[Bug 425411] Re: Computer suspends immediately after resuming if power is unplugged while suspended
Confirmed on Asus Eeepc 1000h. If the power cable is unplugged during a suspended state, the system will go right back to suspend after login. Basically. 1. plug system into ac power 2. close lid to suspend 3. disconnect power cord. 4. open lid to wake up. 5. system will wake up, ask for log in, and as soon as it is logged in, suspend again. I've narrowed it down a bit further. [Bug 454420] Re: karmic gdmsetup removes useful options which existed in jaunty
The comment is still not really constructive. The gdm code has been rewritten and the new codebase doesn't have all the options which the old one had so it's not only a matter of having a configuration gui but also to bring those options there. Upstream doesn't have any configuration tool in the new version so one has been added in ubuntu for the most used option. The possibility to configure themes could be added back too next cycle but the ubuntu team doesn't have the manpower to work on adding back all the options which were in the previous codebase especially the ones not judged useful for most users, that's why specific issues need to be described so the team can decide on what to work next there -- karmic gdmsetup removes useful options which existed in jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/454420 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 455328] [NEW] Browser based radio feed does not work after installing moonlight application.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem I am using Ubuntu 9.04. I was listening to a browser based radio station, WAZY-FM at wazy.com, which has a browser-based radio feed from Mainstream radio. The system was working fine, as I could hear the music, station, etc. I went to another radio station WKGL-FM, www.967theeagle.net, which required an installation of silverlight from Microsoft. My synaptic update manager installed a plug-in for Moonlight. After installing the Moonlight plug-in, the streaming function does not work anymore. I believe there is music streaming into my computer, but I have no sound. I think your community does a fantastic job with the software, and I truly appreciate your talents and your dedication to the project. I am looking forward to using Ubuntu 9.10. I can reproduce this bug. Tested on NVidias (but probably this does NOT matter!) on ubuntu 9.04 amd64 (and possibly I seen it also on 8.10, not sure). This happens when: you switch into middle of fading-out (blackout) animation of screensaver (in example from other VT). 1. Log in as 2nd desktop user 2. Go back to vt-1 (ctrl-alt-f7) 3. Wait the proper amount of time 4. Go to vt-2 (ctrl-alt-f9 or f8) 5. If you are lucky then you now see part of the already running black out animation, and then this VT if broken - you can not pop up the unlock dialog If you kill that screensaver (or restar that X) then it works normally. ** Changed in: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- [hardy] screensaver fails to start and screen fails to completely black out https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/229144 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 453748] Re: sets wrong brightness value with xrandr
The behavior has changed: Pressing fn-brightness-up/down while gnome-power-manager is running still causes actual_brightness to jump up/down two levels on each keypress, but it now represents the correct brightness (i.e. my display backlight really increases or decreases its brightness by two levels). I believe that the keypress is both handled by my laptop directly and by gnome-power-manager. BIOS (or hardware directly, however this is actually implemented) reacts to fn-brightness-up by increasing the brightness one level. g-p-m also reacts to the keypress by increasing the brightness by one level. This causes the backlight to actually increase its brightness twice on a single keypress. lshal reports for my backlight: udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer_backlight' info.addons = {'hald-addon-generic-backlight'} (string list) info.capabilities = {'laptop_panel'} (string list) info.category = 'laptop_panel' (string) info.interfaces = {'org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.LaptopPanel'} (string list) info.parent = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer' (string) info.product = 'Generic Backlight Device' (string) info.subsystem = 'backlight' (string) info.udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer_backlight' (string) laptop_panel.access_method = 'general' (string) laptop_panel.brightness_in_hardware = false (bool) laptop_panel.num_levels = 16 (0x10) (int) linux.hotplug_type = 2 (0x2) (int) linux.subsystem = 'backlight' (string) linux.sysfs_path = '/sys/devices/virtual/backlight/acpi_video0' (string) laptop_panel.brightness_in_hardware being set to false is wrong, my laptop supports that. ** Attachment added: lshal.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/33942421/lshal.txt ** Package changed: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) = hal-info (Ubuntu) -- sets wrong brightness value with xrandr https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/453748 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 451613] Re: all disks and partitions are automounted in the live session
Ah, I figured out why it only happens sometimes. gdu monitor's update_volume() sets automount flag to TRUE in general. However, it is set to FALSE if the media detection time is older than the new volume detection by 5 seconds or more. Thus if dk-disks was already running, starting gvfs will usually set automount to FALSE since the difference will be more than 5 seconds. The rationale is: /* If a volume (partition) appear _much later_ than when media was insertion it * can only be because the media was repartitioned. We don't want to automount * such volumes. */ But if gvfs-gdu-volume-monitor triggers dk-disks startup, the last media detection time will be almost equal to new volume, and automount will be TRUE. I think we should generally disable automounting for system internal drives. -- all disks and partitions are automounted in the live session https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451613 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
