[Bug 367138] Re: evince crashed with SIGSEGV in gdk_region_copy()
** Description changed: Binary package hint: evince I'm sorry this is my first bug report, and my first use of LiveCD ubuntu 9.04. It may not be a valid bug, but I am incompetent to determine validity. I was reading the installation documentation for win4lin pro and scrolling with the scroll wheel on my logitech VX revolution wireless mouse when the app suddenly closed. I am using a pentium 4 prescott processor, ECS mother board with 1 Gb RAM and I am loaded from LiveCD with my Ubuntu 9.04 distro. I have not checked the hash, and my machine has been buggy lately, I have either a faulty RAM chip or a failing Motherboard, so my machine may be the source of the bug. I intend to build a new 64 bit machine when parts arrive Monday and I was researching information for my new build to migrate away from Windows, so you may find this bug report worthy of an early death! However if you decide to investigate further, I will be happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability. The application shows these details from the drop-down help menu about...Document Viewer 2.26.0 Using poppler 0.10.5 (cairo) you probably know the rest of the details about this program. I was reading a pdf document from the win4lin pro website which was the user's guide. I also had several windows open along with my firefox browser. I had also clicked on the win4linISO file just before the user's guide disappeared. I was scrolling up in the document to an earlier page when the window simply closed. I hope the automated bug reporter has properly selected the appropriate source package because most of the details in your instructions are still over my head! I have downloaded the pkg for valgrind debugging memory issues and though I'm a newbie I figured out how to launch the necessary program from within the valgrind program. There is a difference in system properties, however... I had already disassembled this computer and built another one using some of it's components. I pirated the DVD drive, the EIDE interface cable and the power supply for use in the new build. I installed different components in the suspect computer to recreate the crash. In addition, the system hasn't been on a comparable period of time as of yet. I will wait until late tomorrow night and try to recreate the crash again after the unit has sufficiently heated up to a comparable temperature. If I am still unable to recreate the crash it appears probable that it may have been hardware related and not a valid complaint against the OS. The new computer which utilized the pirated hardware has operated flawlessly to date. I will update immediately if the issue returns, or if it appears with the new unit. -- evince crashed with SIGSEGV in gdk_region_copy() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/367138 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 316862] Re: Nautilus fails to browse windows shares
1. The bug. When an an Ubuntu machine is connected to a Windows peer-to-peer network, the File Browser will browse network (network:///) showing the workgroups (smb:///) but it will not reliably browse within the workgroups (smb://workgroup/). 2. How to trigger in Jaunty. Connect a Jaunty machine to a window peer-to-peer network. 3. Associated information: Can connect to hosts by smb://IP address, but not by smb://workgroup/hostname. But can connect to printers by BOTH smb://IP address, and by smb://workgroup/hostname. Also present with earlier versions of Ubuntu. May be a gvfs problem, but afflicts Ubuntu and should be within Ubuntu bugs. May be the way that File Browser interrogates Windows master browser (known to be flaky even for Windows machines). Very rapid return of 'Unable to browse location. Failed to return share list from server' by File browser, whereas when browsing workgroups effectively it takes time to retrieve the information. Possibly something is telling File browser that there is nothing with the hostname/IP translations. But SMB4K browses within workgroups reliably. 4. I'm for leaving it here since the core issue (1. above) is clear and adequately described. -- Nautilus fails to browse windows shares https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/316862 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 372144] [NEW] Top part of window garbled when I shift to evince window
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince Since upgrading to Jaunty, when I switch from evince to another window and back again, I very often find the top of the evince window garbled, the way new windows often appear before refreshing themselves. To get it to look roughly normal, I have to scroll the text until the garbled part disappears and then switch the sidebar, for example, from Thumbnails to Bookmarks and then back again to force it to refresh. This problem is not consistent but happens very often. I'm using Gnome and am experiencing this problem both in Metacity and Compiz. [Bug 372146] [NEW] Multiple issues with Evolution 2.24.3
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I'm a recent open source convert, and have faced some problems with Evolution 2.24.3. I'm using it with the Ubuntu 8.10 based Easy Peasy on ASUS Eee PC1000H. The problems are listed below: 1. Opening of multiple copies of the same message If I have a couple of messages from the Inbox lying open, and I go to the Inbox to (unknowingly) open those messages again, the program keeps opening as many copies of the same message as my attempts to open it. Shouldn't it take me to the copy that is open and keep only ONE copy open? 2. Saving several versions of drafts While typing messages and saving them (ctrl+shift+S) as drafts in between, in some situations, Evolution saves as many separate versions of the message as my attempts to save the file -- instead of refreshing the already saved draft with added content. 3. Automated Outbox clearance I haven't found a way to enable a forced Send/Receive of messages from the Outbox. As messages queue up in the Outbox, they keep slipping out on their own when the program detects a connection to the Net. I'd be happier to see the messages queuing up in the Outbox and going only on a forced Send/Receive -- as I could do in Outlook. 4. Accidental message send off Many times the messages get sent off accidentally when I'm still typing them up. I find that happening when the mouse cursor remains poised on the Send button and somehow the Send option getting activated with the combination of accidental pressing of some keys or possibly the pressure of some part of the left hand on the mousepad! Unless I consciously move the mouse cursor away from the Send button, it ends up there as the Send button appears in the same place as the New Message Compose button. Thanks in advance for your team's efforts to resolve the above. [Bug 300262] Re: no longer goes offline when network disconnected
The fix is only partial. Evolution realizes when the internet connection is lost/disabled while it is running. But when I close Evolution while there is connectivity, then disable networking, then re-start Evolution, it does not switch to offline mode but tries to contact the server(s). This used to work before Intrepid, if I'm not mistaken. -- no longer goes offline when network disconnected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/300262 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
