[Bug 372553] [NEW] Top right hand corner of all windows - no minimise, maximise, close
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Ok, so i just upgraded to 9.04. while upgrading i lost power (to my entire house). When i turned my computer back on, Windows was working fine (dual booting) but linux was having SERIOUS issues. Thankfully i got ubuntu working again.. but i had to do the upgrade in CTRL ALT F1 environment... Everything seemed fine after i restarted my computer... i got the GUI working again, and it was all looking dandy (minus the fact the minimise, max, and close options wheren't showing up). Next i did Sudo update sudo upgrade in terminal to finish anything that didn't get done when the GUI wasn't working. (Something about dpkg error... in the CTRL ALT F1 environment ) Got everything up to date and restarted my computer. Still no minimise, maximise, close so i did Sudo update, sudo upgrade again, and it came back with no results... Now im stuck Basic info Ubuntu 9.04 ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=74e5b6ce-6edc-4966-b040-47aa7698d59c MachineType: GATEWAY T5020 Package: linux-image-2.6.27-11-generic 2.6.27-11.31 ProcCmdLine: root=UUID=7ae0e727-8a35-4046-b5a2-2fd7c2523b62 ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.27-11.31-generic SourcePackage: linux UnreportableReason: This is not a genuine Ubuntu package ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- Top right hand corner of all windows - no minimise, maximise, close https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/372553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 372571] Re: evolution stopped working after recent updates.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). If clicking the icon ni the menu bar does not open Evolution, please run the command evolution (without quotation marks) in a terminal window and post the terminal output, along with the other requested items (and anything else that may assist in diagnosing the problem). Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. [Bug 191889] Re: [MASTER] [WORKAROUND] Offline Mode feature fails to detect proper online state for networks that are managed outside of network manager.
Ok, it was reported in February, now it is well into May, Jaunty has been released already. Has anyone even tried to fix this? I think the about:config workaround above does seem to fix it for Firefox, but is there a reason why we shouldn't just force that as a default or if that isn't feasible to permit browsing to the local loopback/net addresses at least regardless of network status? NetworkManager does many great things, but making programs dependent upon it is ridiculous. It doesn't always know if a particular address will be available or not. If I am travelling and I do not have a network connection Firefox prevents me from browsing to localhost. That is plain stupid! Konqueror browses to localhost just fine without a network. I am running Jaunty with the latest updates installed, but it still isn't fixed. -- [MASTER] [WORKAROUND] Offline Mode feature fails to detect proper online state for networks that are managed outside of network manager. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191889 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 153882] Re: Evince should not always remember all printing options
The bug is still there in Ubuntu 9.10, with Evince 2.24.1. From a user's point of view this is a regression. After Evince is closed and reopened, some printing options are remembered when they should not. Specifically, these are remembered: - print whole document / current page - number of pages per side The symptoms are the same as the bugs previously reported. And no, this is not a wishlist, but a serious user interface bug. [Bug 372324] Re: Notebook does not suspend - not a kernel- but a design problem
I traced now the problem down: there seems no dependency to another problem telling that an application asks for prepending the resume. Hot-Fix: if you still like to keep your system gnome and like to use the integration with gnome-power-manager: killall -TERM gnome-power-manager; gnome-power-manager gnome-power-manager needs to be fixed. It seems not to store the situation in any file. If it resist to accept the resume because it thinks it would be wrong (which was'nt, in my case), then the restart of the program helps. [Bug 44989] Re: Doesn't print (large) PDF files
Well, this problem was first reported in 2006, three years ago. The proposed solution appears to be straightforward. Evince could simply use lpr for printing adobe files. For the application evince, it's a huge bug, because pdf is the standard document format and printing pdfs should be supported flawlessly by a document viewer. For Ubuntu, it's an important problem too since, hey, evince is the standard document viewer shipped with Ubuntu. Viewing and printing pdf documents is something I do quite a lot. [Bug 372609] [NEW] problem getting emails from web.de
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution problem getting emails from web.de since I downgrade from ubuntu 9.04 back to 8.10. The sytem 8.10 is actually installed on a fresh formated new partition, but the evolution database (and all other data on /home/USER/*) remains the same! there is now a mismatch of columns reported between evolution folder and the received web.de-folder. Update: I'm using a laptop with an external monitor. Laptop resolution is 1024x768, external VGA monitor resolution is 1280x1024. [Bug 372647] [NEW] Clock and Weather applet don't show any weather info
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-applets It is a freshly installed Ubuntu 9.04 (64 bit) laptop. On the UI Clock (2.26.0) applet seems to provide more space for the weather info (as it is a bit wider) but no weather and temperature are displayed. For a 2nd test I configured Weather Report (2.26.0). Its tooltip says Updating... and after a while Retrieval failed. - I have already uninstalled gnome-panel (1:2.26.0-0ubuntu7) and installed again. - I have already tested with a new user account. - My timezone (Europe/Budapest) is the same as the location set in both applets. None of these helped. I moved from a 8.04 desktop where Clock was working perfect...
