[Bug 281131] Re: Signatures, When I have made a signature in HTML format and I save it. the next time that I used again I have the hole html format aroud mij signature. It changed completly.
Hi all, I have the same problem. Actually, Evolution does not save properly the signature type in gconf database. If you create an HTML signature using Evolution preferences, the signature will be correctly rendered in any new mail until you restart Evolution. After the restart, the signature is considered as plain text and the HTML code appears. A workaround is to launch gconf-editor and then modify the key /apps/evolution/mail/signatures (which contains the list of signatures used by evolution) the following way : 1. Find the problematic signature in the list. 2. Change format attribut of tag signature from text/plain to text/html. [Bug 408762] [NEW] HTML signature not saved as such if initially created as plain text
Public bug reported: Package: evolution-2.26.1-0ubuntu2 Release: Ubuntu 9.04 Architecture: amd64 Description: I modified a plain text signature to become an HTML encoded signature. The newly modified signature was correctly rendered in new mails until I restarted Evolution. [Bug 408764] [NEW] missing window decorations after reboot
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity After each reboot there are no window decorations. I have to (re)set the vissual effects after each reboot in the Uiterlijk (dutch app name) or Themes application in the System - Preferences menu to restore them. However this only works for the current session. I completely removed all compiz packages to rule out this beeing a compiz problem. Also reinstalled the metacity packages. The metacity --replace command only solves this for the current session also. This problem occured some time ago after an update, but i don't know which one exactly. I assume this is a metacity problem because i don't know what else it could be, but i'm not that much of an expert. I am aware of the fact that other people had this problem before, but al the opted solutions did not work for me. [Bug 293548] Re: can't save file in samba share
Well as usual in the Linux world we see bug reports being closed when the problem has not been fixed. If you try to use smbmount (ie mount.cifs) in Jaunty it still fails when trying to save files. Notice the person who said it was fixed had to change their configuration to get it to work! That's a kludge to their system to work around a bug in Ubuntu. No-one should have to change any parameters to smbmount or fstab to get their SMB shares mounted when the same commands worked fine in Hardy. Clearly a bug has been written between Hardy and Intrepid and is still here in Jaunty. My (former) Hardy and (present) Jaunty configuration uses this Sessions startup command: smbmount '\\192.168.1.2\public' /home/andrew/naspublic -o guest This worked fine in Hardy Heron, but neither GEdit nor OpenOffice nor Audacious can save changes to files opened from the mountpoint. They should be treated identically to any other filesystem file, and I repeat it worked perfectly in Hardy. There's three short-term workarounds, none of which are nice: A) Uninstall Jaunty and go back to Hardy, or B) Switch to using Windows XP, or C) Copy to local drive, edit, copy back. Option B actually is the easiest since I dual boot Windows anyway and could install Microsoft Windows version of OOo. Would prefer it if Ubuntu programmers could just fix the bug they added. -- can't save file in samba share https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/293548 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 408831] [NEW] killing windows in metacity
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity For windows that won't let themselves be officially closed it would be nice to be able to kill them (ala other window managers). The motivating case for me is in firefox I went to Tools = Addons = Get Ubuntu Extensions and this brought up another window (titled gnone-app-install) that has been sitting around for ages not doing anything. Admittedly this is a bug in this program, but programs will always have bugs and there should be a way to work around this (short of doing a kill from the command line, which I know is not what a kill window would do). [Bug 408836] [NEW] eSATA hotplug not working well with Nautilus
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus eSATA hotplug not working well with Nautilus Hi, I have an external eSATA disk I use for backups. I am using it with several machines, including two ubuntu-9.04 Jaunty, fully updated, machines. Behavior on both is very similar. The following concerns an Acer Aspire 8930 installation. I am fully able to use it from the command line, so I'm reasonably happy ;) Problem is Nautilus is working just half-way: If I power-up with the disk attached it *is* recognized and Nautilus *does* know it is a removable disk because it shows the umount buttons beside its mount-points (under /media). I can detach the disk just clicking on them and then detaching the drive. At this point (correctly) the partitions disappear from the [Places] menu. If I have an open window on Computer the icons do *not* automagically disappear, even after refresh; I don't know if it's significant. Any subsequent opening of Computer does not show the (now unavailable) partitions. So far, so good. Problem is if I reattach the drive (or attach it after boot) nothing is displayed anymore in Nautilus. [Bug 381116]

[Bug 408873] [NEW] gnome-screensaver no longer locks the screen
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver The screensaver no longer locks my screen automatically. If I select lock screen from the user switcher applet it does lock, but it never kicks in on its own. I have configured it so it locks after a relatively short period of time, and it worked in Jaunty, but has broken in the upgrade to Karmic. This is rather important for me, because I have a couple of very inquisitive 4-year-olds...
