[Bug 448492] [NEW] Media player device error: LIBMTP_Send_Representative_Sample():...

2009-10-11 Thread Brews
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

This is on Karmic Beta (amd64) using Rhythmbox 0.12.5:
When I transfer audio over to my MTP device (A Samsung YP-U3), with every track
I transfer, an error window pops up and announces: Media player device error:
LIBMTP_Send_Representative_Sample(): object type doesn't support
RepresentativeSampleData.
This pops up for every track I had transferred (so it gets to be troublesome
when I move hundreds of songs, because then I need to wait and click Close
hundreds of times).
Interestingly, everything seems to play perfectly fine in the MTP device.

[Bug 448515] [NEW] display shutoff not being triggered

2009-10-11 Thread Klaus Doblmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I'm running Karmic with the latest updates and have been seing this bug
for over a week now (since the display-shutoff-bug in xorg was fixed but
that's most likely unrelated).

I have set my power preferences to shut off the display after five
minutes. If I boot up my computer the shutoff is not being triggered,
the display stays on forever. Also when I lock my screen the display
only goes black but the backlight is still on. What makes the shutoff
work is to simply open and close the powermanager program in system -
settings (I don't need to actually change any settings, I just open it
and close it again after it's loaded). After that display shutoff works
as expected - until I reboot.

[Bug 442885] Re: epiphany-extensions doesn't install with epihany-gecko

2009-10-11 Thread Florian Diesch
Since epiphany-browser 2.28.0-4ubuntu1 epiphany-gecko doesn't exist in

there's only the webkit version now.

I'm going to mark this bug as Fix Released. If you think that there
should be a Gecko version of Epiphany please report a new bug.

[Bug 187127] Re: ssh always asks to unlock private key with no password set

2009-10-11 Thread Matiss Piesins
How I got rid of this bug and what it indicates:

Important context:
intrepid, autologin by gdm, WPA key stored by nm in a password-less (unsecure
plaintext) default.keyring, which also is the default gnome keyring.

Now, trying to use sshfs with a key authentification, this dialog pups
up and I can continue by either entering my local user password or
pressing Deny. This is due to a keyring called login.keyring, which
has somehow gotten created. Once it is either unlocked with my password
or denied, ssh connection works since I had a key file in the first
place.

IIRC, login.keyring is the former default keyring and got changed to
default.keyring, but, supposedly, some ssh related part of gnome-keyring
still has it hardcoded.

The workaround is - delete the login.keyring, restart session by means
of autologin (not entering a password), try connecting (using sshfs with
rsa keys), now a window appears asking for a password to create a new
login.keyring. Just press enter, it warns about unsafe storage, accept
it. Connection gets established and the popup is gone.

What has changed is that the login.keyring is now a plaintext file and
contains a string with my public key, same as the wireless WPA key in
the default.keyring. Thus, this bug (or feature?) may depend on
autologin and/or changed passwords.

Hopefully this helps,
Kind regards,
Matiss

[Bug 448564] [NEW] Junk item not removed from inbox

2009-10-11 Thread Tim Stubberfield
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

If I mark several items in my inbox as junk, all but the last item are
moved automatically to the junk folder. The last item remains in the
inbox and if I try to mark it as junk again evolution claims it is
already marked.

However, if I then switch to the junk folder, the item is there and
switching back to the inbox it will now be gone so I suspect the problem
is just in the updating of the inbox display.

If I only mark one item as junk it is handled properly.

[Bug 334125] Re: Search not showing hidden files

2009-10-11 Thread mrklister
This is a really annoying bug, don't really understand why it has not
been fixed yet.

Are most of the nautilus users beginners and don't care about hidden files?
Or are they experts that rather use the terminal?

This is to me a big usability issue and it does not sound to hard to fix
(correct me if I'm wrong). People that comes from windows will most certainly
get pissed when they don't understand why they don't find their files. They may
even think that the search engine does not work properly in nautilus.
Therefore it should have a high priority.

[Bug 448640] [NEW] Unwanted private key revocation

2009-10-11 Thread Michael Düll
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: seahorse

When double-clicking on a revocation certificate of a private key (saved to
disk in case the private key is not save anymore / one forgets the key's
password), seahorse will automatically revoke that private key without first
asking: Are you sure.
I today accidentially revoked my main PGP key that way. This should not happen.
Seahorse should as first!

Steps to reproduce:

1) Create a new gpg key. (Lets say it's AABBCCDD)
2) gpg --gen-revoke AABBCCDD
3) copy the revocation certificate to a text file (revk_cert_AABBCCDD.txt) so
that it looks like:

-BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-
Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux)
Comment: A revocation certificate should follow

foObArfOofoObArfOofoObArfOofoObArfOofoObArfOofoObArfOofoObArfOofoObArfOofoObArfOo
foObArfOofoObArfOofoObArfOofoObArfOofoObArfOofoObArfOo/d
=FooBa
-END PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-

4) Have seahorse-plugins installed
5) Accidentially double-click on revk_cert_AABBCCDD.txt
6) Your key is gone!

This should not happen. Between 5) and 6) there should be a confirmation
dialog.

[Bug 444421] Re: Login button is different than the Cancel button in the GDM theme

2009-10-11 Thread Mat Tomaszewski
This is a really weird bug, looks like the size of the Login button is
defined independently of other buttons. The problem does not seem to
occur anywhere else.

Does anyone have any ideas?

** Changed in: human-theme (Ubuntu)
Assignee: (unassigned) = Kenneth Wimer (kwwii)

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: human-theme

- The login button is visibly smaller than the cancel button. It also
- has a glow around it, while the cancel button doesn't.
+ The login button is visibly smaller than the cancel button on the

- buttons should also have a slight gradient texture.

[Bug 448651] [NEW] Cannot lock screen when auto login is enable

2009-10-11 Thread lucky
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I'm not sure whether gdm is the culprit, but it is really likely.

If I enable auto login through the system-administration-login screen or by
enabling it at installation time, I cannot lock my screen.
Even though those features are related, there should not be any dependencies
between them.

It is required to be able to lock a screen for instance during a break,
even though we auto-login.

The bug is reproducible any time by just ticking-unticking the auto
login feature in the appropriate menu.

At the moment the workaround is to enable a 1 second delay before auto-login to
allow other users to login in gdm.
Doing so enables the lock screen option.

[Bug 214370] Re: Logout/Shutdown Sound Not Working

2009-10-11 Thread Claudio Viano
Proposals of just removing the logout sound pop up regularly here and
there, but the point is that any other OS out there has a working logout
sound, and you don't need to look too far either: KDE has it. Also to
see how popular this feature is just check how many how-to one can find,
with a quick search, to hack it into gnome with some work-around
solution.

I doubt this is bug

such behaviour is caused by the same class name on your python modules
class ColumnExtension(nautilus.ColumnProvider, nautilus.InfoProvider)

the author should give different class names on each module and the
defect will not happen

[Bug 448695] [NEW] Login screen loses theme settings

2009-10-11 Thread Zash
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Steps to reproduce (I think):

1. Boot and login
2. Log out
3. Open the accessibility dialog by clicking the relevant icon in the lower
right corner.
4. Click the first option (something about better contrast).
5. Click it again

Expected result:
Theme is reverted to previous (HumanLogin)

Actual result:
Theme is set to whatever was used by your session. Further toggling of the
checkbox just toggles between this and the accessibility theme.

Maybe relevant:
I have uninstalled the accessibility themes.

2009-10-11 Thread Pi Boy
Karmic beta livecd properly blanks the display, both i386 and amd64.
The livecd is using the same version of gnome-power-manager, so either
the problem is with another package, or there is a problem with my
system. I have been updating this system since alpha1, and package
managers can make mistakes. . .

[Bug 419143] Re: Printing from evince (and perhaps other GTK apps) to PostScript printers is broken

2009-10-11 Thread Pascal Grossé
Hi,

I have a similar issue with my Brother HL2070N (which is not a
postscript printer I think).

When printing from evince, it fails silently. When printing the same
file.ps from gv, it works perfectly. So, I would say it is not a config
problem, and probably not a cups bug.

Note that the test page is correctly printed from system-config-printer.

[Bug 448710] [NEW] Rhythmbox can't be shut down via close box

2009-10-11 Thread mike2357
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

When I close Rhythmbox 0.12.5 (Ubuntu 9.10 beta) via its menus (Music -
Quit), it closes and terminates. However, when I use the close box in
the Rhythmbox window, it simulates Music - Close, i.e. the process does
not terminate, and the notification icon stays active. In prior Ubuntu
versions, the close box resulted in a true quit. Most other
applications work the same way, i.e. selecting the close box terminates
the application.

[Bug 448719] [NEW] cannot switch users - using dual screens

2009-10-11 Thread Agent N2O
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

This is a fresh 9.10 install on a new system. The graphics system is an
ATI Radeon HD 4890 running the FGLRX drivers and two screens (one in
portrait, one in landscape). All updates have been applied but the
problem has persisted since initial install.

Issue is that when I attempt to switch users, the screens go black, the
left screen goes solid white and the right screen comes back up with my
