[Bug 343067] Re: Playing a DVD iso in totem causes the iso to be mounted in .gvfs and not played.
Hi. I have exacly the same issue. Running 9.04 amd64 which was upgraded from 8.10 amd64. It worked fine in 8.10 and now does not in 9.04. I have all the gstreamer plugins installed (good, bad, ugly, gnolin etc) and libdvdcss, and previously I could drag an ISO to the totem window for it to play. Then with the 8.10 release (I think) I could right click an ISO and play it in totem, as well as play an ISO over an SSH link, which was great. Now in Ubuntu 9.04 it seems playing ISO is indeed broken. I start it from terminal and do not get any errors when it fails to play the DVD. I do not think that this issue should be simply fobbed off to upstream. There are other grave packaging errors with totem in Ubuntu 9.04, such as the upnp mess. It is not unlikely that this is also an Ubuntu bug and not an upstream. If we just forward this to upstream it's not going to go anywhere. It makes more sense that Canonical looks at it first to decide if it is upstream or not rather than just passing the buck immediately. -- Playing a DVD iso in totem causes the iso to be mounted in .gvfs and not played. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/343067 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 338682] Re: OpenType Fonts associated as ODF Template Files
I took a look a the filetypes using assoGiate, which clearly shows the problem. The mimetype application/x-font-otf doesn't have the filename pattern defined, while the application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.formula-template (which is the problematic MIME here) does have the filename pattern. The easiest workaround is as follows: Install and run assogiate (package is in universe), find the application/x-font-otf type and edit it, at the filename tab add pattern *.otf. I am not sure how to create regular formula template, but when I change extension of some formula document (*.odf) to .otf, it gets detected as OpenType font too, but since I almost never work with OpenOffice formulas this is not a big deal for me. As you can see, this problem is clearly MIME related, now it depends whether the problem is in gnome-mime-data or shared-mime-info. -- OpenType Fonts associated as ODF Template Files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/338682 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is the registrant for shared-mime-info. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: gnome-games (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: gnome-games (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid ** Changed in: gnome-games (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) -- all programs crash randomly... for example the movie play loads a clip and then crashes, and 4 in a row game crashes whenever someone wins https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/383402 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 338695] Re: Banshee album art is blurred in notification bubbles
there are plenty of bugs like this that have multiple, separate projects on them Yes, single bug reports have been used in the past for things like library/language transitions on many different packages. However, that tends to waste more time (in extra bug mail to uninterested people) than it saves (in sharing code and ideas). So it's not clear-cut, but in general, two projects/packages should share a bug report only if it's likely that the same diff will fix the bug in both places (e.g. Mozilla Firefox vs. Ubuntu firefox), or if there's only one bug but the respective people need to collaborate in working out which software needs fixing (this often happens with Notify OSD vs. gnome-settings- daemon) . -- Banshee album art is blurred in notification bubbles https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/338695 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

So, my mom's Ubuntu Hardy (yeah I know, old) machine has this problem and I took a look at it this morning. I think it works now. [Bug 383616] [NEW] Add-in Manager untranslated/misterious strings
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: f-spot 0.5.0.3-1ubuntu6 (jaunty) I'm part of the Guadalinex distro developers team and one of our prior tasks is to make a full Spanish distro. In the task of getting 'f-spot' fully translated, I have found a really weird case that I haven't been able to resolve... The matter is that there are some strings in the 'Preferences/Manage Extensions' which remain untranslated. We can find, for example: * Add-in Manager * The following add-ins are currently installed: * etc... I check that the 'f-spot' translations are managed directly from package source, it's not included in any langpack, so I went to look into f-spot code/.pot/.po. I started looking for those strings I mentioned, but I could'nt find them nor in the code neither in the .po files... I realized that those strings were correctly translated in .po files, matching correct source strings, but they were not being displayed translated. I checked that Add-ins Manager is now substituted by Extensions Manager mostly everywhere in code and that made me wonder if strings in code (in English) were being showed in GUI as they were in code... And they weren't!! I'll illustrate it with some examples: * es.po #: ../mono-addins/Mono.Addins.Gui/gtk-gui/Mono.Addins.Gui.AddinInstallerDialog.cs:36 #: ../mono-addins/Mono.Addins.Gui/gtk-gui/Mono.Addins.Gui.AddinManagerDialog.cs:58 msgid Extension Manager msgstr Gestor de extensiones * mono-addins/Mono.Addins.Gui/gtk- gui/Mono.Addins.Gui.AddinInstallerDialog.cs:36 this.Title = Mono.Unix.Catalog.GetString(Extension Manager); * String showed in GUI when launching f-spot (even launching it in English) Add-ins Manager It is a really weird case... ** Description changed: - Binary package hint: brasero + Binary package hint: brasero 2.26.0-0ubuntu3 (jaunty) When burning Video Projects brasero hangs in the process of converting files. Sometimes the progress bar just stops and the app hangs forever and sometimes it starts to increase the estimated time up to infinite. I have tried to convert these two different XviD files to SVCD/VCD: * 700mb file: AVI, 640 x 272, 25.00 fps, video: XviD, audio: MPEG-1 Layer 3 (stereo, 48000 Hz) * 12mb file: AVI, 720 x 576, 25.00 fps, video: XviD, audio: uncompressed PCM (stereo, 48000 Hz) I only had success with the small one using VCD as output, but randomly, it failed aswell... I have tried to convert very different files with sucess: * The SAME 12mb file converted (via ffmpeg) to DivX4 and FFmpeg DivX * 16mb file: MPEG sequence, v1, system multiplex * 41mb file: Ogg data, Skeleton v3.0 * 25mb file: Ogg data, Theora video I have attached 4 brasero debug log files (brasero -g) for the 4 different failed (well, 1 one of them is the success log for the small XviD file which sometimes works) tests I've done. -- Brasero hangs forever while converting xvid video files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/383556 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to brasero in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
