Maybe you should remove the .service file you added manually. Bug 525642 is fixed now, and manual tweaks like that can lead to problems. It's possible that gnome-keyring is started via D-Bus before the PAM module loads it, so it lacks the --login option that automatically unlocks the keyring. I would bet my money on buggy battery applet. For me the panel is messed up only when I have no battery charger connected and I boot with battery not fully charged. [Bug 368836] Re: gnome-panel freezes upon launching custom launchers
I think I may have this problem on 10.04LTS as well. To be honest, I don't know what 'custom application launchers are', but my gnome panel does freeze every time I start up. The main symptom I see is that the clock stops at whatever the time was when I logged in, but also, the network activity icon seems to be frozen on one of it's swirling images, even though the network is fully connected. Using 'killall gnome-panel' fixes this for me every time, but I have to do it on every boot. My assistive technologies option was disabled, so I enabled it, logged out/in, disabled it, logged out/in, then rebooted. After this, the problem still exists. I removed the ~/.gnome2 and ~/.gnome2_private directories and rebooted; this made no difference either. The desktop clock really is important to me. [Bug 585763] [NEW] gnome-panel partially blocks the window manager?
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel disclaimer: it is a weird bug and I am not sure gnome-panel really is the culprit here. On one of my 3 computers running lucid, I have a weird behavior which I first thought was due to compiz. It starts a while after login, usually as soon as I have 2 windows open. * I can not switch window using the task list * in fact, I can not open the application menu or click anywhere in the panel * I can not switch windows or desktop using keyboard shortcut * I can not use window buttons to close a window (or for anything else) * the alt-F4 shortcut does work * I can use the run dialog (alt-F2) to launch a terminal. Then killing the gnome-panel fixes the problem... untl I open another window The system is an intel quad core with an integrated intel GPU. As it had been upgraded from jaunty to karmic then lucid (following the development, not just stable upgrades), I first thought something went wrong in the upgrades but I still have it after a fresh install. Disabling compiz made it happen a bit less but metacity has the same problem. Restarting metacity doesn't change anything. Note: it may be similar to these bugs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/481053 but relogin didn't fix it for me https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libwnck/+bug/470604 I will test the proposed workarround, but unlike people commenting there, alt-tab is broken for me and it happens on 10.04. ** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gnome-panel partially blocks the window manager? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/585763 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets
@Chris: Will try what you have suggested and will report back. @Märt: The problems you have mentioned with the battery applet are actually two separate problems. The phantom icon is due to this bug. The incorrect battery charge information shown is a separate problem. It shows what upower reports. I have filed a separate bug report for that as bug #574756. I have experienced double battery icons in the default configuration of the icon's visibility: System, Preferences, Power Management, General, Notification Area, Only display an icon when charging or discharging. [Bug 574046] Re: [shares-admin] shares-admin doesn't see NFS and SMB installed

[Bug 508332] Re: facebook export (0.6.0.9) still broken
I can confirm the bug, i've got exactly the same problem. (same version: 0.6.0.9) Reproducable by - open F-Spot - activate plugin - reopen f-spot (just to be sure ;) ) - select a picture - export to - Facebook - confirm permission of F-Spot to upload pictures in Chrome - reopen the export window - export will hang at step Session Established, Fetching Albums... Did not found any workaround yet. Also tried to be logged on at Facebook in Firefox, Chrome etc. but still the same problem. I've got around 6 albums in facebook, not that much i think. -- facebook export (0.6.0.9) still broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/508332 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets
@Chris: Today I had messed panel again so I've tried your fixed. After relogin, panel asked it should remove clock applet. I said do it and then I put it back. [Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets
In my experience it depends from theme. I use the UBUNTU DAWN theme with MAC ICONS and long time I haven't seen this problem, but I re-logged into a different user with the default theme and suddenly the power button was broken... With my beloved settings it has never happened so far! For Märt Suga: Does it happen to u all the time booting like this. [Bug 584677] Re: ubuntu 10.04 will not update
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs.
