[Bug 392043] Re: Drop a selection on a hidden window (Nautilus, gedit, Firefox, Thunderbird, anything) is not possible
Sorry, I've been away for a while from Linux systems. Seems that we've misunderstood each other about the patch. I only proposed the way to solve the problem, with out doing actual patch - I simply don't know how to do the one :) If you point me on the doc page describing the process of doing the patch, patching, and testing the patched system, I'd be glad to try to follow it. [Bug 511729] Re: Empathy didn't import contacts from gaim/pidgin
Right. It seems to me that the problem is caused by having two IRC accounts with the same username, which I have because I have one for Freenode, Mozilla, Gnome etc. If I select only one Luna-Tick IRC account (no matter which), the import succeeds (though there is no user feedback at all and you have to go into the Accounts to see it has worked -- is this normal?) Right, This is by design and due to some technical issues. If you choose the Ubuntu Netbook Edition session, the panel is locked. [Bug 524304] [NEW] [xorg-edgers] High CPU usage with murrine progressbars
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: xorg Since today's update : xorg (1:7.5+1ubuntu2) to 1:7.5+1ubuntu3 xserver-xorg (1:7.5+1ubuntu2) to 1:7.5+1ubuntu3 xserver-xorg-input-all (1:7.5+1ubuntu2) to 1:7.5+1ubuntu3 xserver-xorg-video-all (1:7.5+1ubuntu2) to 1:7.5+1ubuntu3 xserver-xorg-video-ati (1:6.12.99+git20100215.47136fa3-0ubuntu0sarvatt) to 1:6.12.99+git20100218.a3b730ec-0ubuntu0sarvatt xserver-xorg-video-radeon (1:6.12.99+git20100215.47136fa3-0ubuntu0sarvatt) to 1:6.12.99+git20100218.a3b730ec-0ubuntu0sarvatt I noticed that the Xorg CPU usage is ~40% only when xchat window was open. this seems to be due to the progressbars. It happens only If I enable view network meters graph [which is a progress bar] Also happens when I use the widget factory to preview themes. There is a progressbar preview which shows how the theme will render the progressbar. This happens only when the murrine engine is rendering the progressbar. [does not happen with clearlooks/industrial engines] Also happens when updating the repos using the reload in synaptic. similar to Bug #355355 , but now even higher CPU usage , previously it was ~30% , now ~40% But does not happen with the progressbars in Transmission bittorrent client or the progress bars in evolution during send/recieve. [Bug 327872] Re: Broken support for AVCHD (MTS/M2TS)
Jean-François Fortin Tam: AVCHD is about H.264 codec but the codec output is stored inside an MPEG transport stream and stored on media as binary files (as explained on the wikipedia page you linked to). See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVCHD#Specifications for details, notice especially the part Stream type: MPEG transport stream. A camcorder that stores the H.264 codec output in a .mov container is not AVCHD conforming, if I've understood correctly. H.264 codec works already fine with gstreamer, the problem is M2TS (or .MTS in 8.3 file system) container format used to store the H.264 codec output. VLC is already able to play H.264 stored inside M2TS container modulo some bugs (such as not being able to correctly skip in the middle of the file). -- Broken support for AVCHD (MTS/M2TS) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/327872 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gstreamer0.10 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 519583] Re: can't add, move, unlock applets no clock
No bug on the gnome project about that AFAIK. Supporting multiple GNOME session with different user configuration isn't available upstream and something we did into ubuntu. However, being able to edit the added session is really tricky in case of GNOME panel and shouldn't land in a LTS. That's why the workaround will be the documentation LaserJock will write, but unfortunately, you won't be able anymore to have a dedicated GNOME session you can choose in GDM. [Bug 327872] Re: Broken support for AVCHD (MTS/M2TS)
Updated title and description for clarity ** Description changed: - AVCHD is the de facto standard for HDV (high definition video) - camcorders and as such, Ubuntu users need a way to easily play, edit and - see thumbnails of videos created. + MPEG transport stream (MPEG-TS) is used for HDV and AVCHD camcorders and + as such, Linux users need a way to easily play, edit and see thumbnails + of these videos. Video editing on Linux can't get very far when the de + facto standard for high-definition video isn't well-supported, + especially as more and more cameras are HD out of the box, and the + prices for such camcorders are falling. Most of the problem seems to be from the MPEG-TS demuxer in GStreamer [mpegtsdemux] which needs to be fixed or rewritten to support random access better, among other things. - - Video editing on Linux can't very far when the hi-def video standard - isn't well supported. [Bug 21202] Re: Clipboard is erased after closing program. affects multiple programs.
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 11334 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/11334 @mercury80: Yes, you know where it needs to be fixed, I know where it needs to be fixed, most of us know where it needs to be fixed, but the developers are cocky and stubborn. They really don't care about the number of duplicates and the number of comments on the original bug report and all of those duplicates. They just don't want to fix it, so it's not going to happen. Only real solution: Stop using these kind of amateuristic operating systems. If you've got the money, just buy a Mac. It also has Unix-roots, it's fast and stable and everything just works. There's just a clipboard that works for all applications. Mac OS X isn't created by some amateurs who try to write some code in their spare time. Apple has a lot of professional developers who're being paid and they know how which features are important and they've got the skills to develop these features. -- Clipboard is erased after closing program. affects multiple programs. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/21202 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a subscriber of a duplicate bug (via bug 11334). -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 301389] Re: Brightness applet does not work correctly on a Macbook
** Description changed: On a Macbook 1,1 , dragging the slider of the brightness applet causes the screen to flicker ( brightness is adjusted afterwards though ). Worse, if I just click on the - button to decrease the brightness, the backlight is turned off completely rendering the screen unusable. [Bug 524497] [NEW] Positioning of login screen 'panel' inconsistent with desktop's
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm This has been bugging me for a long time now. There's a usability issue with the login screen's panel being at the bottom of the screen. It should be at the top, or at the very least the elements that are present in both the login screen and the desktop (the clock and shutdown menu) should be positioned consistently. It's very confusing as it stands, with the clock and the shutdown function jumping from the bottom of the login screen to the top of the desktop screen when we log in. Either the top of the screen is the accessibility-wise better place for these elements, in which case they should be there *during the login screen also*, or it isn't, in which case they shouldn't be there when we get to the desktop *either*. They shouldn't be in one place on one screen, in another place on another screen. I'm attaching a fancy little split-screen diagram of what I'm getting at, in addition to the stuff gathered by Apport. Sorry the picture uses my native language, I should have switched the VM's language prior to taking the screenshots. The shots are from an up-to-date Lucid, Apport's data is from my host which is running Karmic.
