[Bug 383039] [NEW] gedit crashes on large text files

2009-06-03 Thread Colin Warren
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

I am trying to open a 480MB text file (503604718 bytes to be exact) and
gedit crashes suddenly when I try to open it. My guess would be that it
is unable to handle that large of files.

[Bug 379895] Re: Trash applet sometimes shows wrong icon when is not empty in Jaunty

2009-06-03 Thread marco.pallotta
A similar bug was present in Hardy (the trash icon didn't reflect the fact that
trash was empty or full but you had either to click on it, to fix the issue, or
restart the session or the system).
I made some tests on Jaunty but I hadn't able to reproduce the issue in this
distro.

[Bug 305428] Re: evolution-data-server eats memory like crazy

2009-06-03 Thread Izzy
@Ivlo: 200Mb you can almost count as normal behavior (though I agree
this is already far to much, and to me indicates some memory leak).
Guess you don't have any WebCal resource in use for (one of) your
calendar(s)? If you want a zero more at the end, try that :(

I'm quite disappointed it takes that long for a fix. The initial report
is already 6 months old. Well, at least the bugs status has been risen
to Triaged - other bugs I'm following did not even manage that after 2
years, so I still live with the work-arounds...

Never abandon hope - wasn't there a saying hope dies last?

[Bug 121057] Re: totem browser plugin slider does not move while playing, and the mp3 file cannot be re-played.

2009-06-03 Thread Shompol
I have the same problem both on Intrepod 8.10 and Jaunty 9.04 with
totem-gstreamer plugin.

I need this badly because when my grandfather watches a movie on
bestrussiantv.com and it gets interrupted, he has to restart it and
position to where he got dropped, but the slider on Totem stays dead.

Windows Media Player plugin has an operational position slider and I
will have to downgrade him back to Windows XP unless I can find a way
out of this.

I can verify the bug is still in Jaunty. Using NVidia driver version

I used Savvas Radevic's fix as a workaround it works but at the cost
of disabling screen savers.

Nothing has changed since the last error raport: The icons are far too large
both horisontally and vertically. Specifically in small screen computers like
eeePC this is a real nuisance,
It is said, that these problems are not reason of Evolution but of GNome. If
so, give a hint, how to set Gnome so that the icons+text can be changed to text
and make please a script to make corrections to Gnome config.
If you find how to make such script, you could make the correction in Evolution

[Bug 60824] Re: the calendar export feature should have a menu item

2009-06-03 Thread Mistofelees
What else do you expect?

I'd expect to have a tool to Import and Export ALL my calendars by just
one click-click without the need to go through umpty screens asking for
names etc for the calendars.

I have two Ubuntu desktops and three Ubuntu laptops, two M$W laptops
plus some PDA and Symbian phones with calendars. I would appreciate, if
I could make a copy of my calendars to another PC with USB stick, to my
own servers over lines and over Bluetooth to the PDA and phones.

Going many times through the Import / Save screens is not what I expect of a
modern calendar system.
In the future I hope I find a menu for personally built
Import/Export/Publish/Get_Published/Sync profiles.

[Bug 383015] Re: When I try to go to EditPreferences in Evolution, it quits out unexpectedly.

2009-06-03 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 259802] Re: Imported Calendars (csv, vcal, ical) fail to become visible on evolution after import completed.

2009-06-03 Thread Mistofelees
I'm having the same problem in two of my computers as well as two of my
friends. It gives some funny feelings about Evolution, if the
developers don't want to read error reports. In this case there has been
error reports about this same case over half a year,

If you want more information, please ask and describe what it is you
want. If a rapport comes from somebody not involved in the development
of the program, she doesn't know the fancy terms you are using in your
own circles.

I tought I could take Evolution for a system wide calendar system in our
EDU, but if this is the sittuation, I will try to find some other
program.

One problem is that Evolution is packaked to Ubuntu and specially to
Remix (9.04). It got to be left out.

[Bug 366379] Re: Deleted files does not show in Nautilus trash

2009-06-03 Thread Blancmange
This bug also occurs for me with a new system on which I've installed
Ubuntu 9.04 -many times. The trash can simply does not work. Deleted
files end up in ~/.local/share/Trash/files but not in Trash:/// or in
the Trash applet.

I asked my flatmate (who is also using 9.04) about the problem and
tested it on his machine and the same problem occurs. He hadn't noticed
because he normally uses rm to delete things as a matter of course.

After reading the above, I tried rebooting the machine (either for the
first time or the second). The trash can appears to be working normally.
Phew! I guess it's safe to ship this clunky old PC to my friend's
daughter without having to explain to her why files can't truly be
deleted. (Recalls the xkcd cartoon along the lines of Parents: Tell
your children about Linux before someone else does.)

That my Ubuntu-geek flatmate hasn't needed to restart his system since
he got 9.04 does say something positive about Ubuntu. The number of
restarts required by the Windows 2000 installer today made me dizzy..

2009-06-03 Thread Valentijn Sessink
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gamin

Gamin Version: 0.1.9-2ubuntu2 (Ubuntu 8.04) seems to not notice file
creation events on an NFS4 share. It *does* recognize local file
creation under NFS version 3.

First, we'll mount with NFSv3:
machine# mount -t nfs server:/home /mnt/
machine$ gvfs-monitor-dir /mnt/valentyn/

[ in other terminal: ]machine$ touch /mnt/valentyn/demofile

Directory Monitor Event:
Child = /mnt/valentyn/demofile
Event = CREATED
Directory Monitor Event:
Child = /mnt/valentyn/demofile
Event = ATTRIB CHANGED
Directory Monitor Event:
Child = /mnt/valentyn/demofile
Event = CHANGES_DONE_HINT

Now, we'll try this again with nfsv4:
machine# mount -t nfs4 server:/home /mnt/
machine$ gvfs-monitor-dir /mnt/valentyn/

[ in other terminal: ]machine$ touch /mnt/valentyn/demofile

Directory Monitor Event:
Child = /mnt/valentyn/demofile
Event = ATTRIB CHANGED
Directory Monitor Event:
Child = /mnt/valentyn/demofile
Event = CHANGES_DONE_HINT

As you see, the ATTRIB CHANGED and CHANGES_DONE_HINT events show up, but
the CREATED event is missing.

This only goes for files, if you create a directory, it will show up
immediately (as expected).

[Bug 373167] Re: After installing Thunderbird, preferred applications shows both Mozilla Thunderbird and Thunderbird

2009-06-03 Thread John Vivirito
It has nothing to do with thunderbird packaging. it is a desktop bug.
what ever controls the prefered apps entry. I am unable to reproduce
this bug still. With 2.0.0.21 nor 3.0

Please update me as to how this is a thunderbird bug with packaging.
I'm guessing that Sebastien can confirm this is not a thunderbird bug other
wise desktop-bugs wouldnt have been assigned.
Please let me know what package you think it is Sebastien.

[Bug 383132] [NEW] Sound-Juicer on Ubuntu 9.04 Does not do Leading Zeroes Any More

2009-06-03 Thread James Wendt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: sound-juicer

I am running Sound Juicer 2.26.1 on Ubuntu 9.04 on J.J.

When I extract my disks the numbering scheme no longer includes the
leading zero (used to be 01, 02, 03, etc is not 1,2,3, etc.)

This is causing issues with my cataloging and I'd very much like to go
back to the leading zero way of life.

Any thoughts? Please help. I have a crazy ex-wife and a stressful job,
I'd like to at least have my Ubuntu installation be a source of serenity
for me. :-)

Thank you.

[Bug 377908] Re: deskbar-applet segfaults when I type single e

[Bug 373167] Re: After installing Thunderbird, preferred applications shows both Mozilla Thunderbird and Thunderbird

2009-06-03 Thread Bruno Girin
John, the reason why it looks like a Thunderbird bug is that it appears
that the Thunderbird package installs a thunderbird and a mozilla-
thunderbird link in /usr/bin, both pointing to
/usr/lib/thunderbird/thunderbird. If you remove the mozilla-thunderbird
link, it resolves the problem. So steps to reproduce:

cd /usr/bin
sudo ln -s ../lib/thunderbird/thunderbird mozilla-thunderbird

If you now go to System - Preferences - Preferred Applications, you
will see both a Thunderbird option and a Mozilla Thunderbird one. If
you remove the /usr/bin/mozilla-thunderbird link, the second option
disappears from preferred applications.

It looks like the /usr/bin/mozilla-thunderbird link that is created when
installing the thunderbird package is superfluous. Or is this the
intended behaviour and does it mean that the preferred applications
preference tool should show only one option even if both links are
present?

[Bug 383141] [NEW] nautilus dies whenever I copy a directory which has some files to the same directory in which the copied directory exists.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

nautilus dies whenever I copy a directory which has some files to the
same directory in which the copied directory exists. If the directory
has no file, nautilus successfully copies the directory with the name
'Name (사본)'. In here, '사본' is Korean of 'Copied'.

Re: [Bug 373167] Re: After installing Thunderbird, preferred applications shows both Mozilla Thunderbird and Thunderbird

2009-06-03 Thread John Vivirito
On 06/03/2009 08:01 AM, Bruno Girin wrote:

Or is this the
intended behaviour and does it mean that the preferred applications
preference tool should show only one option even if both links are
 present?

Thanks that makes sense. I haven't looked at 2.0 debian/ in a while. I
know that thunderbird-3.0 no longer has this issue but i couldn't
reproduce it with tb2 either. I'm not going to have time for ~1 month to
look at this but i will ping Alexander and ask him to look into it or Fabien
