After waiting for around half a minute, the page showed The error message was: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. [Bug 597551] Re: Places menu would be more practical if it shows the disk space and a remove button
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project. - This is a feature request and not a papercut. For further information about papercuts criteria, please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut. Don't worry though, this bug has been marked as Invalid only in the papercuts project. This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody experiencing it could send the bug the to the people writing the software. You can learn more about how to do this for various upstreams at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream. Once submitted upstream , do report back here with the upstream bug number. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm In Ubuntu 10.4 the Switch From ... option does not work, when I select that option it prompts me for my password and eventually puts up an error message as follows Unable to start new display The name org.gnome.DisplayManager was not provided by any .service files However I remain in the same account I started out in. To achieve the switch of users I have to log out and then log in as the other user. Bilal has responded to me (in Launchpad) that it looks like a Dbus bug and I should report it - which I have, Thiago then responded and said it must be a gdm or Ubuntu bug any takers? Thanks. [Bug 529696] Re: brasero can't copy audio cd (useless error message)
I don't mean to be offensive to anyone, my aim is to be constructive, this is the preamble...I wanted to say that I personally have solved the problem taking cdrdao ver. 1.23 from a puppy linux forum and brutally copying into /usr/bin; now brasero doesn't complain anymore that the plugin is old, and I've been able to copy a data cd with no problem. BUT let me say: THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! Don't get me wrong, but we can't have programmers that spend their precious time making a fancy cube rotate, AND THE DEFAULT BURNING APPLICATION DOESN'T COPY A CD! this bug (and there are many others duplicate) was opened in February! I am not a programmer, but I think that essential bugs like this MUST be solved in hours! You have to investigate WHY brasero complains, why it asks for the libraries? ok, but if giving it a new library solves the problem, then go for it! Tell Ubuntu maintainers to pull in this new cdrdao and everything works! Then you'll take your time to investigate, but in the meanwhile the newbie won't go back to windows because he can't copy a cd! You'll agree with me that bugs like this are frustrating, you go to your friend telling him to try this marvelous Linux that is ages forward his windows and when he tries to copy a cd he can't! Come on, it's not possible! Ubuntu is simple, it lets you do by default not tons of things, but they are essential things, at least these ones MUST be perfect. p.s.: I still haven't found a solution for the other bug (from my point of view essential too), the one that blanked dvds are not recognized by brasero (but are by gnomebaker, for example). -- brasero can't copy audio cd (useless error message) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/529696 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to brasero in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 112684] Re: F-Spot deletes temporary image files too early when sending mails
SRU Verification for Lucid: I have reproduced the problem with f-spot= 0.6.1.5-2ubuntu6 and have verified that the version of f-spot 0.6.1.5-2ubuntu7 in -proposed fixes the issue. [Bug 593226] Re: gnome panels suddenly have a 25 second delay after session load
Well, reading an old post I can reduce the time from 25/30 seconds to only 6 ! https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/128803 === Mitch Wiedemann wrote on 2007-10-31: #65 I was seeing very slow Gnome load times as well. After reading a misconfigured loopback comment above, I checked my network interface settings, and sure enough, I had configured a static IP address for my ethernet interface and the slow startup would happen only when I didn't have the ethernet cable plugged in. I mostly use my wireless interface, so I set the ethernet interface back to roaming and the problem was solved for me. So, I suspect the long load times are due to a network-manager timeout or something like that. === I checked my connections settings, and one of they have static IP...
