[Bug 448492] [NEW] Media player device error: LIBMTP_Send_Representative_Sample():...
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox This is on Karmic Beta (amd64) using Rhythmbox 0.12.5: When I transfer audio over to my MTP device (A Samsung YP-U3), with every track I transfer, an error window pops up and announces: Media player device error: LIBMTP_Send_Representative_Sample(): object type doesn't support RepresentativeSampleData. This pops up for every track I had transferred (so it gets to be troublesome when I move hundreds of songs, because then I need to wait and click Close hundreds of times). [Bug 448515] [NEW] display shutoff not being triggered
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager I'm running Karmic with the latest updates and have been seing this bug for over a week now (since the display-shutoff-bug in xorg was fixed but that's most likely unrelated). I have set my power preferences to shut off the display after five minutes. If I boot up my computer the shutoff is not being triggered, the display stays on forever. Also when I lock my screen the display only goes black but the backlight is still on. What makes the shutoff work is to simply open and close the powermanager program in system - settings (I don't need to actually change any settings, I just open it and close it again after it's loaded). After that display shutoff works as expected - until I reboot. [Bug 187127] Re: ssh always asks to unlock private key with no password set
How I got rid of this bug and what it indicates: Important context: intrepid, autologin by gdm, WPA key stored by nm in a password-less (unsecure plaintext) default.keyring, which also is the default gnome keyring. Now, trying to use sshfs with a key authentification, this dialog pups up and I can continue by either entering my local user password or pressing Deny. This is due to a keyring called login.keyring, which has somehow gotten created. Once it is either unlocked with my password or denied, ssh connection works since I had a key file in the first place. IIRC, login.keyring is the former default keyring and got changed to default.keyring, but, supposedly, some ssh related part of gnome-keyring still has it hardcoded. The workaround is - delete the login.keyring, restart session by means of autologin (not entering a password), try connecting (using sshfs with rsa keys), now a window appears asking for a password to create a new login.keyring. Just press enter, it warns about unsafe storage, accept it. Connection gets established and the popup is gone. What has changed is that the login.keyring is now a plaintext file and contains a string with my public key, same as the wireless WPA key in the default.keyring. Thus, this bug (or feature?) may depend on autologin and/or changed passwords. Hopefully this helps, Kind regards, Matiss -- ssh always asks to unlock private key with no password set https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187127 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution If I mark several items in my inbox as junk, all but the last item are moved automatically to the junk folder. The last item remains in the inbox and if I try to mark it as junk again evolution claims it is already marked. However, if I then switch to the junk folder, the item is there and switching back to the inbox it will now be gone so I suspect the problem is just in the updating of the inbox display. If I only mark one item as junk it is handled properly. [Bug 334125] Re: Search not showing hidden files
This is a really annoying bug, don't really understand why it has not been fixed yet. Are most of the nautilus users beginners and don't care about hidden files? People that comes from windows will most certainly get pissed when they don't understand why they don't find their files. [Bug 448651] [NEW] Cannot lock screen when auto login is enable
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm I'm not sure whether gdm is the culprit, but it is really likely. If I enable auto login through the system-administration-login screen or by enabling it at installation time, I cannot lock my screen. Even though those features are related, there should not be any dependencies between them. It is required to be able to lock a screen for instance during a break, even though we auto-login. The bug is reproducible any time by just ticking-unticking the auto login feature in the appropriate menu. At the moment the workaround is to enable a 1 second delay before auto-login to allow other users to login in gdm. Doing so enables the lock screen option. [Bug 426256] Re: Notification: no display of no-square covers
I don't think this should be a Rhythmbox bug. It's more of a notify-osd bug. Notify OSD should be scaling it automatically and displaying it. See bug #443979. -- Notification: no display of no-square covers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/426256 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 448719] [NEW] cannot switch users - using dual screens
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm This is a fresh 9.10 install on a new system. The graphics system is an ATI Radeon HD 4890 running the FGLRX drivers and two screens (one in portrait, one in landscape). All updates have been applied but the problem has persisted since initial install. Issue is that when I attempt to switch users, the screens go black, the left screen goes solid white and the right screen comes back up with my same account asking for a password. The buttons are all non-functioning (send message, switch user, cancel, unlock) and all I can do is enter my password to return back to my account.
