[Bug 15442] Re: panels change their position between logins
So in gconf-editor go to apps-panel -general and find the corresponding entry for you in my case toplevel_id_list and reorder the panels in the list in the order you want them to appear in this case the first is at the edge of the screen. Thank Odin, and thank you. After switching the order of ids in that list, it worked! For the first time in literally years of using Gnome in Ubuntu, I was able to have two panels at the bottom of the screen in the order I specified. -- panels change their position between logins https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/15442 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 372132] Re: Create Document Templates difficult to use
I agree with Sancho. This is definitely a paper cut. The risk-of-tons-of-useless-items-in-template-menu is really NOT justified IMHO, compared to the bad user experience it gives, as reported here. I can testify the same with user used to this behavior and bothered. It's really not a big deal to at least have the 3 (or 4) most used OOo documents: word proc, spreadsheet, presentation and drawing. How much ton of useless item will I have ?? And for the *really* bothered users (I'm talking about geeks), they'll know where to go to remove any so-called-annoying entries. -- Create Document Templates difficult to use https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/372132 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 389414] [NEW] evolution calendar does not handle time zones

[Bug 194213] Re: Dim files when you 'cut' them for later 'paste' action
Dimming the icon is better than nothing but I think the problem goes a little deeper. What do you do if the user copies, rather than cuts, something? Dim that as well? The dimming doesn't seem to make as much sense for copying. I think this thread: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel- discuss/2009-June/008724.html attests to the fact that there is a deeper usability problem with clipboard and cut, copy and paste. There should be a visualisation (a panel applet, possibly) of the clipboard with the ability to preview its contents. This applet should implement some sort of notification when a cut or copy occurs to show that the content has gone into the clipboard (just like we have an animation when a window is minimised to the panel), and it should be possible to put more than one item in the clipboard. [Bug 389343] Re: Brasero crashes on startup
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash- file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Right, lots of interesting thoughts and opinions, but no conclusion :) And the bug is waiting for the fix! Since there is no better solution than Eject, this is what we should use. It may not be perfect, but it's much better than unmount. Also, I suggest moving this option up (mockup attached), as it's likely that when the user right-clicks on the removable media, this is the option he's looking for. ** Attachment added: eject.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/28115284/eject.png -- Unmount in volume right-click menu, is tech-speak and undiscoverable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/28835 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
