love. It would remove the need
to open the full app just to hit the 'love it' button, and would open up
the last.fm integration to any RhythmBox plugin.

[Bug 64383] Re: UDF not properly recognised

2009-05-05 Thread Sebastian Schauenburg
This issue still exists in 9.04 (here: amd64)
 * File-roller and Archive-mounter (gvfs) only 'see' the README.TXT

Workaround: Mount the image manually (with mount -o loop), works
perfectly.

[Bug 292963] Re: gvfs should have udf support

2009-05-05 Thread Sebastian Schauenburg
It is not a duplicate, but has ties with this bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/64383 (UDF not properly recognised).

When you use archive-mounter to mount an image which has a UDF
filesystem and an ISO filesystem, the ISO filesystem will be mounted,
which results in a not usable mounted image. Archive-mounter uses gvfs
to mount images.

[Bug 178164] Re: There was an error creating the child process for this terminal

2009-05-05 Thread patrick.dolz
Hi guys,
I have tried all the recommendations here but still no luck.
This is really annoying as I need to run a terminal every now and then, also, I
cannot SSH into my server:
Unable to spawn SSH process
I somehow believe that the two issues are related.
Could it be a permission issue???

[Bug 371802] Re: Nautilus does not handle symlinks properly

2009-05-05 Thread Lukáš Zapletal
First of all I thank for your support.

I use ext3 for root and ext2 for /boot. Before upgrade it worked. I have
tried to create link from the shell and from the Nautilus itself. No
change.

Should I try it on a clean login (testing user account with new home
dir)?

ps - this is my fourth upgrade but I am keeping my system as clean as I
can do

[Bug 44989] Re: Doesn't print (large) PDF files

2009-05-05 Thread kikl
Ubuntu 9.04, Document Viewer 2.26.1,

I have the same problem. Evince doesn't print large pdf-files. I've got
a 1.2 MB file, which it simply doesn't print. The printer defaults and
sends the message broken pipe. Then I split the pdf-files into parts
using print to pdf-file. The parts appear to be larger than the original
file, because the file properties report 1.5 MB and 1.7 MB. But, the
printer does manage these jobs. However, they are printed incredibly
slow. It takes minutes for each page to be printed. Finally, the print
job documenter reports a file size of 2072k, but the file properties
report 1,5 MB.

I'll attach my file and hope somebody can figure this out

Ok, now I tried lpr filename.pdf. This worked instantly. The printer
printed instantly and fast and the whole job was printed at once. So
this must be evince trying to handle the printing job.

[Bug 372144] [NEW] Top part of window garbled when I shift to evince window

2009-05-05 Thread joehill
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Since upgrading to Jaunty, when I switch from evince to another window
and back again, I very often find the top of the evince window garbled,
the way new windows often appear before refreshing themselves. To get it
to look roughly normal, I have to scroll the text until the garbled part
disappears and then switch the sidebar, for example, from Thumbnails
to Bookmarks and then back again to force it to refresh.

This problem is not consistent but happens very often.

I'm using Gnome and am experiencing this problem both in Metacity and
Compiz. Today's upgrade to the new intel driver didn't change it
(although it allowed me to go back to using Compiz, where this happens
perhaps more often than it did with Metacity).

[Bug 372146] [NEW] Multiple issues with Evolution 2.24.3

2009-05-05 Thread jyotibhargava
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I'm a recent open source convert, and have faced some problems with
Evolution 2.24.3. I'm using it with the Ubuntu 8.10 based Easy Peasy on
ASUS Eee PC1000H.

The problems are listed below:

1. Opening of multiple copies of the same message

If I have a couple of messages from the Inbox lying open, and I go to
the Inbox to (unknowingly) open those messages again, the program keeps
opening as many copies of the same message as my attempts to open it.
Shouldn't it take me to the copy that is open and keep only ONE copy
open?

2. Saving several versions of drafts

While typing messages and saving them (ctrl+shift+S) as drafts in
between, in some situations, Evolution saves as many separate versions
of the message as my attempts to save the file -- instead of refreshing
the already saved draft with added content.

3. Automated Outbox clearance

I haven't found a way to enable a forced Send/Receive of messages from
the Outbox. As messages queue up in the Outbox, they keep slipping out
on their own when the program detects a connection to the Net. I'd be
happier to see the messages queuing up in the Outbox and going only on a
forced Send/Receive -- as I could do in Outlook.

4. Accidental message send off

Many times the messages get sent off accidentally when I'm still typing
them up. I find that happening when the mouse cursor remains poised on
the Send button and somehow the Send option getting activated with the
combination of accidental pressing of some keys or possibly the pressure
of some part of the left hand on the mousepad! Unless I consciously move
the mouse cursor away from the Send button, it ends up there as the Send
button appears in the same place as the New Message Compose button.

Thanks in advance for your team's efforts to resolve the above.

[Bug 300262] Re: no longer goes offline when network disconnected

2009-05-05 Thread oudalrich
The fix is only partial. Evolution realizes when the internet connection
is lost/disabled while it is running. But when I close Evolution while
there is connectivity, then disable networking, then re-start Evolution,
it does not switch to offline mode but tries to contact the server(s).
This used to work before Intrepid, if I'm not mistaken.
