[Bug 421350] [NEW] Keyboard navigation with PgUp/PgDn doesn't move selection
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus When navigating folders containing many files, Page Up and Page Down keys behavior is inconsistent with arrow keys. Arrows move the selection to the next file, and if needed, scroll the viewport so it is visible. However, PgUp/PgDn simply scroll the viewport, not switching the selection. Therefore, if I press down arrow after several PgDn presses, meaning to advance the viewport one line further, it jumps back to where the original selected file was. This is inconsistent with, for example, text editors and browsers. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in gstreamer. When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. ** Package changed: ubuntu = gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu) -- gstreamer not working with Quickcam Messenger Plus with 2.6.31 kernel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/421145 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gstreamer0.10 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 11334] Re: Copy-Paste doesn't work if the source is closed before the paste
thank you for reclassifying bug # 417758. IMHO it should not have taken hours of correspondence culminating in a tantrum to get the matter attended to, but is appreciated none the less. also IMHO... a distribution targeting ordinary users would benefit from a consistent stream of feedback from such users. the current structure and atmosphere of the bug reporting system(s) are not very inviting to ordinary users. this may be necessary as bugs reports must be vetted and classified before bugs can be fixed. if the experience of filing bug reports cannot be improved, perhaps it's time to create a problem reporting system for ordinary, non-technical users that is friendlier and less rigorous. Fortunately this works well in KDE. This -could- be the underlying cause of bug #7986. This is a general issue that seems to be independant of any individual program. Pick any text field that supports copying, copy some text. Paste into any other text field. It works. Close the source window or program. Paste now does nothing. The example I just verified this with is gedit to gedit. Also occurs with openoffice to gedit. In some cases, like OpenOffice and Firefox, simply closing the source window won't cause the problem. It only happens if the entire program is closed down. When I copy (Ctrl + C, or right click and Copy) text from somewhere and after that close the program where it is, the clipboard gets empty.
