[Bug 451004] [NEW] Evolution CSV Contact Import Buggy
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I exported contacts from gmail into csv and then imported them in Evolution. Evolution imported all the email addresses into the field Mailing Address instead of importing them to the email address field. [Bug 450731] [NEW] Cannot start gdm after upgrade from Jaunty
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Did an upgrade from Jaunty to Karmic and the process appeared to work. My Jaunty install was using restricted Nvidia drivers installed via Restricted Drivers tool, rather then Envy. On reboot, the white Ubuntu logo is present but then the screen goes black and there is a lot of HDD activity (I can tell from the LED that it's a repetitive thing, rather than something like fsck running). If I ctrl-alt-f1 the banner is very flickery and the keyboard is mostly unresponsive. I can restart in recovery mode and delete xorg.conf at which point the machine boots properly and GDM appears. Once I'm logged in I'm unable to get the restricted Nvidia drivers working (any attempts cause the same problem) on reboot. Re: [Bug 439390] Re: Evolution crashes when I make a task over several days
Hello, I've looking for the crash directory and there is no crash report. bm Le jeudi 01 octobre 2009 à 18:53 +, Pedro Villavicencio a écrit : Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- Evolution crashes when I make a task over several days https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439390 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 419143] Re: Printing from evince (and perhaps other GTK apps) to PostScript printers is broken
The problem is not the fact whether evince produces PostScript or PDF output when sending a print job to CUPS but the PDF which gets sent to CUPS. This is not necessarily produced by evince, but rather by some library like GTK or Cairo. So a real fix has to be done in the appropriate library. Another, but only partial fix would be to make evince simply passing through the input file if it is PDF. This does not cover the case of evince be used to display a non-PDF file (PostScript could also be passed through). Making evince outputting PostScript again is only a workaround for the time being until PDF generation gets fixed. In addition, this causes other problems which we solved by switching over to PDF output. If we do this step, it only should be done in the Ubuntu package, not upstream. Also any attempt to solve the problem by modifying the CUPS filters is only a workaround, as CUPS prints all PDF files from other sources than evince just fine. -- Printing from evince (and perhaps other GTK apps) to PostScript printers is broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/419143 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 450832] [NEW] X logout while playing aisleriot
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: gnome-games Unfortunately I don't have a good characterization for this bug, and I'm not sure how to go about getting one. Several times, while playing a game in aisleriot, my X session has been suddenly logged out for no obvious reason. It's possible this is due to some other bug that has coincidentally gone off while using aisleriot, but it's happened enough times that it seems like it must be aiselriot that is the trigger. [Bug 451086] [NEW] Rhythmbox Notification Bubble shows wrong cover art
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox When switching between songs while the main window is invisible notification bubble pop up to show me what the current song is. Unfortunately the notification bubble sometimes shows the wrong cover art. It seems to me that the main (only?) problem is when switching from a song with cover art to another song that has no cover art. In that case all the information from the new song is displayed, but the cover art of the old song is still displayed (which is obviously no longer applicable). [Bug 443026] Re: Printing produces broken PDF
Here I can only say the same as I already said in bug 419143: The problem is not the fact whether evince produces PostScript or PDF output when sending a print job to CUPS but the PDF which gets sent to CUPS. -- Printing produces broken PDF https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/443026 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 443026] Re: Printing produces broken PDF
** Description changed: Binary package hint: cups Lots of embedded graphics are now not printed in printed PDF documents, they just appear as a white space on paper. This never happened for me in Jaunty, so this looks like a regression in one of the PDF filters? I attach an example document which reproduces the issue. The graphics below Skizze is not printed at all, if you open the document in evince and just print it. However, if I do pdf2ps Aufgabe01.pdf and open/print Aufgabe01.ps with evince, it works. Unfortunately, trying to convert it back with pstopdf, the resulting PDF doesn't print at all and just causes the print job to stay in the queue forever. [Bug 451086] Re: Rhythmbox Notification Bubble shows wrong cover art
In that case rhythmbox should update the bubble correctly. Examples for doing this can be found in notify-osd trunk (lp:notify-osd) in ./notify- osd/examples/update-notifications.py. There's also an ANSI C example, but that's not up to date at the moment. This is solely an issue of rhythmbox and none of notify-osd, therefore I'm reassigning this to rhythmbox. ** Changed in: notify-osd (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- Rhythmbox Notification Bubble shows wrong cover art https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451086 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 451086] Re: Rhythmbox Notification Bubble shows wrong cover art
Here's how rhythmbox should go about this case when second song lacks cover-art (pseudo-code): // create a new bubble for first song image_file = get_cover_art_image (song_one); if (image_file) n = notification_new (Song one, Artist one, Album one, image_file); else n = notification_new (Song one, Artist one, Album one, ); // note the space between the last double-quote pair notification_show (n); // update current bubble image_file = get_cover_art_image (song_two); if (image_file) notification_update (n, Song two, Artist two, Album two, image_file); else notification_update (n, Song two, Artist two, Album two, ); // note the space between the last double-quote pair notification_show (n); According to you example-case the first song will have a cover-image, thus the if-branch will be executed (resulting in an icon-summary-body layout case). For the second song the else-branch will be executed, because it lacks a cover-image. Then the filename will be a simple single space (and result in a summary-body layout case). This is needed for notify-osd to be able to determine the bubble-layout and distinguish update- from append-cases. -- Rhythmbox Notification Bubble shows wrong cover art https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451086 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Glad to hear from you Chris! As I said, fixing time zone and SMB can be done with the same patch, which would replace 01_debian_4.0.patch. The patch is at http://cgit.freedesktop.org/system-tools- backends/patch/?id=e2f49be92354f29aee35d265f02e0743d164c6a5 The other major bug that would have been fixed by 2.8.2 is getting back services-admin. That seems complex to do as an SRU, because that would affect the gnome-system-tools as well. I think that's worth the pain, though.
