hi, yes sounds work now for i use karmic koala.. if i will reinstall jaunty.. the sound will disappear again.. i guess the problem is with jaunty.. if i install avant manager now on karmic koala.. it kills rythmbox.(stock on my screen-no reaction) i experienced it and i reported it already.. 2 things i have not tested , the lightscriber function and sd card of this HP..i always forget.. and i do not see any software for it from synptic pkg mgr.. If i reinstall the original OS which is windows 7.. lightscribe works and sd/mmm card slot..of course with additional software given to me by laptop dealer.. linux for this laptop is good.. except for some packages i installed which sometimes kills other packages.. ok thanks a lot ! -- rhythmbox no sound no play on i386 ubuntu 9.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/460340 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 522525] [NEW] Brightness not adjusted when switching from AC to battery
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager Hi, When swtiching from AC to battery (and back to AC), the screen brightness is not dimmed, while g-p-m is configured as it should (at least, I think it is). this is using an Acer Timeline 1810TZ with the latest available BIOS update (3303). The brightness can be adjusted using the fn keys or the brightness applet. Setting the default brightness via g-p-m preference window also works. I do have an /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness file, which is set to the current brightness. I have also noticed that g-p-m needs a few seconds before updating its status when unplugging the laptop from AC (or plugging it again), which might means some information are incorrectly sent by acpi (?) but I am not sure what information should be provided to try and debug this issue. [Bug 522584] [NEW] Applications starting in fullscreen jump to the left monitor in a dual-screen setup
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity I'm having a dual-screen setup where mine main monitor is the right one. Until recently (I don't know exactly when it changed) an application started in fullscreen was displayed on the monitor with the mouse cursor. But now it is displayed for a fraction of a second on mine main monitor before it jumps to the left one. This only happens for applications started in fullscreen and I have to move them to the right monitor (once they are there they stay there as long as they are running). [Bug 34886] Re: displays too many drives
Would it be asking for the moon to suggest that in the drop-down menu for Places there be another item, just below Removable Media called HD Partitions or something similar? On my system when I open Removable Media 39 partitions are shown, most with the same label 10GB Filesystem which cover the screen. I usually want to mount exactly none of them, and when I do, I use the terminal. If there were another item for these partitions surely that would make everyone happy. [Bug 13983] Re: Evolution virtual trash / real trash on IMAP server
I accept that Evolution is implementing IMAP as intended, however the YOUR DOING IT WRONG argument is a silly one. Usability is about producing a system which works in a human natural way, not necessarily the most sensible. Users of IMAP want to be able to view and manage their emails in a consistent and logical way.. when an ordinary user uses Evolution they end up with 2 trash folders and 2 junk folders; when they junk or delete their emails and then switch client, their emails still appear in their inbox. This causes confusion and leads people to switch to Thunderbird. The internet is littered with comments of people using thunderbird in place of evolution for exactly this reason, in spite of the integration advantages. If evolution was a multi-platform email client then the argument might hold more water, people could choose to use it exclusively and would never notice the difference. As it is it isn't multi-platform and they do notice the difference. What we are asking for is choice, I want to be able to not use virtual folders. I want to move my trash and junk to their own folders, which I can empty as I choose. I do not want my Inbox littered with emails I don't want to see. I simply don't care if I am doing it wrong, that is the way I and most others seem to do it. I want evolution to simply allow me to do it the same way, until they do I will continue with Thunderbird. -- Evolution virtual trash / real trash on IMAP server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/13983 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 522587] Re: [lucid] gnome-settings-deamon segfaults in libgnome-desktop
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid ** Changed in: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) -- [lucid] gnome-settings-deamon segfaults in libgnome-desktop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/522587 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
