[Bug 580206] Re: gnome-help crashed (segmentation fault) while printing
Thanks. I have a problem. I run ./list-dbgsym-packages.sh -p `pidof gnome-help` -a -t and I received a long list of dbgsym packages. I passed that list to sudo apt-get install and I received back an error issue. I translate it from Italian to English (I hope to be able to): Some packages cannot be installed. ... The following packages have dependencies that cannot be satisfied: libgtk2.0-0-dbgsym: depends: libgtk2.0-0 (= 2.20.1-0ubuntu1) but 2.20.1-0ubuntu1renbag2 is being to be installed. Unfortunately, I cannot find any info about package 2.20.1-0ubuntu1renbag2. --- Then I tried ./list-dbgsym-packages.sh -p `pidof gnome-help` -t and I received another short list of 9 dbgsym packages. I passed the list to sudo apt-get install and I received back the SAME error for the same missing package. --- It seems that it is not so easy (for me at least, not a computer expert I mean) to debug this problem. Where am I wrong? Is there any problem about my /etc/apt/sources.list configuration? Please, help me ... thanks in advance. Drawing on straws here but: The sound-file used for incoming messages (message-new-instant.ogg) is extremely quiet (too quiet for my taste at least). [Bug 517021] Re: gvfsd-metadata causes 100% CPU usage
Yes, mucku Your solution worked in my laptop. It seems that ~/.local/share/gvfs- metadata/ folder contain metadata from network that I have connected with. The problems is, I only connected to those network once. Nautilus/gvfsd seems to crawl any network (specially samba network) when I'm connected to the network in my office and in some hotspot area. When I back home, gvfsd try to update the metadata by reopen the samba network folder that of course not exist in my home network. So, I suspect that this is the cause of gvfsd-metadata to taking whole CPU resource to try to find the 'missing' directory and read it's content to update the metadata. Deleting metadata files will make the gvfsd 'forget' those directories. -- gvfsd-metadata causes 100% CPU usage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/517021 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Empathy connections would continue when the VPN was connected, but on disconnecting the connection would appear to stay up (i.e. the client would appear to be logged in) but no further messages could be sent using the MSN protocol (at least as it's the only one I use). On 13 June 2010 19:31, Omer Akram om2...@ubuntu.com wrote: I dont know anything about VPN. Can you please explain it in simple words so that I could open an upstream bug report for this and also step to reproduce would be great. [Bug 401823] Re: Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead
Quick re-summary then. Karmic looks like it was fixed (although it only seems to be me that posted a confirmation.) Lucid says fix-released. I, and many others, are still seeing these warnings in lucid. So, fix doesn't work, can someone suitably qualified change the status back please, or state which symptoms they think are fixed, and I'll open a new bug for anything that isn't fixed. Flash *seems* to trigger it the most easily, although correlation is not causation. On my system Firefox without flash, and Chrome, and very occasionally other arbitrary GTK apps trigger it. ... and the bug is almost a year old. Oops. :-) Happy to help test anything if required. I have a new work laptop coming next week so I have an opportunity to test a totally fresh install with all current updates, will do so and report back. [Bug 513655] Re: every time fontconfig trigger is run, vte color scheme goes wrong in all my terminals
I am having a similar issue with gnome-terminal (2.29.6-ubuntu5 with libvte 1:0.23.5-0ubuntu1) on Lucid x86_32. It has actually been going on since at least Lucid alpha 3, and probably Karmic (I forget). System is completely up to date -- `apt-get dist-upgrade` every 2-3 days, with all repositories enabled including proposed backports. Sometimes when I run installs (apt-get dist-upgrade, but also some simple package installs), my gnome-terminal backgrounds flash from transparent to solid black. Steve reports his workaround as toggle from 'solid color' to 'background image' and back. I can similarly fix my issue by toggling from background image to solid color and back. This makes me think that LP#513655 was fixed by now forcing the terminal to solid color mode instead of whatever it was being forced to before. This fixes Steve's issue because solid color was the mode he _wanted_. For a proper fix, it needs to not be forced into any particular mode. -- every time fontconfig trigger is run, vte color scheme goes wrong in all my terminals https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513655 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets
Adding some further information and this is related to sacha's post. As mentioned before, I have seen this bug a lot (though less so recently) on my Lucid laptop after upgrading it from Karmic Lucid RC Lucid. That laptop has an nvidea graphics card and is running the Normal Visual Effects setting (hence is using Compiz?). I also have a desktop server that was running Hardy and I upgraded it to Lucid. I haven't seen this bug ever on the server when running Lucid. It has some awful builtin graphics chip and consequently has None selected in the Visual Effects setting on Appearance Preferences (hence isn't using Compiz?). The only issue with the server I have noticed is that the Sound Icon never appears (i.e. no way to control the volume other than starting Sound Preferences - I am using an Creative XiFi Extreme PCI Sound Card as there was no onboard sound - I guess this is why there is no icon). So, conclusions that can be drawn from this: - either Compiz is at fault, since the installation that doesn't use it isn't experiencing the issue. - or the Sound Icon is somehow at fault, since the installation that for whatever reason doesn't show it isn't experiencing the issue. -- visual corruption affecting several panel applets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

For my laptop, i've no problem with metacity since this morning and after 42 reboots test. With compiz, 2 reboots and... bug with de laptop on battery. On my desktop, without changes of the appearences of applets icons and without resizing area aplets, I have no bug at all with compiz. If i change appearence of network applet by switch off my router (for example, icon becomes wifi!), no problems at reboot. On my laptop, bug... There's also a link between this bug and laptop mode (energy saver, battery icon applet, etc.) ? [Bug 566207] Re: apparmor blocks evince from /usr/bin/dbus-launch
Based on Nikolus feedback, I am going to mark the AppArmor Lucid task as Won't Fix for now (since evince is starting and running ok, but is otherwise just noisy). If required, this can be reevaluated going forward. Upstream AppArmor and Maverick will use the following in the new dbus-session abstraction: #include abstractions/dbus /usr/bin/dbus-launch Pix, ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu Lucid) Importance: Medium = Low ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu Lucid) Status: Triaged = Won't Fix ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu Lucid) Milestone: lucid-updates = None ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu Maverick) Importance: Medium = Low ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu Lucid) Assignee: Jamie Strandboge (jdstrand) = (unassigned) -- apparmor blocks evince from /usr/bin/dbus-launch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/566207 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets
The same user had rebooted his laptop with metacity. With compiz, the bug was often (each 20 boots) on the aera applets (right corner high) and also with the desktop icon on the bottom panel at left (icon corrupted). With metacity, no bug appears on the top and on the bottom! He shall stay with this configuration for tests. What do you think about that? -- visual corruption affecting several panel applets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
