[Bug 536766] Re: Personal file sharing preferences dialog does not offer to install needed packages
I have some questions for the developer of gnome-share. So are we not going to be using Samba in the future to share files? Hi Doug, Thanks for helping with the tests. It is hard to get ultimate conclusions as you have a more complex setting with awn as well. I've encountered the same problem. I have Ubuntu 8.04 (yes, I will upgrade to 10.04 soon). The only application I was using at the time was Disk Usage Analyzer. So it seems the bug is not related to PS or PDF files as I have seen above. I've just noticed that evince-thumbnailer is taking 100% CPU usage. This is to confirm that the bug exists at least in Ubuntu 8.04 with all the upgrades until to this date (6th of June 2010). -- evince-thumbnailer with a 100% CPU usage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/384062 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project. -This is a bug and not a papercut For further information about papercuts criteria, please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut. [Bug 590327] [NEW] Empathy contact messages are messed up
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This is a really interesting one. 1.You can see in Screenshot.png that I point to a contact who has something like És az Isten békessége etc. written in her status. But the notification bubble has nothing. 2.In Screenshot-1.png you can see the result of pointing to the contact above her and then setting the pointer back to this first contact. The message of the second contact (e.g. Mire lehetel képes, ha etc.) is copied in the first contact's bubble. This doesn't happen with each one of my contacts in the list and it's not constrained to this one either, so it's weird. Any ideas? [Bug 590411] [NEW] Unmounting USB drive with Disk Mounter applet doesn't remove the device from /media
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-applets System Specs: Ubuntu release: 10.04 gnome-applets version: 2.30.0-0ubuntu2 STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. Add the Disk Mounter applet to a panel 2. Mount a USB drive to your computer 3. Click the drive on the applet, then select Unmount EXPECTED RESULTS 4. The drive is unmounted from your system 5. Running ls /media in a terminal confirms that the device is removed from your system ACTUAL RESULTS 4. The drive is unmounted from your system 5. Running ls /media in a terminal indicates that the device is in fact still attached to your system 6. Attempts at removing the drive via sudo through either a terminal or nautilus results in the return of an error stating Error removing file: Device or resource busy ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I've recently started noticing that when I mount my iriver E100 DMP it is mounted with an increasing number of underscores in the label. After finding Bug #101845 Automounted Volumes mount points change I opened /media in a sudo nautilus window to try to delete the E100 drive and all of the newer instances I was able to remove all of them with the exception of E100__, this morning's instance. When I try to delete it I get Error removing file: Device or resource busy, even with the device itself is no longer connected to my computer. When I reconnected my E100 to my system it mounted as /media/E100 so at least manually deleting the mount points allows me to get back to the proper identity. When I unmount the drive via nautilus the mount point is completely removed, so the issue seems to be in the applet itself. I believe the problem initially appeared after updating awn-applets- python-core-trunk to version 0.4.1~bzr1311-1.10.04 from the AWN Testing Team's PPA, although closing AWN does not allow me to manually remove E100__ either. ** Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Unmounting USB drive with Disk Mounter applet doesn't remove the device from /media https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/590411 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-applets in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 581843] Re: after upgrade from hardy, evolution does not display addresses
The contact edit fields in the Evolution UI don't seem to support the notion of preferred designations among field sets of the same type and I suspect that the underlying storage schema doesn't either. However this is no reason to mess up vcard imports with fields that have them. It should skip over them gracefully. [Bug 467668] Re: [regression-release] Neither compiz nor metacity nor nautilus are run at start
@Leo Yes, correct. My apologies, I misspoke. What I should have wrote is: What we can be relatively certain of now is that, at a minimum, something within the $HOME/.config folder is implicated as the source of the problem, and at a maximum the source does not extend beyond $HOME. I can say that I don't think that, at least in my case, it's limited to just .config and .compiz -- not long ago (albeit Karmic, not yet Lucid), I move .config, .compiz elsewhere, and also remove .cached, .gconfd, and a few other reasonable candidate cache / session type files/folders from console session (tty1) and then logged in again via gdm (tty7). No joy, still the same problems. Again, just FYI, in case it helps. I expect that, in my and more complicated cases, the solution may simply be to create a new, empty homedir, reconfigure all GUI components again manually, and then repopulate homedir with data and carefully repopulate other dotfiles and dotdirs (i.e., one at a time or in small groups) so as not to re-introduce the entanglement. Just not something that I have time to do right now and I am holding out hope that, once it's determined what the problem is within .config and/or .compiz, the information from that discovery might help me hunt down what's going on in my homedir. Right now, for me, the problem seems to be too much of a complex and complicated interaction. [Bug 580755] Re: Login screen locks up; mouse keyboard are disabled
I tried another idea: I thought that, since the lock-up occurs during the sign-on process, I could bypass that stage by changing login to log me in automatically. A little while after completing the boot menu, The message, as in comment #2 above, appeared (There is a problem with the configuration server. (/usr/lib/libconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256). I don't know whether the keyboard was locked at that stage, as when I pressed enter nothing seemed to happen for a while (I think that the OK button may have indicated a click; the message stayed on the screen for a fair while). But eventually it disappeared, the desktop was displayed. However, the mouse keyboard were locked, so I could not use the PC. [Bug 589012] Re: totem won't do progressive download for flv videos
It does the progressive download for me with the plugin. For what video? How do you know it's one in an FLV container? Totem's YouTube plugin does not, as far as I can tell, allow you to choose which format you get, except indirectly by setting your connection speed. I notice that when I set my connection speed to 512, it won't do progressive download on any of the videos I select, but when I set it to Intranet/LAN, it does. It picks fmt=5 (an FLV container) when set to 512, and fmt=18 (an mp4 container) when set to Intranet. As an example: the first URL is what I get in totem when I set my connection speed to intranet and do a youtube search for tron. The second is the first result when I set my connection speed to 512 Kbps. The only difference is the fmt=18 at the end. The first one buffers and plays almost instantly, while the second one does not. http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=-3ODe9mqoDEt =vjVQa1PpcFP9ODzDI-Q1VYwCgPGh86toYtHlHFGtGFg%3Dfmt=18 http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=-3ODe9mqoDEt=vjVQa1PpcFOK2hVl0QlGv6WQBgkJznali8MnU4_ZXxo%3D In any case, the bug is confirmed upstream. -- totem won't do progressive download for flv videos https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/589012 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 410407] Re: Clicking on items in Flash player does nothing [READ DESCRIPTION]
Couldn't we 'fix' this bug by implementing the nspluginwrapper / GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS workaround, and then open another bug to track the real issue. That would help most people in that they get a properly working flash plugin. BTW, the upstream bug report by Anders has a priority of None. How they can fail to see this issue eludes me. Also, it seems he didn't test on youtube or the link you provided, and I have noticed that some flash video players don't exhibit this problem, and the problem is not consistent even then (see my comment #61). -- Clicking on items in Flash player does nothing [READ DESCRIPTION] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410407 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to epiphany-browser in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
