[Bug 598966] [NEW] Evolution/Davical: Appointments are 2 hours longer than anticipated
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I'm using the Davical CalDAV server on my internet server with Ubuntu 8.04 LTS. The clients are running Ubuntu 10.04. When creating a new appointment in Evolution on that CalDAV server, everything is displayed fine in Evolution. But switching to another CalDAV client (seems to be no matter which; I tried the iPhone, Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Sunbird and Spicebird Beta), all appointments originally created in Evolution gain 2 hours in duration. Events created with other clients are displayed correctly. Interestingly Evolution does display all events with their correct duration. Modifying an appointment originally created by Evolution with another client to adjust the appointments length (shorten by two hours) leads to a correct appointment length in ALL clients (including Evolution, which doesn't change the length at all). All systems are running in UTC timezone, the user interface is set to Europe/Berlin. I'm not completely sure, whether this affects Evolutions behavior or not, because the events' starting time is correctly displayed in all clients, its the duration that changes. Do you have any suggestions? ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Evolution/Davical: Appointments are 2 hours longer than anticipated https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/598966 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 272083] Re: Zenity windows appear underneath others
My version of zenity is also 2.30.0, i mistyped it before, cause i was testing it on 9.10 too. Lately i realised that this behavior is a matter of the window manager. Running zenity from a terminal, its window doesn't go to the top in Gnome when i have other window active. It does, when running it by clicking on an icon. So the wm probably prevents the popups getting focus that are run from an inactive terminal. This is not an issue with Xfce's wm or other wm though that i tested on the same system. So it's probably the way metacity behaves by default. I tried to set the focus from smart to strict as the only option here with gconf-editor in /apps/metacity/general/focus_new_windows, but it doesn't help either. Seeing that the file /usr/share/zenity/zenity.ui has all its focus settings set to True by default (what the patch did provided in upper comments), i might say that it's not a zenity problem anymore, and it depends on the focus policy of the wm. -- Zenity windows appear underneath others https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/272083 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 214370] Re: Logout/Shutdown Sound Not Working
Nelux it works but it's not the optimal solution, it doesn't allow you to change the logout sound or the sound theme unless you manually modify your scripts or name your new sound theme ubuntu and move or erase the original one. The clean way would be to execute /usr/share/gnome/shutdown/libcanberra- logout-sound.sh, but when the scripts in PostSession or init.d are executed everything Gnome is already killed, including canberra. There is no way in Gnome to execute a script BEFORE Gnome itself logs out and kills everything, that is the problem, the code does not exist (it does exist and work in KDE though). The script for the logout sound is already there, it's the one I mentioned above, but nothing calls it. That is a long standing upstream bug but nobody can be bothered to write the code. Incidentally, for the same reason, you cannot execute anything upon logout in Ubuntu, only AFTER logout, and probably only as root. -- Logout/Shutdown Sound Not Working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214370 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 16492] Re: Mouse pointer should disappear when keyboard is in use and mouse isn't
Matthew Paul Thomas: To solve the GIMP-issue you experience you can use the -not switch, which could exclude GIMP from unclutters handling. As for your two other examples you're right that there is no way to decide the timeout value within every specific program or in the detailed manner you wish (when in field x in program y then hide mouse after time z) by using unclutter.). The two cases that you mention beside the GIMP one are _already_ a fact in Ubuntu: They are not the result of unclutter. While unclutter doesn't do the micro-management and is indeed a crude solution when put in your light nothing/very little seems to be worse off by inlcuding it in the OS if the options are a) should we have no solution or b) should we have a semi-solution? What I'm personally afraid of is if nobody would work on a real (i.e. more advanced, in the lines of what you seem to request yourself) solution on this if indeed unclutter is included. Thus unclutter, a temporary fix, could end up giving much less incentive to create a real and more full solution of the problem(s) at hand. -- Mouse pointer should disappear when keyboard is in use and mouse isn't https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/16492 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 599050] Re: Cant change username
Thanks for your report. Usually, reporting two very close issues is not a good idea because they are likely to be related. In your case, authentication failure is probably the cause of both. Please run 'users-admin' from a console and post the output here. Also, please run /usr/lib/policykit-1-gnome/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 and retry. I don't know how LXDE works, but I'm not sure at all users-admin is supposed to work there. Maybe it doesn't start the authentication tool to save some RAM. [Bug 574693] Re: nautilus ftp file transfer hangs in lucid
Hi. I can reproduce this hang too. In fact, I first experienced it in 9.04 and reported it. But in 10.04 it is even worse! At least in 9.04 it was possible to kill the Nautilus process and stop the file transfer; now I cannot stop it. Nautilus becomes a Zombie process. Unplugging my LAN cable stopped it...until I plugged it back in again. I do not understand why this fault does not have a HIGH priority. I would have expected any OS problem that requires a reboot to fix would be unacceptable to the Ubuntu developers. My situation is a 10.04 Desktop 64-bit client with a OpenVPN tun tunnel to a 10.04 Server. I use the Places menu to create an SSH connection to the server and get a file browser window. I then drag and drop a 160MB CD iso file on to the server browser window. The File copy window appears but starts off with its progress bar 2/3 complete and remains there. The file transfer actually starts up and data is transferred over the LAN (as shown by System Monitor). But at the far end (viewed using a separate SSH terminal login) the file size seems to be way to big from the start and doesn't change. Nothing happens when I click the red X on the transfer window or try to close it. Killing the Nautilus process does not stop it and the process is shown as zombie. I could not kill the vsftp process on the server (I assume this is the receiving process). I could find no way of stopping the determined LAN activity without restarting. Even then, the restart froze up during theboot and I had to pull the plug and start over. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM for those of us managing remote servers and trying to do large file transfers. [Bug 122602] Re: Duplicated entries in Places Menu
the bug (or variation of it) still exists in Lucid. i have placed several records in fstab that connect me to samba shares. Some of those mounted samba shares are displayed two times in Places. Strange thing: everytime one of the two links is working and the other is not (when i click it, it says that the share is not connected). screenshot taken from nautilus, but it contains same content as Places. you can see that: 1) server_media and server_raigedas.info (which are actually connected) are shown two times - one as connected (with eject button) and others as disconnected. 2) om (which is actually not connected) shown only one time. 3) server_rgd (which is actually connected) shown only one time. therefore the conclusion is that connection state of the share does not relate with the bug. ** Attachment added: duplicates.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/50995333/duplicates.png -- Duplicated entries in Places Menu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/122602 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
