I don't know if this a relevant comment to toss into the mix, but a sudo gnome-system-monitor shows all the other processes that are probably daemons and anything run in sudo, as far as I can tell. I find no sudo in my process list in non-sudo-ed gnome-system-monitor. [Bug 376824] [NEW] ever slowing access to large mail folders (solved with maildir trick)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution When folders approach 2+GB data and 15+K messages, all activities which involve folders access become slower and slower, taking tens of seconds also during message retrieval with POP3. The larger the folder content, the slower the access. I argued it was because of folder implementation as mbox files. Thus I applied a trick to store all email in maildir format (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+question/56412) and it's now working great (with XFS file system). But the actual keys are in Bel. *bug* 4) Clicking on the applet doesn't work at all. The text stays Fra and the layout stays Bel. *bug* 5) Right clic on the applet group French Bépo. Now the layout is Fra. And the applet is working again, I can change layout by clicking on it. [Bug 344198] Re: .ppsx (Office 2007 slideshows) files not recognized
Somebody just sent me a PPSX file and I ran into the same issue (using Jaunty up-to-date as of today). According to Wikipedia[1] PPSX is a Microsoft Office 2007 XML Show document. Ubuntu recognizes it as a ZIP file. If I change the extension to PPTX, it's associated with OpenOffice.org Presentation. If I open it, I still have to select a filter however. Selecting the Microsoft Powerpoint 2007 XML filter opens it successfully. Proposal: associate PPSX with OpenOffice.org Presentation just like PPTX because OO.org can open the file type.
