[Bug 384200] [NEW] Edit button in tasks field of date/time drop-down doesn't work
Public bug reported: I have my evolution deleted, and use Tasks(package:tasks) as a substitution for tasks management. However, when I clicked the edit button in the tasks field of date/time drop-down, nothing happens. It used to open evolution for editing the tasks. Thanks for your interest in helping improve Ubuntu. I agree with you that this is a bug, but, as Sebastien stated, it's inconvenient to do this change in Ubuntu because of the additional translation work and divergence from upsteam rit creates. This doesn't mean it can't be done, but it'd really be better if this could be achieved upstream; maybe raising the topic on GNOME's desktop- devel-list, as suggested in the last comment of http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=331919, would move the matter forward and help reach a distribution-wide consensus. -- Totem's menu entry should read Totem Movie Player https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105685 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 105685] Re: Totem's menu entry should read Totem Movie Player
Upstream has /absolutely/ no intention of doing this. Their interpretation of the Desktop Entry Spec is basically along the lines of how we want the menu to look, which is the reason we have applications named such delights as Take Screenshot. The only way this is ever gonna be fixed is if Ubuntu decides to enforce an actual, coherent application naming policy. People including myself have been wanting this for years but it is clear our translation framework is not as efficient as, say, Facebook's (they have a full translation into Pirate, for god's sake!), so we're just admitting defeat and saying it's too much translation work. Frankly, it's a minor annoyance at best and while little warts of ugly like this do threaten the overall polished feel of our OS, we do indeed have bigger fish to fry and arguing with the gods that be about this is just a waste of breath. -- Totem's menu entry should read Totem Movie Player https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105685 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 135548] Re: [Gutsy] Action on critical battery isn't triggered - regression
My laptop does indeed hibernate (or suspend) succesfully, but last night I forgot to plug the AC power and let the laptop on. It didn't hibernate. The problem, just in case anybody is having it, is that the time profiles are very optimistic in my machine, probably due to the fact that I haven't let the battery drain fully, ever. So, last night GPM thought that there were still time left when in fact the battery was empty. I wasn't there (but I'm making the test right now) but I'm more or less sure that GPM issued the low battery warning because I swear I've seen it at some point in the past. I'm not so sure about the critical warning, since it should happen when only 5 minutes of battery remains. Given that the time profile was so optimistic, the laptop probably had the battery empty when GPM thought that there was half an hour left :((( I don't know if people usually drains their batteries, but if they don't, time profiles are going to be very optimistic. Using time left for taking actions is, in that case, dangerous. Battery percentages should be much safer unless the battery lies about the percentages (which looks like it is very common...). The solution is to tweak by hand threshold values using gconf-editor and use percentage instead of time left if profiles are way too optimistic. I'm now carrying a test to see if time left reported by GPM has to do anything with reality in my laptop. BTW, anybody knows where to go to know how to interpret discharge-time- profiles? I don't understand mine and maybe it explains the wrong behaviour of GPM in my laptop :? ** Attachment added: discharge-time-profile.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/27590716/discharge-time-profile.png -- [Gutsy] Action on critical battery isn't triggered - regression https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/135548 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I followed Tom Muse's advice and removed MoviePlayer. I tried to remove MoviePlayer(Gstreamer) also, but my computer wouldn't let me (so to speak) because too many other applications are tied to it. [Bug 50198] Re: Timeout has expired error on resume from hibernate
This is happening for me as a new regression after upgrading to Karmic. It happens 100% of the time coming back from suspend, and I think also from hibernate.
