[Bug 563671] Re: TypeError in bbc plugin

2010-06-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package totem - 2.30.2-2ubuntu1

---
totem (2.30.2-2ubuntu1) maverick; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/70_bbc_plugin.patch:
- Fix crash in BBC plugin, thanks Sam Tygier (LP: #563671)
  * Merge with Debian unstable, remaining Ubuntu changes:
  * debian/control:
- Build-depend on gnome-common for autotools
- Don't build using libepc, galago those are in universe
- Don't use libtracker, the current version is not very useful and not
  something to recommend to users and totem requires a newer version
- Remove superfluous xulrunner-dev build-depend
- Build-depend on liblaunchpad-integration-dev
- Add Vcs-Bzr link
- totem-plugins doesn't depend on python-gdata since libgdata is used
  instead nowadays
- Add XB-Npp-Description and XB-Npp-Filename header to the
  totem-mozilla package to improve ubufox/ubuntu plugin db integration
- Change refences from Iceweasel to Firefox
- Split totem-plugins package in an extra package for the components
  which have depends in universe
- Use suggests rather than recommends for universe gstreamer components
- Add totem-plugins-extra package
  * debian/rules:
- Run autotools on build
  * debian/source_totem.py:
- Apport hook
  * debian/totem-common.gconf-defaults:
- Activate content retrieval plugins (BBC and YouTube) by default
  * debian/totem-common.install:
- Install apport hook
  * debian/totem-plugins-extra.install:
- Plugins split out ouf totem-plugins
  * debian/totem-plugins.install:
- Move some plugins to totem-plugins-extra
  * debian/totem.preinst:
- No longer required as Lucid has been released
  * debian/patches/02_lpi.patch:
- Launchpad integration
  * debian/patches/07_disable_web_browser_midi.patch:
- Karmic's version of gstreamer does not support MIDI over HTTP
  * debian/patches/70_bbc_plugin.patch:
- Updated from upstream bug report
  * debian/patches/90_autotools.patch:
- Not required, autotools run from debian/rules
  * debian/patches/91_git_correct_rgba_use.patch:
- git change to fix totem crashing with gtk csd
  * debian/watch:
- Watch for unstable versions

[Bug 594463] Re: Gnome Panel Freeze

2010-06-25 Thread vatbier
Pedro, thank you for your response.
But I don't understand it. The gnome-panel is frozen from the moment I log into
Gnome. Is a backtrace possible on a program that is already frozen? I thought a
backtrace only shows debugging code that happens after you run gdb.

[Bug 580206] Re: gnome-help crashed (segmentation fault) while printing

2010-06-25 Thread Cesare Mastroianni

Thanks.

I have a problem. I run ./list-dbgsym-packages.sh -p `pidof gnome-help`
-a -t and I received a long list of dbgsym packages. I passed that list
to sudo apt-get install and I received back an error issue. I
translate it from Italian to English (I hope to be able to):

Some packages cannot be installed. ... The following packages have
dependencies that cannot be satisfied: libgtk2.0-0-dbgsym: depends:
libgtk2.0-0 (= 2.20.1-0ubuntu1) but 2.20.1-0ubuntu1renbag2 is being to
be installed.

Unfortunately, I cannot find any info about package
2.20.1-0ubuntu1renbag2.

---

Then I tried ./list-dbgsym-packages.sh -p `pidof gnome-help` -t and I
received another short list of 9 dbgsym packages. I passed the list to
sudo apt-get install and I received back the SAME error for the same
missing package.

---

It seems that it is not so easy (for me at least, not a computer expert
I mean) to debug this problem. Where am I wrong? Is there any problem
about my /etc/apt/sources.list configuration?

Please, help me ... thanks in advance.

CM

While testing this with the automatic upgrade tester I found a bug in
the dpkg status parser for the non-interactive upgrade case. Its fixed
in bzr now but I will do a SRU for it because landscape (and possible
others) use the non-interactive upgrade mode.

[Bug 598391] [NEW] evince does not open eps files generated by gnuplot

2010-06-25 Thread zvaral
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

I am testing maverick.

Evince does not show eps files generated by gnuplot. It starts to open

[Bug 559532] Re: [lucid] empathy does not make any sounds when set to

2010-06-25 Thread Fabian P
Drawing on straws here but: The sound-file used for incoming messages
(message-new-instant.ogg) is extremely quiet (too quiet for my taste
at least). Even with alert volume at maximum I can barely hear it.
Maybe that's the same with you. So maybe try to use a sound-file, that's
louder?

The aforementioned message.ogg is only used for outgoing messages. I'm
not sure any more which of my first posted steps fixed it for me.

[Bug 517021] Re: gvfsd-metadata causes 100% CPU usage

2010-06-25 Thread Donny Kurnia
Yes, mucku

Your solution worked in my laptop. It seems that ~/.local/share/gvfs-
metadata/ folder contain metadata from network that I have connected
with. The problems is, I only connected to those network once.

Nautilus/gvfsd seems to crawl any network (specially samba network) when
I'm connected to the network in my office and in some hotspot area. When
I back home, gvfsd try to update the metadata by reopen the samba
network folder that of course not exist in my home network.

So, I suspect that this is the cause of gvfsd-metadata to taking whole
CPU resource to try to find the 'missing' directory and read it's
content to update the metadata. Deleting metadata files will make the
gvfsd 'forget' those directories.

applet (for example by opening rythmbox) and that i reboot in desktop
mode (with rj45 and ac adpatator), i've no bug. Idem when i reboot in
laptop mode (without rj45 and ac adaptator).

When a change occured in notification zone (rythmbox launched for
example), and that i reboot in laptop mode (without rj45 and ac
adaptator), the bug appears each time in laptop mode! No bug when i
reboot in desktop mode.

When i turn off compiz and i turn on metactiy, i have no bug at all!

Are you sure that a compiz bug is invalid?

I think that gnome cannot resize the panel or icons applets change with
compiz activated.

It's strange that i have no bug with metacity if compiz is innocent.

I'm thinking wrong?

[Bug 540280] Re: openssh (or gvfs) asks for a password everytime I change directory in sftp

2010-06-25 Thread Peter
Hi,

I'm using the stable Version of Ubuntu 10.04 (64 Bit). After a new
install of the system with all updates, the above-mentioned problem
appears in nautilus with gvfs. This is a link to the screenshot of the
abnormal window, which asks for the ssh-password, everytime the ssh-
adress changes or the folder is reloaded: http://www.ubuntu-
pics.de/bild/89746/test_g6yETn.png - even when the never forget the
password option is chosen.

I hope the problem can be solved here.

Best regards from germany,
Peter

[Bug 559532] Re: empathy does not make any sounds when set to

No that's not it. Sending and receiving messages, connecting,
disconnecting... all of the sound options are set in empathy and still
nothing, even unchecked the disable sounds while busy or away - and
still nothing. The volume level of message-new-instant.ogg seems fine on

no difference. The sounds simply are not being played.

Re: [Bug 566572] Re: empathy doesn't appear to reconnect after VPN disconnection

2010-06-25 Thread Damien Mead-Smith
Sadly, I can no longer test this issue as VPN no longer works for me.
Previously however I was connecting to a VPN using the ubuntu network icon.
Empathy connections would continue when the VPN was connected, but on
disconnecting the connection would appear to stay up (i.e. the client would
appear to be logged in) but no further messages could be sent using the MSN
protocol (at least as it's the only one I use).

[Bug 401823] Re: Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead

2010-06-25 Thread Zack Evans
Quick re-summary then.

Karmic looks like it was fixed (although it only seems to be me that
posted a confirmation.)

Lucid says fix-released. I, and many others, are still seeing these
warnings in lucid. So, fix doesn't work, can someone suitably
qualified change the status back please, or state which symptoms they
think are fixed, and I'll open a new bug for anything that isn't fixed.

Flash *seems* to trigger it the most easily, although correlation is not
causation.
On my system Firefox without flash, and Chrome, and very occasionally other
arbitrary GTK apps trigger it.

... and the bug is almost a year old. Oops. :-) Happy to help test
anything if required.

I have a new work laptop coming next week so I have an opportunity to
test a totally fresh install with all current updates, will do so and
report back.

Could I ask no-one else posts confirmations for now, we've got about 50
of those above already...

[Bug 513655] Re: every time fontconfig trigger is run, vte color scheme goes wrong in all my terminals

2010-06-25 Thread Bela Lubkin
I am having a similar issue with gnome-terminal (2.29.6-ubuntu5 with
libvte 1:0.23.5-0ubuntu1) on Lucid x86_32. It has actually been going
on since at least Lucid alpha 3, and probably Karmic (I forget). System
is completely up to date -- `apt-get dist-upgrade` every 2-3 days, with
all repositories enabled including proposed backports.

Sometimes when I run installs (apt-get dist-upgrade, but also some
simple package installs), my gnome-terminal backgrounds flash from
transparent to solid black.

Steve reports his workaround as toggle from 'solid color' to
'background image' and back.

I can similarly fix my issue by toggling from background image to solid
color and back.

This makes me think that LP#513655 was fixed by now forcing the
terminal to solid color mode instead of whatever it was being forced to
before. This fixes Steve's issue because solid color was the mode he
_wanted_. For a proper fix, it needs to not be forced into any
particular mode.

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-06-25 Thread rupert
Adding some further information and this is related to sacha's post.

As mentioned before, I have seen this bug a lot (though less so
recently) on my Lucid laptop after upgrading it from Karmic Lucid RC
Lucid. That laptop has an nvidea graphics card and is running the Normal
Visual Effects setting (hence is using Compiz?).

I also have a desktop server that was running Hardy and I upgraded it to
Lucid. I haven't seen this bug ever on the server when running Lucid. It
has some awful builtin graphics chip and consequently has None selected
in the Visual Effects setting on Appearance Preferences (hence isn't
using Compiz?).

The only issue with the server I have noticed is that the Sound Icon
never appears (i.e. no way to control the volume other than starting
Sound Preferences - I am using an Creative XiFi Extreme PCI Sound Card
as there was no onboard sound - I guess this is why there is no icon).

So, conclusions that can be drawn from this:

- either Compiz is at fault, since the installation that doesn't use it isn't
experiencing the issue.
- or the Sound Icon is somehow at fault, since the installation that for
whatever reason doesn't show it isn't experiencing the issue.

I ran into this problem today, however my first cd copy worked fine,

however the following packages were installed from before the third
attempt failed:

[Bug 408417] Re: No option to log in remotely via XDMCP

2010-06-25 Thread Brunod
Back here because even with Terminal Server Client, it doesn't work.
You need xnest package to enable xdmcp in protocol menu from Terminal Server
Client.
But the most frustrating is that it starts, works 30 sec to login and then
kicks you out (using a server that runs xdmcp fine with Hardy).
Error message :
X error of failed request: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)
Major opcode of failed request : 70 (X_PolyFillRectangle)
Resource id in failed request: 0x0

The first error message reported missing cyrillic fonts, but has been
corrected by adding xfonts-cyrillic. It's quite funny because i don't
use cyrillic fonts...

Pleassse solve thisss

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-06-25 Thread sa...@ubuntu
A member of ubuntu-fr community have another problem with this bug.

He uses compiz normal effect and default theme Ambiance on laptop
too.

He tried to test with metacity.

When he turns off compiz, no difference. When he reactivates compiz, the
two panels disapear both.

There's a link between compiz and panels for this bug?

For my laptop, i've no problem with metacity since this morning and
after 42 reboots test. With compiz, 2 reboots and... bug with de laptop
on battery.

On my desktop, without changes of the appearences of applets icons and
without resizing area aplets, I have no bug at all with compiz. If i
change appearence of network applet by switch off my router (for
example, icon becomes wifi!), no problems at reboot. On my laptop,
bug...

There's also a link between this bug and laptop mode (energy saver,
battery icon applet, etc.) ?

I think it's significant!

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-06-25 Thread sa...@ubuntu
The same user had rebooted his laptop with metacity. With compiz, the
bug was often (each 20 boots) on the aera applets (right corner high)
and also with the desktop icon on the bottom panel at left (icon
corrupted).

With metacity, no bug appears on the top and on the bottom!

He shall stay with this configuration for tests.
