[Bug 574241] [NEW] cdrom randomly fails to mount in Lucid
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gvfs My data discs randomly don't mount. A reboot seems to help, but not always. Eject also doesn't work correctly (it snaps shut immediately after opening after burning). Recently K3B reported that my cdrom could not be unmounted. I'm currently using Kubuntu Lucid, but I can confirm this occurs with Ubuntu Lucid. I purchased a USB external cd burner as a temporary solution and it appears to be uneffected by any symptom, so this might only apply to internal cd drives. [Bug 574253] [NEW] Power Management Preferences conflicts with screensaver preferences at sleep when inactive time
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager This bug can be regenerated b y setting the sleep time to a higher value than the screen saver time. It took me a while to actually find out that the reason my laptop was going to blank screen was from the screen saver and not from the power management. I kept on increasing the sleep time using power management, but nothing happened until I realized there is another variable being set by screensaver preferences. Users usually go to power management to set this value. Having another variable controlled by screensaver preferences is very confusing, especially when the default screensaver is blank screen. Ubuntu needs to synchronize these two processes. Recommendation: I strongly believe that Screensaver Preferences should be merged with Power Management Preferences. The new UI should clearly let the user know that his screen is going blank because Screensaver time is 10 minutes and the theme is blank screen. [Bug 574262] [NEW] Please backport to Karmic GDM fix for bug #463376
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm Hi, when time permits, could you please backport from Lucid to Karmic GDM's patch for bug #463376? The bug is about GDM's PostLogin/Default script. In Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) when you log in as, say, somename, you get proper values inside /etc/PostLogin/Default for these vars.: $USERNAME -- somename $LOGNAME -- somename $HOME -- /home/somename But in Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) you get instead these values: $USERNAME -- gdm $LOGNAME -- gdm $HOME -- /var/lib/gdm It seems that this is fixed in Ubuntu 10.04 too, but I haven't tested it yet. Having these vars. and others set up correctly for using them in the script /etc/PostSession/Default is badly needed for admins that want to clear $HOME upon login, for example in a shool computer lab (as is our case here). Bug #463376 is where the patch for Lucid was posted; bug #506972 is where the request to backport to Karmic was originally done by Manuel Iglesias. ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Please backport to Karmic GDM fix for bug #463376 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574262 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets
Same problem here after the upgrade from Karmic to Lucid. Sometimes I have 2 sound icons where one of the icons should have been nm-applet. Sometimes the area where the nm-applet icon should have been is empty, but the notification area is still sized as if there is an icon and if you aim correctly (there are one or 2 pixels shown) and right-click, you actually get the nm-applet menu. Removing the notification area and re-adding shows the correct icons again (but this will only last until the next reboot). What also seems to fix this issue is when you place the notification area more to the right. The configuration 'notification area|indicator applet|clock|indicator applet session' shows the behavior described in this bug-report, but when I rearrange it to 'indicator applet|notification area|clock|indicator applet session' the behavior seems correct and I don't experience this issue. This is a very annoying bug. Not being able to see a crucial icon as nm-applet, with which you control your wireless connections, will not help people to switch to Ubuntu and will not fix Ubuntu bug #1: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1 These kinds of bugs, how small they appear to be to an experienced user, are not helping Ubuntu becoming the Linux for Human Beings that it wants to be. -- visual corruption affecting several panel applets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 500417] Re: nautilus doesn't honor gnome theme
@Pedro - OK, perhaps this is a bug with gnome-settings-daemon, rather than Nautilus. I didn't mean to appear rude, but I am not a developer, so I'd don't know which it is (I'm just trying to be helpful, and to report bugs and get issues fixed). If this is a bug in gnome-settings- daemon, then I feel the bug should be passed on to somebody who deals with gnome-settings-daemon, rather than just being marked as invalid. @everybody - I'm still getting this bug on Lucid 10.04 final. It has happened with my own icon and GTK2.0 themes, and also with the default Lucid themes. @Willjcroz - yup, thats exactly what happens to me... @Ihotari - thanks for suggesting that workaround - I'll give it a try. -- nautilus doesn't honor gnome theme https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/500417 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 500417 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/500417 I think this bug is a duplicate of Bug 500417, so I hope I'm not breaking any rules if I mark this as a Duplicate (I apologise in advance if I am), but I think it would be useful to merge the discussions. [Bug 574288] [NEW] Existing Sent email does not respond to Apply Filters
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Scenario: Set up a outgoing mail filter based on an existing sent email using the recipient criteria. Create a new folder under Sent to receive the filtered email. Select All the Sent folder emails. Apply filters. The emails expected to be filtered stay in the Sent folder and have to be manually moved to the 'filtered' folder. HOWEVER all subsequent sent emails that match the filter criteria are correctly moved to the 'filtered' folder. Compare the above with setting up filters on incoming mail. If a filter is set up based on an existing incoming email then when Select All - Apply Filters is used the existing emails that match the filter criteria are correctly moved to the 'filtered' folder. ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Existing Sent email does not respond to Apply Filters https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574288 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I created a udisks package with udisks-tcp-bridge in my PPA: https://launchpad.net/~intgr/+archive/ppa This is my first time using a PPA, hopefully I did everything right. [Bug 500417] Re: nautilus doesn't honor gnome theme
@ Sebastien Bacher - Sir, I'm just seeking your wisdom on this bug - would you consider this to be a gnome-settings-daemon bug? Or should it be described in another way? Please can you advise.
