[Bug 366065] Re: Places menu only allows 5 items before changing its behaviour
Sory, just looking into gnome-panel-2.28.0/debian/patches/71_change_bookmark_submenu_limit_value.patch Default value is 8 for Ubuntu 'karmic' at least. [Bug 485249] Re: [karmic] Battery fill level is off; system shutting down early
I have been having a very similar problem. The percentage full reported by gnome-power-manager was around 6-7% while the time remaining would be at a reasonable 2-3 hours. I also noticed that Energy when full was reported at 643 Wh (with Energy (design) at 50.2 Wh). I see a similar discrepancy in the DevkitPower.txt attached by the reporter: energy-full: 1357.04 Wh energy-full-design: 50.2 Wh I found this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=736347 -- david_edmundson advises the following for a similar symptom: It's a known hardware bug. Affects OS X too. The fix is listed on Apples website somewhere. Shutdown, take the battery out, and disconnect the mains. Then press and hold the power button for a while. Reassemble, and all will be good. I did this, and now the numbers reported by gnome-power-manager are reasonable. (energy-full at 51 Wh). What I quoted above states that this is a hardware bug, but I haven't gone any further to verify that. -- [karmic] Battery fill level is off; system shutting down early https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/485249 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 538982] Re: delete key doesn't do delete files or move to trash
Hi there. Sorry I didn't put those in the first time around... I have been playing around with this a bit more to try to come up with a 100% way of doing this. I've discovered the following generally exhibits the behaviour I'm talking about. Please note: I have mouse focus turned on. 1. Create a bunch of files and folders. Here is a quick one-liner bash script to do this easily: seq 1 5 | while read seqnce; do touch file$seqnce; mkdir folder$seqnce; done 2. Select the last file in the display (file5 if using the script I pasted above) 3. Delete this file using the delete key. Usually it will delete, sometimes it won't 4. Hit the down arrow on the keyboard to select the last file in the list again (this only works 100% when using the down arrow... sometimes it works when using the right arrow as well) 5. Attempt to delete the selected file ONCE. On my setup, the file is not deleted almost every time (almost... as in 4 / 5 times). Hitting delete a second time will remove the file. I have been experiencing this with mouse selection as well under various circumstances, but can't find a reliable way to reproduce it. ** Description changed: Binary package hint: nautilus The delete key does not appear to function in nautilus. [Bug 465464] Re: Gnome panels continuously crash, then reload
Ok. I set the panel back! --WITHOUT ADMIN PRIVILEGE-- I copied following folder contents from my other pc (where panel is still okay) to the notebook (before that I deleted folder-contents on the notebook): ~/.gconf/apps/gnome-settings/gnome-panel ~/.gconf/apps/panel Although I had differend screen resolution on my other pc it worked fine. When copying is done, I just had to power off reboot the laptop -- 4 seconds Powerbutton :-( Why did I not use sudo + ... in console? Two things: 1. xterm randomly looses focus (cause of panel-restarting), so I could not enter admin-password correctly (everything on STRG+ALT+7) 2. wasn't able to use the real console on STRG+ALT+1 (or 2,3,4,5,6), because I never see what I'm typing there. (Ony black screen, maybe wrong video-mode.) I hope Ubuntu 10.04 will be better. [Bug 530686] Re: Gtk-CRITICAL gtk_accel_map_unlock_path assertion in ~/.xsession-errors
Here it is. The assertion is in g_logv() from libglib-2.0.so.0, and I couldn’t find a dbgsym package for that one. However, I installed libgtk2.0-0-dbgsym=2.19.7-0ubuntu1 because I saw the calls to g_log come from there. Also, gnome-terminal-dbgsym is version 2.29.6-0ubuntu3 in case you want to look at the exact same versions. [Bug 537647] Re: weather applet crashes on logout
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 369525] Re: Use IEC standard for binary byte units
Bug 538783 is one issue where this caused trouble, and the patch is heavily debated upstream. Lucid after beta-1 is not the time for us to spend endless hours on debates like this, so I backed out this patch in glib. I propose that we just fix nautilus instead. [Bug 401497] Re: wrong keyboard layout after upgrade with autologin
Yes, I believe that all the issues described here are caused by gdm, which forces (in the gconf key) the first layout that it sees in console-setup. Please mark it as a duplicate of bug #460328. It'd be best if an ubiquity task was also registered in #460328, because the new ubiquity (tested with yesterday's live cd) doesn't offer a chance to select a layout in the live cd, so its devs should also be aware of the need for multiple layouts. -- wrong keyboard layout after upgrade with autologin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/401497 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thanks for your report. Within the user and password field, any :, @, or / must be encoded.' As a side note the specs also mentioned that the scheme http://user:password@host:port/ is not valid, but most apps (apt, wget, ...) accepts it and this behavior is documented in the apt.conf man page for example. @IsraeliHawk: I think that there are many themes that are designed with left aligned titles, and it would be best if metacity would support flipping them automatically to the right when using an RTL locale.
