[Bug 501045] Re: Will not resume from suspend

2009-12-29 Thread Yosef Karo
Thank you for reporting this. Please answer a few questions and provide
more information.

Does this occur every time that you try to resume or just once in awhile?
Did this used to work before? If so, in which kernel release did it used to
work?
While trying to resume, does caps lock flash or anything similar to this?

Please pastebin the output of the following:

dmesg
cat /proc/cmdline
cat /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume

and include the links in your response.

-Yos

2009-12-29 Thread Zsolt Peter Basak
+1 for this bug. Its REALLY annoying and it should be fixed ASAP. Don't
know what those Gnome/GTK devs thinking but they're really going crazy
nowadays. Beats me whats with them.. (Soon we'll have everything hard
coded like ... on that OS. The freedom of choice huh?)

[Bug 501071] Re: Rhythmbox fills metadatas without asking

2009-12-29 Thread Kensum T.
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox puts an unknow in every gap of the Metadata/ID3-Tag that is
supposed to be empty, if you import your musics to rhythmbox in example.
And if you change some gaps in this Metadata/ID3-Tag to repair/rename some
infos manuelly, the unknow in unchanged gaps even stays there.
+ I think the way how rhythmbox handle the metadatas is an extrafunction.

- Some might say it is useful, but for some others it's bothersome.
-
- There are people who wants a clean Metadata/ID3-Tag and don't like to
- fill the gaps inside and/or syncronize the Metadata with the internet
+ But there are people who wants a clean Metadata/ID3-Tag and don't like
+ to fill the gaps inside and/or syncronize the Metadata with the internet
  (due some reasons nobody knows...).

- My suggest is that rhythmbox should leave the metadata as it is and
- shouldn't fill the empty gaps with anything in addition.
-
- Furthermore, rhythmbox could just fill the textbox with another color to
- show the user i.e. the info 'Interpret' is REALLY empty, instead to
- change the Metadata without asking (like the problem says)
+ My idea is that rhythmbox should leave the metadata as it is and shouldn't
fill the empty gaps with anything in addition.
+ Or it could just has an option like fill gaps with 'unknow', which you can
switch off.

So it can prevent some confusing like why is there an 'unknow' in the
- gap of this metadata?
+ gap of this metadata?, maybe there are people, who think it's a bug!

[Bug 501271] [NEW] Unmounted USB storage still shown in Computer devices but cannot be accessed

2009-12-29 Thread f3a97
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Hi,
I noticed that karmic's nautilus has a weird behaviour with USB storage.

Basically:

1) plug a USB storage device into your USB port
2) after a while, nautilus pops up showing the content of the device and the
device itself is shown on nautlius left pane (resources)
3) unmount the drive, clicking on the eject button

After this step, the USB device disappear from the nautilus resources,
which I might assume is a correct behaviour.

If you go to the computer section, you still see it! If you click on it,
nothing happens. This is very misleading, because the user see the USB
device but cannot access it.

If you remove the USB device from the USB port, it actually disappear
from the Computer section too.

The expected behaviour IMHO should be that:

- either the USB device is not shown anywhere, after the eject
- or the USB device remains visible into the Computer view (as currently
happens), but if the user clicks on it, the device gets mounted again

Thanks!

[Bug 472245] Re: gnome-panel hangs with almost 100% CPU usage

2009-12-29 Thread JPM
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 187540 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187540

I also have this issue at the moment. Ubuntu 9.10, 64bit. Gnome-panel
has a cpu usage of between 80 and 100% and is unusable.

I plugged one of my ntfs hdd's out yesterday. It does have a fstab
entry. Will replug it now and check what happens.

AND IT WORKED!

Everything is fine now. Thus, this is not a duplicate bug. This is a bug
samewhere between gnome-panel - fstab - fuse - ntfs-3g.

My ntfs-3g version is: 2009.11.14 integrated FUSE 27

My fstab line for the ntfs hdd looks as follows: /dev/sdb1 /media/250B
ntfs user 0 0

2009-12-29 Thread Sense Hofstede
Apologises for the delay of this response. I didn't have much time lately due
to foreseen circumstances, I hope you understand.
I also didn't see through this bug completely and didn't interpret the symptoms
correctly right away.

The file chooser dialogue is not a part of Nautilus, but of the GTK+ project.
However, when using GtkFileChooserDialog, the VFS entries should be added
correctly to the sidebar.
The bug you reported is in the GTK+ -- a graphical toolkit -- integration of Qt
-- another graphical toolkit, called QGtkStyle. It tries to draw Qt
applications with GTK+ and uses GtkFileChooser to draw the file chooser. This
is where the bug lies.

[Bug 468045] Re: unable to mount network window share in ubuntu 9.1 desktop

2009-12-29 Thread Tim Sinthofen
DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply.
Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the
message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or
the network connection was broken.
This happens when I try to click on Network in Nautilus. When I click again
on Network it shows the Icon Windows-Network, and when I try to click on this

[Bug 501298] [NEW] rhythmbox doesn't integrate into notify-osd| indicator-applet

2009-12-29 Thread benste
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

As you can see in this post:
http://benste.blogspot.com/2009/09/music-applet-furs-gnome-panel.html

Rhythmbox comes up with light yellow bubbles as title notification
instead of the default transparent gray one (from indicator applet)

Installing music-applet and adding it to the panel corrects this
issue.

I would prefer to have it either installed in lucid by deafult or integrate it
into the default installation of rhytmbox - e.g. as plugin, code may be copied
from music-applet's source OR ?

[Bug 501309] [NEW] Dragging or restoring a window is choppy and slow when Nautilus renders desktop

2009-12-29 Thread Boris Terzic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Environment: this bug is made with ubuntu-bug so I assume the relevant
versions and packages are attached.

The symptoms are:
- Dragging windows across the screen stutters visibly, intermittently halting
for up to half a second. CPU usage is very high at those points, the X (Xorg)
Process specifically.
- Restoring a window from its maximized state is similar, the window is reduced
to its normal size but it takes up to 2-3 seconds for the window itself to
redraw and (probably more importantly) for the desktop to redraw or refresh

I've been able to exclude most typical graphics causes such as the
nvidia driver or Xorg itself by trying the same in KDE which does not
exhibit the problem (same machine, same config).

In fact I can narrow it down specifically to Nautilus: when I go into
gconf-editor and set the property
/apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop to false (unchecked) then the
problem goes away. So in effect, only when Nautilus is drawing the
desktop does this problem occur.

[Bug 501323] [NEW] HP DV5 - Can't suspend, get a Lock Screen instad of suspend

2009-12-29 Thread Zeilloc
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Hello,
I have a laptop hp dv5 1010ef.
I am a bit confused because I don't manage to suspend it (RAM).

When I click on Suspend (Mise en veille cause I am french), I get my
screen locked and the computer doesn't seem to be standby at all (the
leds are still colored).

And yet, I have done this :
- open terminal
- type: sudo gconf-editor
- navigate to /apps/gnome-power-manager/locks
- disable lock_on_hibernate
- disable lock_on_suspend

What this problem could be (I don't know, gdm ? acpi ? pm-utils ?) ?
Don't hesitate to ask me to give you the results of the command line you want.

[Bug 487850] [NEW] Nautilus termina de cargar unas carpetas y otras no

2009-12-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Después de llevar un tiempo trabajando con Nautilus, ordenando los
archivos (videos, fotos, pdfs, etc) llega un momento en que no puedo ver
algunos de los archivos que he colocado en las nuevas carpetas cuando se
que los acabo de poner allí. Nautilus se queda cargando y no acaba. Si
reinicio el ordenador, puedo acceder a esas carpetas pero después de
un tiempo trabajando, vuelve el problema con las mismas o con otras
cuando le parece. He probado Thunar y no hay problema y he probado
nautilus como root y tampoco hay problema. Sospecho que sólo pasa con
las carpetas que incluyen videos.

Uso la versión 9.10 de Ubuntu en 64 bits y no he instalado nada que no
esté en los repositorios oficiales.

Gracias. Good job.

[Bug 487850] Re: Nautilus termina de cargar unas carpetas y otras no

2009-12-29 Thread Monkey
Nautilus doesn´t work fine, sometimes tries to load a folder but never finish
and some files aren´t be shown.
Nautilus works fine as root.
Thunar work without problems.
The problem could be the movie files.
Only software installed since oficial repositories
Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit version.

I think also that the bug is incomplete, I assing the bug to the
nautilus package.

maria trata de hacer una descripción completa tanto del hardware como

[Bug 498164] [NEW] Xubuntu 9.10 : Can't load desktop if screen resolution is set superior to native monitor resolution

2009-12-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

With Xubuntu 9.10 on a TV monitor (640x480 native resolution), if I set
the resolution to 1024x768 (or any other higher resolution than 640x480)
and then reboot, I'll be stuck on GDM, and will not load the Xfce
desktop (come back to GDM again and again), until I remove the
/home/user/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-prechannel-xml/displays.xml file
via a tty terminal.

Back with Xubuntu 9.04, the desktop always loaded with a 640x480
resolution even if I seted it higher. It wasn't optimal but at least it
worked.

I know I report this bug for a powerpc arch which is unsupported, but

I am experiencing the same problem. Its very annoying that you cant add
a song more than once to a queue. I hope that this gets fixed soon.

2009-12-29 Thread gmoore777
I have a similar problem:[lucid]

My GDM is in its default state.(i have not changed it like the above user had
done)
I can log in with a local account (one of the two that is suggests), but when
I click other and log in with
an ActiveDirectory username, ( DOMAIN\first.last),
I do not get prompted for a password.
The screen may go black then bring up the defaul login screen again, with
2 local accounts as suggestions for usernames.

I can log into the machine via ssh from another machine using the same
DOMAIN\first.last account proving that the Likewise-Open software is
installed and running correctly.

I do have this in /var/log/auth.log

[Bug 501414] [NEW] gnome-terminal crashes on insert line sequene

2009-12-29 Thread Micah Cowan
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a fresh gnome-terminal. There must be lines below the prompt to which
text has never yet been written.
2. Enter the command: $ printf '\033[L'
(the INSERT LINE sequence will be sent to gnome-terminal)
3. gnome-terminal crashes.

My assumption is that this is a vte bug; if it's a gnome-terminal bug,
please redirect appropriately (I'm on a work machine, and don't want to
install xfce4 stuff to check this).

This is on Karmic. gnome-terminal 2.28.1-0ubuntu1, libvte9
1:0.22.2-0ubuntu2

[Bug 501424] [NEW] Browse for icon crashes in launcher properties when selecting recently used

2009-12-29 Thread Andy Walker
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

I'm not sure if this is a bug in gnome-panel or if it is a bug in
nautilus itself, but I have been experiencing reproducible lockups if I
follow the following steps:

1) Right-click on panel launcher
2) select properties
3) click on the icon
4) select browse
5) click Recently Used

This causes gnome-panel to become unresponsive and the cursor rapidly
vacillates between the rotating busy icon and the normal mouse cursor.
This behaviour does not occur in other applications, such as gedit.

[Bug 501440] [NEW] A cleaner Nautilus computer:/// window

2009-12-29 Thread pt123
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

In Jaunty the computer:/// of Nautilus was very neat. It only showed you
the name of the partition and not the size of the hard disk it is on
(like Karmic)

Is there anyway of removing the eyesore 500 GB Hardisk: in front of the
drives. It is rather unnecessary and takes the focus from most info the
Name/Label/MountPoint of the partition.
Or it should be shown in a smaller and lighter text below the
Name/Label/MountPoint.

Do I really need to see 500GB so many times, I bought the hard disk I
know it is 500GB, I don't need to be reminded of it every day.

When one has given a label for a partition there is no need to mention
how large the drive the partition sits on, after all it is limited by
the partition size.

attached are screenshots of now (Karmic) and before (on Jaunty)

Using Nautilus 2.28.1,
