Subject: [Bug 519428] Re: Gnometris responds very slowly

From looking at the attached XsessionErrors.txt, it seems that Gnometris
is using Clutter, and that something is going wrong with GLX
acceleration. Please attach the following to this bug report:

 1) The output of lspci -vvnn
 2) The output of glxinfo (note that you will need to install the mesa-utils
 package for this to work).

Also tell us which video driver (and it's version) you are using, if
 known.

Does glxgears run reasonably well? (You will need to install the mesa-
utils package for this to work).

Re: [Bug 520629] Re: rhythmbox crashes after loading a radio station

2010-02-12 Thread PvdM
Nigel,

Thanks for your reply. It is a little more complicated than that. Rhythmbox
crashes after changing a radio-stream. Not always after the first change,
but usually within a change or two..It gives than two dialog boxes on top of
each other. One tells me It cannot START the music pipeline and on top of
that a dialog-box (or the other way around,I don't remember) that it cannot
STOP the music pipeline. After that nothing works. It won't play any music.
No flac-files or MP3-files on the harddisk, no podcasts that are already
downloaded and no musicstream or radio as mentioned. The only way to make it
running again is to completely close down the application (not neccesary to
close down the laptop). With the closing of Rhythmbox an empty dialogbox
appears. After closing that and starting Rhythmbox again, it will run fine
.till I try to change a radio-station.

I now am really considering to run an older distro from Ubuntu (not 9.01,
but the previous one). Just to make things running again.

Regards,
Peter van der Maas

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
 Ubuntu better.

Do you mean to say that the problem happens when to pause/stop a stream
 and try to play again?

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox crashes the second time I load a radio-stream. After that it
displays an error-message that It cannot start the music pipeline and on top
of that a dialog-box that it cannot stop the music pipeline. After that it
is not possible to play any music at all. After restarting Rhythmbox it will
again play one radio-stream, but after switching to another radiostation the
 music stops again.HELP!

I must say that it all worked flawlessly before the last
software-update...so I suspect something went wrong there.

[Bug 520852] [NEW] Can't take screenshot with Printscreen while drop-down box (select input field) is open in Firefox

2010-02-12 Thread Ketil
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

I wanted to grab a screenshot of a webpage with a select input open. The
PRTSC (print screen) button did not work as expected when the drop-down
box was selected and showing the options. As soon as I closed the drop-

screenshot.

This seemed to me to be a very unnatural dependency, and makes no sense

[Bug 16492] Re: Mouse pointer should disappear when keyboard is in use and mouse isn't

2010-02-12 Thread Luke Symes
I had a look at this today, scrolling through pages of gtk gdk stuff.
I have tried coding up a potential solution, and the preliminary patch
is attached. Please note, it is just an experiment, and has not been
tested in any way, it was just to see where I could solve the problem.

I think that it would be good for gtkwidget to have the main
implementation which would then be inherited everywhere, but widgets
need to be able to override it. Thus the patch needs more work so
gtktextview and gtkentry can replace the gtkwidget implementation with
their own.

2010-02-12 Thread Mitch Towner
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug had the wrong package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this
bug as a bug in gnome-utils.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 520863] [NEW] Window manager (metacity) hangs hard every now and again

2010-02-12 Thread Ketil
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: metacity

Metacity (I think? could also be X...) hangs hard every once in a while.
It's pretty irregular, but it has happened probably 5-10 times since I
installed Karmic on my laptop some weeks ago.

What happens is that all windows and the wm suddenly stop responding to
mouse clicks and other input. I can still move the cursor around, but I
can't actually do anything. No menus work. No keycombos work, eg ctrl-
alt-F1 to change to a console, or ctrl-alt-arrows to change desktop. The
only keycombos I get to work are ctrl-alt-sysrq-keys, and ctrl-alt-
sysrq-k kills X and the wm, but they don't come back again, so I need to
follow up with ctrl-alt-sysrq-b.

OK so in short, when you connect to your LaCie hard disk, everything is
considered as read-only: you can read and copy from the disk but you
can't write or copy to it.

Quando collegui il LaCie al tuo EeePC, puoi apprire un terminale e
farre:

cd /media
ls -ls

Per esempio, quando ho il mio disco Samsung collegato, mi da:

 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 2009-11-13 20:44 cdrom - cdrom0
 4 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2009-11-13 20:44 cdrom0

dopo fa encorra:

cd LaCie (o qualcun nome si usa per il tuo LaCie)
ls -ls

Sul mio, ho per esempio:

[Bug 520918] [NEW] During upgrade/dist-upgrade the terminal window changes color.

2010-02-12 Thread John Vivirito
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

This is a possible regression since it didn't do it when i first
upgraded to Lucid.

During upgrades the gnome-terminal window changes background of all
terminals open. Opening a new terminal it is the right color background.
Im not really sure what package causes it but i will add the packages i
upgraded just a little while ago, but it happens on all updates. I am
attaching screenshots. The first one is the changing of background

not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to

having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if
you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see

[Bug 520969] [NEW] Screensaver never turns on

2010-02-12 Thread mdmcginn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

Opening new bug per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
screensaver/+bug/397892/comments/54

Screen never fades, unlike bug 491926. Running gnome-screensaver-
command -a makes my screen fade and the Pictures Folder display, but it
doesn't happen automatically even after hours of inactivity at night. I
have XScreensaver installed but not running (an attempt to customize my
screensavers further).

System/Preferences/Appearance/Visual Effects is set to None on my GNOME
desktop.

This has happened for months, and I've rebooted several times after the
release of bug fix package gnome-screensaver - 2.28.0-0ubuntu3.1.

I don't think I have any GTK context menus open. I sometimes run VNC,
VirtualBox and Remote Desktop Viewer, but not right now and not all
night.

[Bug 520761] Re: e-mail accounts without @ crash evolution and X

2010-02-12 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

yes.
i think now these are just layot names that can be named not only by country,
but any way, i thought they are by country when i reported this bug, may be
that was designed to be by country but some arabic countries all use one arabic
layot and signed that for all of them as Ara.
also i have tried to add Switzerland French and German, they are signed as
Che and Che2 - may be, i do not know, also uncomfortable sign, and so
indeed most of layots are signed by country.

[Bug 255228] Re: Disabling the suspend and hibernate locks via gconf-editor doesn't do anything (from Intrepid to Karmic included)

2010-02-12 Thread joytek
I too have the same problem on my Toshiba M500 running 9.10 with the
latest updates ... but in reverse I am trying to make the system
prompt for a password upon resume. i have tried the gconf-editor method
to no avail. Both in sudo and without it makes absolutely what is
checked in the editor ... the system still does NOT prompt upon resume.
It used to to so, but since the latest updates it no longer does. Also
another weird thing is that the suspend button combo (func+F3) does
still suspend the machine BUT when I press the power button to resume
(like it used to work) the computer resumes with a frozen cursor, and
promptly goes back to sleep only a complete power down with the
battery out solves this cycle. I am an ubuntu n00b so it is quite
difficult for me to diagnose all this, but I have tried all suggested
methods and so far have had no luck.

The status icon hides automatically when you disable multiple keyboard

I know, but I reassigned Caps Lock light to show the layout and Caps
Lock key to switch (no one uses mouse to switch anyway), so this is
duplication. And surely this won't add much to lots of options under

[Bug 520989] [NEW] Rhytmbox fails to copy tracks after error

2010-02-12 Thread Joe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

The copy tracks to the library function successfully copies tracks off
a CD tomy music library. I inadvertently press this button a second
time with the same CD still in the reader. The program responds with the
alert Do you want to overwrite the existing track name? If I answer
No the system responds with the following error message Error
transferring track unable to locate encoding profile for mime-type -
Close. If I press Close once for each track presumably, and insert a
new CD to copy tracks, the program fails to copy any additional tracks
unless I quit and restaert the program. The first problem is with the
error message after entering No to the question Do you want to
overwrite The second problem is the failure to copy any additional
tracks without exiting and restrating the program.

[Bug 519965] Re: Text file gets stuck in printu queue

2010-02-12 Thread Kadjette
I figured out the printing problem on my computer. For whatever reason I
had changed my printer to HP Office Jet USB series. I changed it back to
the regular HP Office Jet that Ubuntu had initially installed and it is
all good now. This bug can be closed out.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make

not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to

[Bug 521004] [NEW] No encryption keys were found with which to perform the operation you requested. The program Passwords and Encryption Keys will now be started so that you may either create a key o

2010-02-12 Thread joehill
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: seahorse

Before upgrading to karmic, I used seahorse regularly to
encrypt/decrypt/sign/verify files. After upgrading to karmic, it no
longer finds my keys. I get the message No encryption keys were found
with which to perform the operation you requested. The program
Passwords and Encryption Keys will now be started so that you may either
create a key or import one. It opens the Passwords and Encryption
Keys dialog and it only remembers my ssh logins and passwords, but none
of my personal or 3rd-party gpg keys. I am certain that I haven't played
with any of the settings or moved any of the files manually.

Perhaps there's something mal-configured on my system that could be
easily fixed, but it certainly seems buggy that something like that
would happen on an upgrade.
