[Bug 510354] Re: package libpango1.0-0 should at most recommend libthai0, but not depend on it
Rolf, Ubuntu binaries are not ready for an embedded use case where the space saving issue would really make a difference. However we do care to have support for Thai out of the box -- especially if it's so cheap in terms of space to get. I think a bettter argument against the libthai dep is the recent security issue; I argued the case in the Debian bug report. I still believe it's wishlist and this is the tree hiding the forest; you wouldn't had noticed if the code was maintained in pango itself (as it is for other languages), and I believe using a separate library is actually a good thing (as the security update shows -- we didn't have to roll an update of pango and other embedded code copies, updating libthai was enough). I suppose a lot of people noticed this dep because of the security update. -- package libpango1.0-0 should at most recommend libthai0, but not depend on it https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/510354 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to pango1.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 510563] [NEW] Opening File when Playlist active wipes playlist
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem This is probably one of the most frustrating bugs which leads me to remember why I stop using Totem from time to time. If you have a playlist that you're working through, and you then click on a media file (which opens in the default, Totem) it wipes your playlist, stops playing what you're playing and you loose your playlist. If you are working through a playlist of videos/podcasts etc. losing your place and track of where you are in a list of 10/20 files this is unbelievably annoying. Steps: 1. Open Totem 2. Add several items to the playlist for listening/viewing 3. Start listening to an item in the playlist 4. Open a Nautilus window 5. Browse to a media file 6. Click on a media file 7. Note how what you were doing is now gone and playlist lost, you're now watching that video What should happen: Either a new instance of Totem which doesn't lose what I was doing, or add the new file to the playlist. What it certainly should not do is wipe something I took time to get set up and stop playing something that I'm in the middle of. I might pause what I'm doing and then want to quickly view a small video/audio file, I still want to return to that activity. Current Work-around: Don't use totem for playlists, or set something else as the default handler. If you do these things, then it won't wreck your playlist because you're using two different apps for the same thing. ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Opening File when Playlist active wipes playlist https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/510563 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

What happened instead is that the page view is correct (the cursor is in the first page), but in the left you are now viewing the second page, which is obviously incorrect. [Bug 510573] [NEW] Ubuntu 9.10
Public bug reported: I found this in question #97794: I've just installed Ubuntu 9.10 on an IBM T42 ThinkPad. When I open a PDF in Evince and attempt to resize the window, the system freezes up badly - not even caps lock responds. It doesn't seem to be an official kernel panic because there are no blinkenlights. So far nothing else has caused the same sort of freeze. I have the exact same problem as the person above... I also have Ubuntu 9.10 on a T42 thinkpad. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit.
