[Bug 428035] [NEW] Authentication Window falls behind windows
You have been subscribed to a public bug: As of Karmic Alpha 5, when a program needs authentication, the window will not appear at the top of the desktop, but rather at the back. The window should pop up in front. I am running desktop effects. When I turn them off, then the window will pop up in front. However, sometimes it will try and place the window smartly and place the window in the corner or something. [Bug 428273] Re: unable to view remote computer thru remote desktop viewer
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in vinagre. When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. ** Package changed: ubuntu = vinagre (Ubuntu) -- unable to view remote computer thru remote desktop viewer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/428273 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to vinagre in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 407621] Re: (design decision) Icons missing from context menu , dialogue buttons , firefox bookmark favicons
I agree with Christoph Korn. Without icons and due to the indentation the system menu looks as if the icons are missing. That was exactly my first thought after upgrading. After working without icons for a few hours I realized how important they are to me. Without icons I actually have to read the menu entries. I am much quicker in recognizing the combination of icons and text than text alone. So for me that means that each time I set up Ubuntu I have to change the behavior back to the old one. I strongly vote for keeping the icons in place, in menus and on buttons. -- (design decision) Icons missing from context menu , dialogue buttons , firefox bookmark favicons https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/407621 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 165113] Re: gksudo nautilus won't set ownership/permissions on files below
pjman's explanation notwithstanding, this is a bug and a particularly annoying one at that. Not fixing this for years reflects poorly on Ubuntu and Gnome. Here is just one way the bug can be reproduced: gksudo nautilus copy a directory (owner is someone, group is someone) from one partition to another the directory in the destination partition will have the owner as root and the group as root right click the destination directory in gksudo nautilus go to Properties Permissions click on Apply Permissions to Enclosed Files All the enclosed files will now have the owner and group as root Now, right click the destination directory in gksudo nautilus and change the owner and group to someone Click on Apply Permissions to Enclosed Files *Now, the owner and group of the directory is changed to someone. However, the owner and group of the files in the directory remains root.* This is the BUG. The only way to change the owner and group of the enclosed files now, is to use sudo chown -R on the destination directory, because it can't be done in nautilus using Apply Permissions to Enclosed Files -- gksudo nautilus won't set ownership/permissions on files below https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/165113 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 424511] Re: gnome-panel and window manager do not start on login
Hi, Hmmm, I'm not convinced there. The old version's postrm script doesn't unregister schema's. Schema's are unregistered on upgrade by the old versions prerm script, before the new versions files are unpacked. Yes, you are right, it is my mistake. The schemas are then re-registered by the new versions postinst script. By this stage, the files of gnome-session and gnome-session-bin should already be unpacked. This is not true in my case as you could see in my dpkg.log. Note that gnome-session.schemas is moved from package gnome-session to gnome- session-bin. Gnome-session-bin was unpacked and configured before old gnome-session is upgraded. Gnome-session-bin brings gnome- session.schemas and it is registered by postint script. In this stage, gnome-session.schemas is still registered by old gnome-session. Double registration is no problem. During upgrading gnome-session from old version with gnome- session.schemas to new version without gnome-session.schemas, gnome- session.schemas is unregistered by old prerm, but not registered by new postinst script. The result of this process is that gnome-session.schemas is not registered although schemas was twice registered and once unregistered. In fact I do not understood why there is no conflict when both old gnome-session and new gnome-session-bin are unpacked at the some time and both contains own gnome-session.schemas. [Bug 428500] Re: Gnome Power Manager does not detect battery
Thank you for filing this bug report and helping to make Ubuntu better, I was able to confirm this as well on the latest Karmic. I think there is enough information here for a developer to have a look at it so I will mark it as Triaged and let them handle it from here. [Bug 428515] [NEW] devicekit-power or gnome-power-manager provides incorrect battery percentage
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager Last night my AC cord was unplugged and the laptop ran it's power out. Today, gpm displays my battery as 100%. My laptop (macbook) has LEDs on the battery to show it's status, they were correct. `acpi` currently indicates Battery 0: Charging, 59%, 00:46:33 until charged If I unplug AC, GPM's time estimates are seemingly correct for what I should get at a 59% charge, and the percentage begins to tick down from 100%. It is like gpm is recalibrating itself on my battery, but it was already rather accurate before. I don't understand why it is displaying incorrect data. Unfortunately this is an issue that will likely solve itself in 45 minutes. I'm not sure what else I can do to document it.
