 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: gnome-games

Unfortunately I don't have a good characterization for this bug, and I'm
not sure how to go about getting one.

Several times, while playing a game in aisleriot, my X session has been
suddenly logged out for no obvious reason. It's possible this is due to
some other bug that has coincidentally gone off while using aisleriot, but
it's happened enough times that it seems like it must be aiselriot that is
the trigger. I think it's always been while I've been mid-drag with some
cards, but I'm not certain about this.

Any advice on how to get some useful debug information for this would he
handy - there's not much of a handle on this, I know.

[Bug 511742] Re: enter is mapped to ^[OM in vim

2010-01-25 Thread Bernhard
Another way to reproduce the problem which shows even more how serious
the bug is:

1) type into a terminal info cat
2) hit / to do a search
3) type anything and hit ENTER

you will get the error [`ESC O m' is invalid]. This means I cannot do
any regular searches in info dialogs in a standard Ubuntu install.

[Bug 90524] Re: Time-admin's Synchronize Now should be enabled even in NTP mode

This could be solved with the same changes as what bug 62745 requires:
stopping ntp, running ntpdate, and restarting ntp. This simply needs
some thought since the NTP backend doesn't know anything about services,
so we need to make the GUI do the work for it in tight integration.

[Bug 512233] [NEW] nautilus extension does not find GPG keys with seahorse-daemon being d-bus activated

2010-01-25 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

[Bug 512235] [NEW] Fix gnome failsafe support in lucid (supporting session with arguments

2010-01-25 Thread Didier Roche
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

In case of failsafe session, gnome-session is called with -f options.

Currently, in lucid :
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/20x11-common_process-args with $1 gnome-session -f,
causes some troubles when trying to STARTUP_FULL_PATH=$(/usr/bin/which $1 ||
true) :)

Then, we got an empty STARTUP variable and
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/50x11-common_determine-startup set it to
/usr/bin/x-session-manager, which is an alternative to gnome-session in lucid.
Finally, the failsafe session isn't started.

Also, if seahorse-plugins is installed:
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/60seahorse-plugins will add gnome-session -f to $STARTUP
(thinking that first bug is fixed).
Unfortunately, STARTUP=$SEAHORSE --execute $STARTUP, --execute doesn't
support additional arguments like gnome-session -f. It should be gnome-session
-- -f.

This fixes that too.

the Updates tab and place a tick next to Pre-released updates (karmic-

[Bug 150702] Re: alt shift tab stopped navigating windows

2010-01-25 Thread Oded Arbel
This bug report does not seem to me to be related to the layout keyboard
conflict - as none of the workarounds actually work when you have the
layout switching set. I think this bug is a problem with Compiz (as
obviously disabling it works as a solution for some people).

I changed the dups of bug #300470 and bug #322068, both of which seem to
be about the layout switching conflict, to be dupes of bug #36812 that
is linked to the relevant X.org bug. I suggest moving all layout
switching related discussion to there.

[Bug 512235] Re: Fix gnome failsafe support in lucid (supporting session with arguments

2010-01-25 Thread Didier Roche
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xorg

In case of failsafe session, gnome-session is called with -f options.
+ The bug was in /etc/X11/Xsession.d/20x11-common_process-args where $1 is
gnome-session -f
+ This causes some troubles when trying to STARTUP_FULL_PATH=$(/usr/bin/which
$1 || true)
+ So, we went to else statement, without STARTUP set up

- Currently, in lucid :
- /etc/X11/Xsession.d/20x11-common_process-args with $1 gnome-session -f,
causes some troubles when trying to STARTUP_FULL_PATH=$(/usr/bin/which $1 ||
true) :)
+ Consequently /etc/X11/Xsession.d/50x11-common_determine-startup set it
+ to /usr/bin/x-session-manager, which is an alternative to gnome-session
+ in lucid.

- Then, we got an empty STARTUP variable and
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/50x11-common_determine-startup set it to
/usr/bin/x-session-manager, which is an alternative to gnome-session in lucid.
- Finally, the failsafe session isn't started.
+ -

  Also, if seahorse-plugins is installed:
  /etc/X11/Xsession.d/60seahorse-plugins will add gnome-session -f to
$STARTUP (thinking that first bug is fixed).
  Unfortunately, STARTUP=$SEAHORSE --execute $STARTUP, --execute doesn't
support additional arguments like gnome-session -f. It should be gnome-session
-- -f.

  This fixes that too.

[Bug 150702] Re: alt shift tab stopped navigating windows

2010-01-25 Thread David N. Welton
I just wanted to mention a few things, since I had been involved with
another bug:

I'm using a fresh Karmic install, no compiz, no visual effects, and I
*am* able to remap alt-shift-tab how I want (which is to lower the
focused window, rather than navigating), which I was previously unable
to do. Previously, it seemed to be hard-wired and I was unable to
change the behavior. So for what I need, the bug has gone away.
Thanks!

[Bug 512231] Re: seahorse-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in egg_set_desktop_file()

2010-01-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package seahorse - 2.29.3-0ubuntu3

---
seahorse (2.29.3-0ubuntu3) lucid; urgency=low

  * Add debian/patches/02_fix_crash_without_autostart.patch: Fix crash if
autostart .desktop file does not exist. (LP: #512231)
  * debian/seahorse.install: Drop daemon autostart .desktop file. With above
fix, D-Bus activation works fine, and this saves quite some startup time
cost. (Upstream patch: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=608012,
but it touches autostart files, so it's easier to just not install it in
the packaging).
  * debian/seahorse.preinst: Remove daemon autostart .desktop file on upgrade.
  * Drop 12_autostart_later.patch, obsolete.

Status in The GNOME games package: Invalid
Status in “gtk+2.0” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released
Status in “gtk+2.0” source package in Karmic: Fix Committed

[Bug 512274] [NEW] Syntax highlighting of JavaScript in HTML falls back to HTML too early

2010-01-25 Thread netAction
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

gedit 2.28.0-0ubuntu2 on Ubuntu 9.10 i386
This works as it should:

html
script
document.write('br');
var foo = 'bar';
/script
/html

With an added slash it does not work. The declaration of foo is already
highlighted like HTML:

html
script
document.write('br/');
var foo = 'bar';

[Bug 150702] Re: alt shift tab stopped navigating windows

2010-01-25 Thread TJ
From a clean install of Ubuntu Karmic (x86_64) (rather than in-place
upgrade from Jaunty), and mounting the existing /home/ volume into it
(so the user settings are all inherited) I've checked and this bug isn't
affecting this PC.

The only difference I can see with regard to Compiz settings is I have
custom settings (not 'Normal' or 'Extra'' visual effects) because I have
the 3D cube configured on two X screens.

It looks as if the problem is in the source package generation and the
patch itself.

The patch to fix this is debian/patches/012_default_keybinding.patch
which patches src/metacity.schemas.in which is generated by automake
(from src/metacity.schemas.in.in). These lead to 'make' creating
src/metacity.schemas.

However, when the package is built 'make' regenerates
src/metacity.schemas.in thus wiping out the changes made by the patch:

--
$ fakeroot debian/rules build
...
Trying patch debian/patches/012_default_keybinding.patch at level 1 ... success.
...
Generating keybinding schemas... ./metacity.schemas.in.in
./schema_bindings ./metacity.schemas.in.in ./metacity.schemas.in
LC_ALL=C /usr/bin/intltool-merge -s -u -c ../po/.intltool-merge-cache ../po
metacity.schemas.in metacity.schemas
Generating and caching the translation database
Merging translations into metacity.schemas.
...
--

This is obvious if you try to do a package clean:

--
$ fakeroot debian/rules clean
...
Trying reverse patch debian/patches/012_default_keybinding.patch at level 1 ...
0 ... 2 ... failure.
make: *** [reverse-patches] Error 1
--

So the obvious fix would be for the patch to be applied to
src/metacity.schemas.in.in.

However, looking at the contents of the patch it isn't clear to me *why*
that should work since it affects the
/apps/metacity/window_keybindings/move_to_workspace_12 key, not
/apps/metacity/global_keybindings/switch_windows_backward.

Also, the patch is described as a fix for this bug in comment #15 and a
changelog entry is shown there which is in the Hardy package changelog;
however that entry *does not* appear in the current source package's
changelog (or any since Hardy), instead the patch itself is referenced
but no specific mention of this bug reference:

--
metacity (1:2.23.21-0ubuntu1) intrepid; urgency=low
...
  * debian/patches/012_default_keybinding.patch:
Fix default keybinding for shift-alt-tab

 -- Pedro Fragoso embe...@gmail.com Tue, 03 Jun 2008 18:36:06 +0100
--

Inspecting the contents of the patches for Hardy (created my Michael)
and the patch that is in Intrepid and later (from Pedro's changelog
report) the difference is obvious - they are being applied to different
key-bindings:

--
$ diff -Nu metacity-2.22.0/debian/patches/012_default_keybinding.patch
metacity-2.28.0/debian/patches/012_default_keybinding.patch
...
+@@ -1348,7 +1348,7 @@
+

display/short
- long
+ shortMove window to workspace 12/short
+ longThe format looks like quot;lt;Controlgt;aquot; or
quot;lt;Shiftgt;lt;Altgt;F1quot;.
--

So the issue seems to be twofold:

1. The patches are inconsistent, conflicting, or accidentally misformed during
a source package refresh
2. The patch should apply to metacity.schemas.in.in if the package-build is
going to cause metacity.schemas.in to be regenerated after source package
patching has been applied.

[Bug 512306] [NEW] fading can't be interrupted at times

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

Description:Ubuntu 9.10

Before the screenblanker kicks in, the screen fades to black. Most of
the time it is possible to interrupt the fading by pressing a key on the

to finish and deal with the screenblanker. This is just a major

[Bug 426099] Re: Disc doesn't eject after burning; starts checksum again

2010-01-25 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody
experiencing it could send the bug the to the people writing the
software. You can learn more about how to do this for various upstreams
at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME . Thanks in advance!

[Bug 511205] Re: Computer reboots when enabling/disabling ntp

2010-01-25 Thread Milan Bouchet-Valat
Absolutely empty? Even with the -v option? I can't believe it, I've just
checked twice here, at least there's always an init output. Just check it
manually by running
sudo /usr/share/system-tools-backends-2.0/scripts/SystemToolsBackends.pl -m
ServicesConfig -v

Anyway, the new time-admin.log you posted is interesting because some
error messages have gone. So that means they're not at fault, which
prevents me from going on a wrong track.

[Bug 511881] Re: was playing with gnomeshell, when I exited, gnome 2.28 would not return, cntl-alt-delete also did nothing... going to have to a hard shutdown.

2010-01-25 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you
are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are
having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if
you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug.

[Bug 512072] Re: Crash when editing Genre in the Radio tab.

2010-01-25 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
