[Bug 390001] Re: Gnome visual effects not retained after reboot

2009-11-15 Thread Russel Winder
I just reported Bug 482539 but it has been marked as a duplicate of this
bug.

I am not sure that it is but . . .

I had Jaunty installed and decided to switch from No visual effects
(Metacity) to Normal visual effects (Compiz) after this change
Metacity never worked again despite being installed and my chopice of
Normal visual effects was not remembered. Thus whenever I log out and
login my session starts with no windows manager. So it appears similar
to this bug reports except that it is a per session not a per boot issue
as the title suggests. Moreover this bug is reported as fixed by
switching to Karmic. I have just upgraded from Jaunty to Karmic and I
still have the I don't get a window manager on login problem.

I have no idea what communication failure there is between Gnome,
Metacity, Compiz, etc. but it has clearly broken down in a big way.

I should also point out Bug 482538: The Compiz settings that I set up
are forgotten across logins as well. All this seems to lead towards a
break down of user specified state logging during a session.

After upgrading to 9.10, the top and bottom panels work. But the desktop in

Re: [Bug 429322] Re: [Bug 466773] Re: LMMS .4.5

2009-11-15 Thread Paco Soberón
No, the solution is not to unsubscribe from Bug #429322. Probably, you
are not even subscribed to that bug. If you are receiving all these
e-mail notifications, it's because you are subscribed to *another* bug.
To one that is a duplicate of Bug #429322.

Which bug is that? Well, the one (or ones) that you reported yourself.
How to unsubscribe, then?

1.- Go to the web:
https://launchpad.net/

2.- If you're not logged in, use the link on the upper right corner to
log in.

3.- Click your own user name in the upper right corner to go your
personal Launchpad page.

4.- In the column titled Participation (on the right) click on Bugs.

5.- Click on Advanced Search under the search textbox. Scroll down and
unmark the option Hide duplicate bugs. Then click Search.

6.- Look for the bug(s) you reported yourself. If you didn't change the
summary while reporting, it should say seahorse-agent But it may
be different. In any case, it shouldn't be very difficult to find.
(Hint: look for the bugs with the greater bug number.)

7.- Click on the bug to open it, then click Unsubscribe on the right
column.

Regards.

I'd be OK with this behavior if there was at least a way to open the new

Also the blinking icon is hideous by the way.

To one that is a duplicate of Bug #429322.

Which bug is that? Well, the one (or ones) that you reported yourself.
 How to unsubscribe, then?

 1.- Go to the web:

2.- If you're not logged in, use the link on the upper right corner to
 log in.

3.- Click your own user name in the upper right corner to go your

4.- In the column titled Participation (on the right) click on Bugs.

5.- Click on Advanced Search under the search textbox. Scroll down and
unmark the option Hide duplicate bugs. Then click Search.

6.- Look for the bug(s) you reported yourself. If you didn't change the
summary while reporting, it should say seahorse-agent But it may
be different. In any case, it shouldn't be very difficult to find.

7.- Click on the bug to open it, then click Unsubscribe on the right

2009-11-15 Thread Paco Soberón
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 429322 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/429322

If you keep receiving mails, then you are subscribed to at least one
bug. It may be difficult to find out which one it is...

People usually try to unsubscribe from bug #429322, because it is the
reference bug mentioned in all the mails received. But that's not the
right solution. You are probably not even subscribed to that bug.

99% of the times, the bug you are subscribed to is the bug that you
reported yourself (or bugs, if you reported the error more than once).
How to find it? Well, you will have to go to your personal Launchpad
page, get into the Bugs section and search for it. Remember to unmark
the Hide duplicate options. You have the detailed instructions in my
previous message:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/seahorse-
plugins/+bug/465391/comments/21

This has worked for everyone, so it will work for you too. Do not
hesitate to ask for help if you can't find the bug you are subscribed to.

Sorry! I have a problem to unsubscribe

   Timeout error

Our edge server has a lower timeout threshold than launchpad.net, so
we can catch those before they hit a wider audience. As a member of
the Launchpad Beta Testers team, you're more likely to experience
them. If this is blocking your work, you can disable redirection.

 Disable redirection for 2 hours

Sorry, something just went wrong in Launchpad.

We’ve recorded what happened, and we’ll fix it as soon as possible.
 Apologies for the inconvenience.

Trying again in a couple of minutes might work.

[Bug 482670] Re: Feature request: single-line scrolling

2009-11-15 Thread gromituk
Thanks! In that case the manual just needs updating:

http://library.gnome.org/users/gnome-terminal/stable/gnome-terminal-
usage.html.en_GB#gnome-terminal-contents:

To scroll through previous commands and output:

Perform one of the following actions:

* Use the scrollbar, which is usually displayed on the right of the
terminal window.
* Press the Shift+Page Up, Shift+Page Down, Shift+Home, or Shift+End
keys.

The number of lines that you can scroll back to in the terminal
window is determined by the Scrollback setting in the Scrolling tabbed
section of the Editing Profile dialogue.

[Bug 194904] Re: Text editor default save directory

2009-11-15 Thread Martin Mai
Last upstream comment:

Gedit remembers the last folder where a document was saved, so I think this
cannot be applied right now. Open the bug again if you think that the current
behavior is not the one expected.

This is why they marked it as won't fix. Only one way is possible, to the
problem is now to decide which should have the higher priority: Last directory
or the Documents directory. Any ideas?

[Bug 401411] Re: Places-Home Folder opens F-spot

2009-11-15 Thread jim brown
Hi when I decieded to report this 'problem' - this bug seemed the most
appropriate place

When I try to open Places - Home nautilus doesn't start instead Thunar
starts. I have upgraded to 9.10; The home folder has been around since
8.04 (maybe earlier)

j...@brownie-safe-config:~$ nautilus -c
(nautilus:5967): Eel-CRITICAL **: eel_preferences_get_boolean: assertion
`preferences_is_initialized ()' failed
running nautilus_self_check_file_utilities
running nautilus_self_check_file_operations
running nautilus_self_check_directory
running nautilus_self_check_file
running nautilus_self_check_icon_container
running nautilus_self_check_file_utilities
running nautilus_self_check_file_operations
running nautilus_self_check_directory
running nautilus_self_check_file
running nautilus_self_check_icon_container

I've tried the following the help suggested @
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+question/49943
with no luck.

When I run nautilus from the terminal I get a Eel-CRITICAL error (no
idea what it means) it suggested to me that the problem is a bug of some
sort - probably with some config in my home folder as my wifes user
account is working fine

Going to convert this back to a bug for now appologies is this isn't
correct
