[Bug 11334] Re: MASTER Copy-Paste doesn't work if the source is closed before the paste

2010-02-10 Thread Bartolomeo Nicolotti
Could someone explain why this isn't one of the first bugs to fix in hundred
paper cuts where perfectly fits?
Could someone tell us when this bug will be fixed?

Many thanks

[Bug 499999] Re: Print Request Causes a Freeze

2010-02-10 Thread Sergio Zanchetta
I found out the problem.
Two weeks ago I changed router.
The old one uses 10.0.0.x LN IPs, the new one 192.168.1.x IPs.
I have two printer, one of them is configured through IPP.

Freezes happened when it tried to contact that printer (but PC had a new
IP number).

I fixed it removing old printer from System-Administration-Print and creting
a new one.
In fact it's a bug anyway but it must be addressed to cups or other related
package.

Can someone confirm it please?

[Bug 11334] Re: MASTER Copy-Paste doesn't work if the source is closed before the paste

2010-02-10 Thread Jackflap
Installing glipper or parcellite by default is not a fix, if we did
that, then we wouldn't have solved the problem that the specification
itself was designed to solve.

And the real reason this bug is not a papercut because it is not
trivial. If it was trivial then someone would have fixed it already.

Every bug comes down to a cost-benefit balance. If the cost of fixing it
is more than just living with it for every person, IT DOESN'T GET DONE.

A lot of you are asking stupid questions.. why isnt it fixed, blah blah
blah, whine whine. Well it's simple, in the same way that the cost of
you learning how to program, studying the spec and implementing a fix
isn't worth your time (or money), then for exactly the same reason no
other dev has done it either.

Until someone has the necessary experience, time, or motivation to fix
this, it will just sit waiting. The occasional reminder on the bug
report is fine, but please, the best thing you can do is start learning
to code and maybe a few years down the line you'll be able to write the
patch yourself if it's so important to you.

[Bug 203527] Re: Clicking on clock applet hangs gnome-panel

2010-02-10 Thread erlguta
This bug affects to me in Karmic too. If for some reason, evolution calendar
hangs up when i click in the clock applet it complety haungs up the upper and
lower panel.
Maybe it is because i have configured syncronization with google calendar, and
if it is inaccessible, it makes evolution calendar crash and this the clock
applet and the panels.
This happens often when i resume form suspend.
I attach one screenshot where yo can see evolution hanged up and the clock
panel clicked and hanged up too

R: [Bug 519671] Re: Mount volume Lacie - no permission to work

2010-02-10 Thread alquabar
It reproduces every time I connect LaCie (before or after the turning on of the
eeePC).

Until two weeks ago, it worked good.
That time I interrupted a download through the eeePC (connected via-USB with
LaCie) of a part of a torrent (ktorrent), and I turned off the eeePC.
Later I retrieved to continue the download and it doesn't resume.
I re-tried another time to resume that download, and that time it resumed, but
had lost a great part of the precedent torrent download.
At the end I cancelled the torrent download and cancelled the files already
downloaded.
I didn't used LaCie with eeePC untili today.
A last thing: LaCie is going well with the windows (XP) Acer Laptop I also
have.

Excuse me for the lack of technical information,
thank you very much for your fast answer.

So this LaCie is useless.

[Bug 519725] Re: Empathy segmentation fault when minimize to tray

2010-02-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 495377] Re: Evolution Birthday Calendar Doesn`t show Ubuntu One contacts birthdays

2010-02-10 Thread Carlo Annaratone
Hello to everyone, also seems that this a quite common problem. I am currently
running karmic koala amd64, and i'm having trouble visualizing birthday from
contacts in my personal folder. Actually I don't have any contact in my
ubuntuone folder. I have already tried to remove contacts with birthdays before
1971 (as it was a older bug affecting evolution) but nothing changed. Yesterday
after a LDAP sync birthdays showed, but after i restarted evolution,
disappeared again. If you tell me which files to send I'll be glad to describe
everyone in more detail my annoying situation. Thank you,

[Bug 476013] Re: USB floppy drives aren't formatted correctly

2010-02-10 Thread David Given
I'm pretty sure it's a bug: if you insert an unformatted disk and ask
Nautilus to format it, it'll fail. If you insert a formatted disk with
some non-standard format --- my USB floppy drive supports a format with
1kB sectors, for example --- Nautilus will claim to succeed but the disk
won't actually be mountable. Some formats will actually seem to work,
but the disks won't be readable if you try to use them in a non-Linux
based computer.

2010-02-10 Thread alquabar
Grazie mille brunogirin! Il fatto è che, anche ora, per esempio, ho collegato
il LaCie e posso montarlo e vedere tutto ciò che c'è dentro (e anche copiarlo
sulla scrivania del computer), ma se voglio copiarci sopra una cartella (dal
computer a LaCIe), mi dice:
Errore durante la copia su LaCie
La destinazione è di sola lettura
Ripeto, il LaCie funziona bene sul Laptop Acer windows XP.

Ho anche fatto, su suggerimento di un altro amico, sul terminale:
media/ls -la
e mi dà (mi pare) gli stessi permessi che per le la chiavetta USB e la microSD
che ho collegate all'eeePC

dwrx-- (un numero, diverso per ogni media: 5, 12, ) (il mio nome utente
- uso solo io il computer) root (altri numeri ecc.).

Solo che la chiavetta USB e la microSD funzionano bene.

Grazie mille.

[Bug 519804] [NEW] Wrong icons appearance in notification icon menu

2010-02-10 Thread Luca Ferretti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

The new menu showed clicking on Rhythmbox notification icon has bad
labels/icons alignment and doesn't follow the other GTK+ plain menus.

Here is attached a picture about current appearance and how it should
be. However I think this is not a Rhythmbox only related issue, but more
generally to all libindicate based notification icons. Please note that
in order to show an icon for a menu entry overriding the current no
icons in menu default in GNOME, should be used the gtk-image-menu-item-
set-always-show-image() function[1] (or similar other)

[Bug 517181] Re: It is not giving me access to my usb to delete files from it. But ican read files from USB. But it is not allowing me to modify them

2010-02-10 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 476013] Re: USB floppy drives aren't formatted correctly

2010-02-10 Thread malev
Hi David,
You're right, it is a bug, but first we need to confirm it. Now I'm at work,
but as soon as I get home I'm gonna ask at the ubuntu's IRC chat room if there
is someone with the same experience. I don't have any floppy drive to confirm
the bug.
Regards
malev

[Bug 517410] Re: Dialog Open File... consumes 100% CPU when select a file

2010-02-10 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody
experiencing it could send the bug the to the people writing the
software. You can learn more about how to do this for various upstreams
at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME . Thanks in advance!

[Bug 502429] Re: Nautilus does not show the statistics (employment record) on all partitions

2010-02-10 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
As Sebastien said this is not really a bug is the way nautilus works,
there's a couple of bugs though that might be interested to you one is
bug 144766 where they're requesting that pie chart to be available in
more folders other than root ones and bug 115745 , where the request is
to have baobab as part of nautilus so you'd be able to use that pie
chart wherever you want to, marking this as invalid though, feel free to
subscribe to any of those two reports, thanks in advance.

[Bug 437414] Re: some protocol icons in create account dropdown menu are missing

2010-02-10 Thread Vish
*phew* .. icons that are required in the accounts dialogue have been
committed upstream.

loubserp-mxit actually has to be renamed to mxit .
If the icon is not displayed for loubserp-mxit , its because the renaming is
not yet been done.

From what upstream devs mention , the remaining protocols in Arturo
Ilhuıtemoc's screenshot, should not be displayed there. [That is a
separate bug]

Marking bug as fix committed.
