[Bug 447805] [NEW] Misaligned applets in GDM
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm (I don't thinks this is a bug, but I don't know how to fill an Enhancement Request with ubuntu-bug command, sorry.) Language, Keyboard and Session applets are misaligned with the user selection box in GDM login screen. This seems more noticeable in very large screens. [Bug 346964] Re: menu items selected from screen 1 open on screen 0
I've repackaged my previous Jaunty libglibc package to use yakovlev's patch since it seems to perform better than my original upstream- backport patch (which came from grossly refactored code). In particular, yakolev's patch doesn't cause the launching of external applications to fail (e.g. double-click of a .deb inside a .tar.gz in file-roller, or a downloaded file on Chromium-browser) as the previous patch did. Add my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~intuitivenipple/+archive/ppa) and then update the libglib2.0-0 packages. sudo apt-get install libglib2.0-0 If you previously used my PPA build you'll need to remove all the packages it installed and replace them. The version of the current Ubuntu update is less than the version I used with that package so you'll need to explicitly specify the version: sudo apt-get install libglib2.0-0=2.20.1-0ubuntu2.2~tj~ppa1j libglib2.0-data=2.20.1-0ubuntu2.2~tj~ppa1j -- menu items selected from screen 1 open on screen 0 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346964 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 447923] [NEW] gnome-appearance-properties shows only 3 wallpapers per row
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center Probably due to the incorporation of animated backgrounds in gnome 2.28, the Background tab in gnome-appearance-properties only shows 3 wallpapers per row (used to be 4). However, the window size has not changed, and with an increase of about 10 pixels of window width, 4 wallpapers per row are recovered. This also means that a lot of space is not wasted anymore. An example screenshot of gnome-appearance-properties is shown. [Bug 378553] [NEW] ~/.Xmodmap special key bindings aren't working in GNOME
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Before Ubuntu Jaunty, due to strange keyboard design, I used custom keycode bindings for Power, Sleep and Wake buttons to control my media player. But after upgrade I cannot apply custom ~/.Xmodmap anymore. I have made some investigation, and I have found, that if I run X server without Gnome, xev gives correct results. But if GNOME is running, only bindings for non-special keys are working. Here is an example: $ cat ~/.Xmodmap keycode 124 = XF86AudioPrev keycode 150 = XF86AudioPlay keycode 151 = XF86AudioNext keycode 49 = XF86AudioPrev The last keycode is added for testing purposes, and, if I press tilde key, I get the following output from xev: KeyPress event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x421, root 0x13c, subw 0x0, time 21799, (463,-217), root:(470,598), state 0x0, keycode 49 (keysym 0x1008ff16, XF86AudioPrev), same_screen YES, XLookupString gives 0 bytes: XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes: XFilterEvent returns: False KeyRelease event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x421, root 0x13c, subw 0x0, time 217000156, (463,-217), root:(470,598), state 0x0, keycode 49 (keysym 0x1008ff16, XF86AudioPrev), same_screen YES, XLookupString gives 0 bytes: XFilterEvent returns: False But if I press 'Power' button (keycode 124) I get FocusOut event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x421, mode NotifyGrab, detail NotifyAncestor FocusOut event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x421, mode NotifyWhileGrabbed, detail NotifyNonlinear PropertyNotify event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x421, atom 0x16e (_NET_WM_ICON_GEOMETRY), time 217086342, state PropertyNewValue and gnome power manager window pops up. [Bug 445113] [NEW] If I launch rythmbox after firefox, I have no audio
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: rhythmbox If I have Firefox open and I then launch rythmbox, I have no audio and no indication audio is playing (track progress bar does not move). This happens with both locally stored MP3s as well as online streams. When I try to select an online stream, rythmbox shows buffering and even displays the title/artist info but then seems to stop. If I close down the browser and then launch rythmbox, it works great. When I later launch firefox, everything keeps working unless I pause or stop playback. In that case, I cannot restart and must shut down the browser again. I don't think I can put all the blame on rythmbox however, as I have seen similar symptoms with amarok. I press the unmount button (eject button on side panel), flash drive is unmounted, but after that its power is down, and it is no longer present in /dev/. [Bug 448009] [NEW] problem after upgrade/update
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: yelp At time of install of beta ubuntu9.10amd64 I ran into an issue when choosing the install side by side option on the partitioning part of the install what it does is not create any extra space when plenty is available 500gb drive 33gb used for 9.04 180mb other used so that leaves a minimum of 450gb that could be used during install it only gave the partition 2.5gb which left about 80mb after install I used gparted to increase the size and it did not work after gparted did not recognize grub said unrecognised file system grub restore prompt no cd in install cd go to command and try to repair the grub to no avail says I have no auth on Filesystem when filesystem load from places if passwords entered then it doesn't work only if it is left blank does it work so I restart install and from partition choose manual delete drive and swap and seems to install correct start shutdown work but notice that flash does not go full screen after mod using https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/Flash reload to 9.04 to watch movie and seems to work fine restart load 9.10 and go to UPDATE Manager and get prompted to upgrade so I follow prompts screenshots enclosed trys to update kernel to 2.28.12 and has an fsck issue on reload fsck done fine 0.05% but during restart notice that error still seems active Also notice that many programs error on termination with prompt to send error report even firefox slightly froze during the course of me writing this bug report I know that this is still beta or alpha but there are a lot of tweaks that I see need to happen I do like the newer interface and seems to be fine until the upgrade and the option on install seems to not create a partition large enough I have had to load the 2.28.11 in order to run this time but it did start in the maintainence prompt also a short list of programs that did not shutdown correctly Rythbox Movie Player Sound Recorder Firefox As I am not certain what to file this bug under I put it in undefined but the whole thing makes The NEW Ubuntu look pretty unstable and the upgrade was 300+ packages so I wouldn't know where to start ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Sat Oct 10 07:07:32 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/yelp NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: yelp 2.28.0-0ubuntu1 ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-11.36-generic SourcePackage: yelp Uname: Linux 2.6.31-11-generic x86_64 XsessionErrors: (gnome-settings-daemon:1716): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_propagate_error: assertion `src != NULL' failed (gnome-settings-daemon:1716): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_propagate_error: assertion `src != NULL' failed (polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1:1817): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed (nautilus:1811): Eel-CRITICAL **: eel_preferences_get_boolean: assertion `preferences_is_initialized ()' failed ** Affects: yelp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug -- problem after upgrade/update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/448009 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to yelp in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 443311] Re: display properties notification area icon still fully coloured
So let me summarise how these icons are used and what we expect: - gnome-display-properties: used in display-properties.desktop for the menu entry and the gnome-display-properties binary for the notification area, expected to be colourful when used in application lists, - display-capplet: no idea where this is used - gsd-xrandr: used in gnome-settings-daemon's libxrandr.so plugin for the notification bubble So the expectations for each icon as I see them: - gnome-display-properties: colourful when size 48, grey scales when size 48 - display-capplet: no idea - gsd-xrandr: I'd guess grey scales all the time What's in lp:humanity right now: - gnome-display-properties: always a real file, colourful at size 24 and 48, only in Humanity - display-capplet: symlink to gnome-display-properties at size 24 and 48, only in Humanity - gsd-xrandr: real file at size 22 and 24, and at size 48 in Humanity-Dark, symlink to display-capplet at size 48 in Humanity, colourful at size 48, grey scales at size 22 and 24 ./Humanity/apps/48/gsd-xrandr.svg -- display properties notification area icon still fully coloured https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/443311 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 443311] Re: display properties notification area icon still fully coloured
Now in humanity-icon-theme 0.4.1ubuntu2: - gnome-display-properties: same as lp:humanity - display-capplet: same as lp:humanity - gsd-xrandr: same as lp:humanity except for ./Humanity/apps/24/gsd-xrandr.svg which is a real file with grey scales in lp:humanity and a symlink to display-capplet.svg in the package -- display properties notification area icon still fully coloured https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/443311 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
