[Bug 447620] Re: Please update the coherence plugin

2009-10-10 Thread fabrice_sp
Hi,

I don't think it makes any sense to have the pot file in the debdiff, as it
does not help in fixing the bug reported there. Please fix your debdiff.
Anyway, this is a main package, so subscribing main sponsors, and unsubscribing

[Bug 447805] [NEW] Misaligned applets in GDM

2009-10-10 Thread Manuel Muradás
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

(I don't thinks this is a bug, but I don't know how to fill an
Enhancement Request with ubuntu-bug command, sorry.)

Language, Keyboard and Session applets are misaligned with the user selection
box in GDM login screen.
This seems more noticeable in very large screens.
They look centered in relation with the space between the left edge of the
screen and the accessibility/clock/exit applets.

Maybe a picture helps me to explain this better (I have attached
GDM.jpg).

[Bug 346964] Re: menu items selected from screen 1 open on screen 0

2009-10-10 Thread TJ
I've repackaged my previous Jaunty libglibc package to use yakovlev's
patch since it seems to perform better than my original upstream-
backport patch (which came from grossly refactored code).

In particular, yakolev's patch doesn't cause the launching of external
applications to fail (e.g. double-click of a .deb inside a .tar.gz in
file-roller, or a downloaded file on Chromium-browser) as the previous
patch did.

Add my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~intuitivenipple/+archive/ppa) and
then update the libglib2.0-0 packages.

sudo apt-get install libglib2.0-0

If you previously used my PPA build you'll need to remove all the
packages it installed and replace them. The version of the current
Ubuntu update is less than the version I used with that package so
you'll need to explicitly specify the version:

sudo apt-get install libglib2.0-0=2.20.1-0ubuntu2.2~tj~ppa1j
libglib2.0-data=2.20.1-0ubuntu2.2~tj~ppa1j

[Bug 443311] Re: display properties notification area icon still fully coloured

2009-10-10 Thread mac_v
Loic Minier , there seems to have been an error in the last update!

The gsd-xrandr icons *alone* must have been changed from symlinks to
files gsd-xrandr.svg

But seems that the gnome-display-properties.svg was changed from a color
version to a greyscale icon.
This will make the greyscale icon be displayed in the menu.
Was this a purposeful change?

Now released gconf and cdbs which versions supposed to fix this bug, but cdbs
 is a build tool.
When does this fix take effect for gedit auto-detecting failure?

A new GNOME point release is due next Monday, during which a lot of
the GNOME packages will be rebuilt, and get this fixed. The remaining
ones which have locale specific defaults shouldn't be many, and we can
easily do no-change uploads to get them rebuilt.

[Bug 447831] [NEW] cannot empty trash

2009-10-10 Thread GenBattle
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 beta. Package version is in the attached debug info.

When i open the trash window (via the gnome-panel applet or the link in
nautilus) the Empty Trash button is greyed out, even though there are
items in the trash.

I should be able to use the Empty Trash button. I got around it by
right clicking the trash applet on gnome panel and clicking Empty
Trash. This seems to be a regression, since this bug has been reported
in the last 2 or 3 versions of Ubuntu.

but it didn't work for me.

sudo -u gdm dbus-launch gconftool-2 --set

[Bug 447848] [NEW] login window does not have input focus

2009-10-10 Thread Tormod Volden
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

This is a usability regression that appeared in the last 1-2 days (and
before the xorg-server update).

At the login window, the mouse pointer is on my name, but I can not just
press Enter and type in my password like before. Now I have to click
once, then I can press Enter.

Expected behaviour: The login list has keyboard focus, so that I can
press Enter (or arrow keys if I do not want the first user) and type
password (and Enter again). I should not need to use the mouse to log
in.

For breathe-icon-theme (that I am using).

I browsed the icons because I had a problem (now solved) and noticed
that there is an icon with a pendrive. Why if i insert a pendrive its
icon is a tablet with a usb symbol, and not that icon? It would be great
if that icon was used, it is very well done!

player). In Totem, the system crashes without an alert message.
I've got ubuntu 9.04 with all updates installed and my graphic card is a ATI HD
2600, working whit the drivers FGLRX for ATI/AMD.

Luck everyone!!

[Bug 447918] [NEW] Nautilus fails copying a folder with a '|' character

2009-10-10 Thread João Neves
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When copying a folder with the '|', nautilus fails to create a new
directory, preventing the copy operation. Renaming to a filename with
'|' will also fail complaining abou an invalid filename.

Found this out because I wanted to copy a podcast names 'Education

[Bug 427462] Re: login screen is showing user below 1000

2009-10-10 Thread James Dupin
I can reproduce this with karmic beta version and I am pretty sure that
you can all reproduce that.

I created users with 500 = UID 1000 and they all appear at login screen.
This behaviour in itself doesn't bother me in fact as if you create a user and
want to force its UID you may want him to appear in the login screen.

I am more annoyed by service accounts created by programs (such as the
vboxadd user uid=999 gid=1(daemon) groups=1(daemon))

[Bug 447923] [NEW] gnome-appearance-properties shows only 3 wallpapers per row

2009-10-10 Thread Miguel Martinez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Probably due to the incorporation of animated backgrounds in gnome 2.28,
the Background tab in gnome-appearance-properties only shows 3
wallpapers per row (used to be 4). However, the window size has not
changed, and with an increase of about 10 pixels of window width, 4
wallpapers per row are recovered. This also means that a lot of space is
not wasted anymore.

An example screenshot of gnome-appearance-properties is shown.

I know this item is of the lowest priority, but it's a shame that after
all the effort put into gnome 2.28 to reduce wasted space we get almost
25% of a window empty.

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51937 here's the upstream bug
report. A summary:

the main point of the GEGL image processing graph is that you can easily
apply the same processing steps to any image. It will essentially be macro
recording, only better, and using a somewhat different approach.

so when GEGL is completely done (staged to be completely integrated by

[Bug 378553] [NEW] ~/.Xmodmap special key bindings aren't working in GNOME

2009-10-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Before Ubuntu Jaunty, due to strange keyboard design, I used custom
keycode bindings for Power, Sleep and Wake buttons to control my media
player. But after upgrade I cannot apply custom ~/.Xmodmap anymore.

I have made some investigation, and I have found, that if I run X server
without Gnome, xev gives correct results. But if GNOME is running, only
bindings for non-special keys are working.

Here is an example:

$ cat ~/.Xmodmap
keycode 124 = XF86AudioPrev
keycode 150 = XF86AudioPlay
keycode 151 = XF86AudioNext
keycode 49 = XF86AudioPrev

The last keycode is added for testing purposes, and, if I press tilde
key, I get the following output from xev:

KeyPress event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x421,
root 0x13c, subw 0x0, time 21799, (463,-217), root:(470,598),
state 0x0, keycode 49 (keysym 0x1008ff16, XF86AudioPrev), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

KeyRelease event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x421,
root 0x13c, subw 0x0, time 217000156, (463,-217), root:(470,598),
state 0x0, keycode 49 (keysym 0x1008ff16, XF86AudioPrev), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

But if I press 'Power' button (keycode 124) I get

FocusOut event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x421,
mode NotifyGrab, detail NotifyAncestor

FocusOut event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x421,
mode NotifyWhileGrabbed, detail NotifyNonlinear

PropertyNotify event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x421,
atom 0x16e (_NET_WM_ICON_GEOMETRY), time 217086342, state PropertyNewValue

and gnome power manager window pops up. That means, that the first line
of ~/.Xmodmap was ignored.

If I run xev in the separate X server without GNOME, I have expected
behavior: XF86AudioPrev keysym is generated.

[Bug 445113] [NEW] If I launch rythmbox after firefox, I have no audio

2009-10-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

If I have Firefox open and I then launch rythmbox, I have no audio and
no indication audio is playing (track progress bar does not move). This
happens with both locally stored MP3s as well as online streams. When I
try to select an online stream, rythmbox shows buffering and even
displays the title/artist info but then seems to stop. If I close down
the browser and then launch rythmbox, it works great. When I later
launch firefox, everything keeps working unless I pause or stop
playback. In that case, I cannot restart and must shut down the browser
again. I don't think I can put all the blame on rythmbox however, as I
have seen similar symptoms with amarok. I have reinstalled both apps, no
change. I seem to have no trouble streaming directly from sites that
support it through the browser. I am running 8.04 on an older Intel

[Bug 447954] [NEW] applications minimized to notification area should maintain the state they had in last session when a new gnome session is started

2009-10-10 Thread Paolo Benvenuto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

It's very annoying that application I usually keep minimized in the
notification area are presented in the work area when the session is
restarted.

Gnome should provide a way to remember the state about minimization in
the notification area, and applications that can be minimized there
should provide an option to start them in the notification area.

And the gnome session should be started letting minimized in the
notification area the applications that were there when the session was
started.

[Bug 362891] Re: Some SIP providers return 403 Forbidden (No RFC 1918 IP allowed)

Hey,

you have to add %limit to account name, not registrar:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=592012
After doing so restart Ekiga (!) and you should be done. At least it worked for
me with 1und1 ;)

[Bug 445563] [NEW] Cannot install ubuntu 9.10 to a flash drive because it powers down on unmount

2009-10-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I started ubuntu beta 9.10 from livecd-flash (converted to a usb stick using
isotostick.sh). I insert a flash drive, it is automounted, and nautilus opens
it. I press the unmount button (eject button on side panel), flash drive is
unmounted, but after that its power is down, and it is no longer present in
/dev/. So, having it unmounted, i cannot use it to install the system onto it.
I instead had to remove the flash drive, plug it back and issue sudo umount
/dev/sdh to have this all work. Not a very nice way for a newbie-friendly
distro IMHO.
Yes, i tried starting installation having the flash drive mounted, and
installer just made unmount itself. But it may be not obvious for another user
that the installer will be smart enough to do this.

[Bug 448009] [NEW] problem after upgrade/update

2009-10-10 Thread Daily Struggle
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

At time of install of beta ubuntu9.10amd64 I ran into an issue when choosing
the install side by side option on the partitioning part of the install what it
does is not create any extra space when plenty is available
500gb drive
33gb used for 9.04
180mb other used
so that leaves a minimum of 450gb that could be used
during install it only gave the partition 2.5gb which left about 80mb after
install
I used gparted to increase the size and it did not work after gparted did not
recognize grub
said unrecognised file system grub restore prompt
no cd in
install cd go to command and try to repair the grub to no avail
says I have no auth on Filesystem
when filesystem load from places if passwords entered then it doesn't work only
if it is left blank does it work
so I restart install and from partition choose manual delete drive and swap and
seems to install correct
start shutdown work but notice that flash does not go full screen after mod
using
 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/Flash
reload to 9.04 to watch movie and seems to work fine
restart load 9.10 and go to UPDATE Manager and get prompted to upgrade so I
follow prompts screenshots enclosed
trys to update kernel to 2.28.12 and has an fsck issue on reload
fsck done fine 0.05% but during restart notice that error still seems active
Also notice that many programs error on termination with prompt to send error
report
even firefox slightly froze during the course of me writing this bug report
I know that this is still beta or alpha but there are a lot of tweaks that I
see need to happen

I do like the newer interface and seems to be fine until the upgrade and the
option on install seems to not create a partition large enough
I have had to load the 2.28.11 in order to run this time but it did start in
the maintainence prompt
also a short list of programs that did not shutdown correctly
Rythbox
Movie Player
Sound Recorder
Firefox

As I am not certain what to file this bug under I put it in undefined but the
whole thing makes The NEW Ubuntu look pretty unstable
and the upgrade was 300+ packages so I wouldn't know where to start

[Bug 443311] Re: display properties notification area icon still fully coloured

2009-10-10 Thread Loïc Minier
So let me summarise how these icons are used and what we expect:
- gnome-display-properties: used in display-properties.desktop for the menu
entry and the gnome-display-properties binary for the notification area,
expected to be colourful when used in application lists,
- display-capplet: no idea where this is used
- gsd-xrandr: used in gnome-settings-daemon's libxrandr.so plugin for the
notification bubble

So the expectations for each icon as I see them:
- gnome-display-properties: colourful when size 48, grey scales when size 48
- display-capplet: no idea
- gsd-xrandr: I'd guess grey scales all the time

What's in lp:humanity right now:
- gnome-display-properties: always a real file, colourful at size 24 and 48,
only in Humanity
- display-capplet: symlink to gnome-display-properties at size 24 and 48, only
in Humanity
- gsd-xrandr: real file at size 22 and 24, and at size 48 in Humanity-Dark,
symlink to display-capplet at size 48 in Humanity, colourful at size 48, grey
scales at size 22 and 24
./Humanity/apps/48/gsd-xrandr.svg

[Bug 443311] Re: display properties notification area icon still fully coloured

2009-10-10 Thread Loïc Minier
Now in humanity-icon-theme 0.4.1ubuntu2:
- gnome-display-properties: same as lp:humanity
- display-capplet: same as lp:humanity
- gsd-xrandr: same as lp:humanity except for ./Humanity/apps/24/gsd-xrandr.svg
which is a real file with grey scales in lp:humanity and a symlink to
display-capplet.svg in the package
