[Bug 135548] Re: Action on critical battery isn't triggered
In Karmic we changed from hal to devicekit-power. Nobody confirmed that this bug still happens in Karmic, after the call for testing below. I just tested it myself on my Dell Latitude D430, and I get all the low/critical/suspending now notifications, and the computer suspends when the battery reaches 1.5% charge (it falls back to percentage because it can't estimate the remaining time below 5% any more). I believe g-p-m's policy is correct now. Remaining problems could be that the battery remaining time/percentage is misdetected. This is a hardware specific problem then, and should be reporteded individually against devicekit-power. Closing now for Karmic (hardy/jaunty are still open, since confirmed several times). Please yell if it still does not work for you in Karmic. ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu Karmic) Status: Triaged = Fix Released ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu Jaunty) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu Hardy) Status: New = Confirmed -- Action on critical battery isn't triggered https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/135548 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 450181] [NEW] Nautilus Sync daemon for network laptops by network connections.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I have a network consisting of desktop computers and laptops. Laptops are not always online or they are used by the other users on the go. In most networks every user in the network is allowed to store data in separate network folders on every existing laptop (peer-to-peer- network). If the laptops are online user A can regularly store data on user's B laptop by drag-and-drop a file in nautilus. If user's B laptop is disconnected to the network user A gets now the useless message: „network connection can't be setup. Mounting impossible“ (or something like that). Consequently user A has to check over and over again when user's B laptop is online and has then to repeat after positive feedback the drag-and-drap file transfer. That is inconvenient and wastes lots of working time. Because of that mess, Ubuntu should have a sync daemon in nautilus, too, comparable to the sync daemon for the Ubuntu cloud. Every time user A starts to copy a file to user's B laptop and when this laptop is offline, nautilus should offer: „Network folder is unavailable. Synchronization will start immediately after network folder's reconnection to the network.“ [Yes] – [No] A successful date transfer with the daemon should be reported by the Ubuntu indicator system: Data transfer of file ... to network folder ... is now completed. Re: [Bug 431176] Re: karmic: gdm should not start in single user (recovery) mode
Beni Cherniavsky [2009-10-08 11:42 -]: It used to be, until recently (karmic bleeding edge), that I could boot the recovery option, do my stuff in single-user mode, and proceed to a graphical boot. But now, not only GDM doesn't run by itself, running it manually appears to have no effect! I'm forced to reboot in normal mode to get GDM. telinit 2 to change the runlevel doesn't work? And it's not clear that single-user recovery mode is a 1:1 indication that a text-only mode is desired. It traditionally behaved that way, and changes to this are way outside of the scope of this bug report IMHO. [Bug 325973] Re: gnome-session keeps respawning nautilus when no desktop is drawed
I turn off desktop because... * I practically only use nautilus to copy music files to my mp3 player. * I'd like to have my home directory (not Desktop) as Desktop directory in nautilus, and I have to many files to fit on the screen. * I don't do file handling in my home directory all that much, so why should I have a constantly open file manager that's not even full featured? * It's easy to accidentally do bad stuff with your files. * I prefer to use the places menu with bookmarks * The applications I use have smarter ways to navigate to files relevant to the task. For example, Ryhtmbox lets you search thousands of music files. Eclipse lets you find any file in the current project by pressing a shortcut and type part of the filename. * Icons on my pretty background image looks ugly. -- gnome-session keeps respawning nautilus when no desktop is drawed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/325973 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 450141] Re: When writing a message, if selection doesn't contain beginning of the line, it's impossible to copy it using right click-copy because selection is lost
There is no ubuntu change which should create any such issue and the bug doesn't happen there. Do you have the bug in using a stock configuration? [Bug 390816] Re: external monitor output is switched off when closing the laptop-lid when gnome-power-manager is set to blank screen on closing
This has not been a problem with my Dell XPS 1330 laptop with Janty or Karmic , until the latest round of fixes this monrning. It is 100% reproducible. If you shut the lid on the laptop , it now blanks the external monitor screen. As I wish to use my laptop in the office this is a massive problem as I'm having to prop the lid open to stop it powering off the external monitor. This is definitely a regression, as I have been using this features for many months. It may also be connected to another bug that has been reported about the lack of ability to set the external monitor and laptop monitor to have seperate screen resolutions. [Bug 261084] Re: Suspends again right after resume
Thanks Martin, I will create debugging logs then (may take a day till I get to it). Apart from that I've noticed that /etc/default/acpi-support has the line SUSPEND_METHODS='dbus-pm dbus-hal pm-utils'. I removed the 'dbus-hal' part. Also, there's the ENABLE_LAPTOP_MODE=false line, but the comment above states the Ubuntu's default is 'true'. I had set this to 'true' previously, but reverted back to 'false'. After I made these two changes I haven't seen any spurious suspends triggered by FN+F4 (sleep key). Hope this is helpful.
