[Bug 363363] Re: Keyboard Layout Key(s) to change layout doesn't work

2010-07-31 Thread Ilgaar
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 251443 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/251443

The Keyboard Layout Key change doesn't work PROPERLY.

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04. The default Alt+Alt keys to change the keyboard
layout acts very strange. It is very odd, when these keys are hit both
at the same time it usually changes the keyboard layout from the
secondary to primary but not from the main one to the second keyboard
layout. So on must always use the mouse to change the keyboard layout to
the main one. I don't know what causes this problem. but it is really
annoying.

[Bug 408417] Re: No option to log in remotely via XDMCP

2010-07-31 Thread Brunod
Back here to see if there is any improvement... Sadly not !
I was going as slow as possible to keep my hardy's before switching to lucid
when this would be solved.
Now it's coming to dead line...
I just want to point out that if any lambda user may/can switch from one
version to the next one every 6 months, it's not the same in professional use.
I can not offer myself to spend hours to do this every 6 months ! And my boss
wouldn't agree at all. So maybe the profile of the users switching from one
version to the other (for fun or to be at the edge) is different than the ones
jumping from LTS to LTS. But Ubuntu is no more a geek toy. If it is running at
my office, it because it's stable, insensitive to viruses and other shits and
most of all because i can count on it no matter what happens.
So for this lucid LTS, upgrading gdm was needed because the older one was no
more supported. But upgrading to something that doesn't do anymore what it
supposed to do, is like shooting a bullet in own foot : it's not running
anymore after upgrade ! So i would have prefered to keep hardy longer.
But now, according to ubuntu's logic for including packets in already released
versions, even if a new version of gdm comes out, will it be integrated into
Lucid LTS ? Or do we have to keep an eye on it to force this inclusion if it
ever comes out for maverick ?

[Bug 610422] Re: Nautilus has 100% CPU Usage since Kernel Upgrade in Lucid

2010-07-31 Thread locust
Hi, all
this very boring bug affects me too.

Same lucid-amd64 (on 32 bit version on other machine did'nt happen) kernel
2.6.31-15-generic, nvidia
nVidia Corporation G86 [GeForce 8400M GS] (rev a1), NVIDIA Driver Version
195.36.24

On my computer seems related more with Xorg or virtualfs than the version of
the kernel .
Actually it comes on very often logging in a user with an encripted (luks)
homedir.
Few days ago, after an upgrade regarding gnome libs too, seemed going better
(minor frequence) but now i get it again.
Lately it appeared using an old game dosbox (xorg jammed and soon xorg e
nautilus cpu-usage rocketed up an finally i get a 103% cpu usage for nautilus)
.
When it happens make computer really useles and stays so endless and i have to
reboot.

wich kind of log may I send to help debugging?
Many thanks in advance for your attention
David

[Bug 611983] [NEW] Evolution [Open Link In Browser] not working for new eBay email hyperlinks

2010-07-31 Thread Andy Mallett
Public bug reported:

I am running the following - Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 + Firefox 3.6.8 +
Evolution 2.28.3

On the 26th July 2010, eBay (in their wisdom !) changed the structure of
their notification emails, unfortunately since this change I have been
unable (in Evolution mail) to click on the hyperlinks back to the eBay
website without the resulting eBay web page showing a variety of errors.

Before this issue arose, the eBay email hyperlinks had the structure such as -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemitem=290457755810ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:1123
and Evolution still opens these links correctly.

After the eBay change the links look like -

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/e11021.m45.l1123/7?euid=5352848142992251064loc=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.co.uk%2Fws%2FeBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D150472423977%26ssPageName%3DADME%3AB%3ASS%3AGB%3A1123

-now if within Evolution I hover over the hyperlink and select [Copy
Link Location], then paste the result in Firefox, then I get the result
I would expect.

HOWEVER if in the same link I try to either [Open Link In Browser], or
simply double clicking the mouse to open the link into Firefox, then the
URL that Firefox receives looks like -

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/e11021.m45.l1123/7?euid=5352848142992251064loc=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemitem=150472423977ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:1123

- which turns out to be invalid !

What can I do to get Evolution to send the correct form of the URL to Firefox ?
- or is this an Evolution bug.

There has been a short discussion on the possible cause of this problem here -
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+question/119395

and the proposed solution from that link says -

I see your problem now. Seems that evolution is decoding the escape codes (%3A,
%2F, etc) that are present in the original URL, but the application on eBay
needs those escape codes intact.

Maybe it is an Evolution bug, as it should not alter the URL while
sending it to Firefox.

I checked the evolution source code:

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/e/evolution/evolution_2.28.3.orig.tar.gz

Inside e-util/e-util.c file, there is a function e_show_uri(). Before it
passes the URL to Firefox, it removes the escape codes by calling
camel_url_decode():

  http://library.gnome.org/devel/camel/stable/camel-camel-url.html
#camel-url-decode

So I think you really should open an evolution bug and see if anyone can come
with an explanation for this behavior.

[Bug 501207] Re: sound-juicer, rhythmbox, nautilus crash at audio CD insertion

2010-07-31 Thread Adrian
I finally got around to applying Paul's patch and building some .debs.
There still seems to be a delay when libbrasero apps startup, but they
don't seem to crash anymore. Sound-juicer Nautilus, and Rhythmbox work,
for example. You can download the patched version at
http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~adrianb/ubuntu/

Sorry, only the 64-bit version for now.

Hi, a last add-on
when this bug occurs i have always also a window with gnome-terminal open an a
firefox (a-browser) too.
The latter (very crappy ) one often suffers in execution of hidden scripts that
I suspect may be related with this behavior.
when overhelming usage (cpu or memory, see later) issue occurs disk remain
always furiously spinning.
In the last event cpu-usage was low but memory usage veri high more than 90%
(as top states).
Again, kind regards

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-07-31 Thread Michael Nagel
I removed the lower panel and I am still having trouble with this bug. I doubt
that the number of panels is connected to the cause of the bug, because both
people with one and people with two panels experience the bug.
I think it is possible that the number of panels has some influence on internal
timings. And because delaying the creation of the panels seems to change a lot
(according to some comments above) I think there might be some timing issue /
race condition.

CCing Stefan Kost since his idea of switching to a mpg123 gstreamer-

I contacted Roland Poppenreiter by mail and directed him to the upstream

that it works with a newer GStreamer version. Maybe somebody with a

[Bug 611972] [NEW] [maverick] changing Gnome theme preset does not change window border

2010-07-31 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When changing the theme preset on the initial tab of gnome-appearance-
properties, the window border no longer changes along with all the other
settings. A consequence of this is that one must manually click
Customise / Window Border and change the window border theme manually.

Also, along with this, when clicking a theme, selection shifts to
Custom before you change the window border as well because the window
border must change too for the theme to be fully changed.

This problem does not occur when using Metacity; only when running
Compiz.

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-07-31 Thread Dante
I have one panel (with Docky). Considering the recent slew of updates to
GNOME panel, I only experience corruption once/twice a month. I almost
always experience it the first three times I boot up a newly installed
Ubuntu box.

My other computer has the same setup, and visual corruption does not
affect it, but the applets seem to move around a lot.

This has always happened on both machines if I leave it with the default

[Bug 612076] [NEW] file operations window hangs after completion of file transfer to FAT file system from ext4 file system

2010-07-31 Thread wallpaper_thief
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

In lucid file transfer windows stay open and show an incomplete transfer
process, even when checking the source file and target filereveals the
operation finished successfully. Eventually, the window goes away, but
sometimes takes several minutes. This last time it took about 12 minutes
for it to go away, and waiting 12 minutes after a file transfer is
completed is unacceptable.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04

[Bug 579685] Re: unable to get stream from http://www.fs.fed.us/outdoors/naturewatch/eaglecam.html

2010-07-31 Thread madbiologist
@NoBugs! - The green video is a known issue on Lucid - see comment 19
(in the context of comment 1). It works with updated gstreamer packages
- see comment 25.

I've just tested it on Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat alpha2, updated
to the latest gstreamer packages (without any PPA's) and can report that
it works!

Uname: Linux 2.6.35-6-generic i686
Package Versions: totem 2.30.2-2ubuntu2
  libgstreamer0.10-0 0.10.30-1
  gstreamer0.10-plugins-base 0.10.30-1
  gstreamer0.10-plugins-good 0.10.24-1ubuntu1
  gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse
0.10.18-0ubuntu1
  gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly 0.10.15-1
  gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg 0.10.11-1

Opening the webpage
http://www.fs.fed.us/outdoors/naturewatch/eaglecam.html mentioned in the
original bug description is still giving the error originally reported.

[Bug 609089] Re: xkill kills all gnome-terminal instances

2010-07-31 Thread Dave Gilbert
Hi Willem,
Yep, feature not a bug! It's not unique to gnome-terminal; most apps these
days use a single instance for multiple windows,
indeed there have been a few apps that have been doing it for many years.

In many ways the problem is that xkill is too simple. The force quit shouldn't
happen unless the app is misbehaving and hence
well that's an app bug that you need a force quit (normally, unless you have a
device/mount problem).
It's possible that it might be possible to make a smarter xkill, something that
just tries to close the window less invasively, and only if that doesn't work
then resort to the kill.

Dave

[Bug 164986] Re: It can only have one music library

2010-07-31 Thread Šimánek
Somehow I inadvertently set both ~/Music and a network folder of music
for the source of my library. I can't correct this from the Rhythmbox
preferences, it always states 'Multiple locations set'. I also went into
gconf-editor in attempt to delete the one unwanted library location,
only the change won't keep. Every time I restart Rhythmbox the settings
stay the same and the gconf file is changed back to the way it was prior
to my editing. If these settings don't exist in the gconf file, where
are they being saved?

2010-07-31 Thread Rolf Leggewie
let me seize the opportunity to give a status update on what I've done
and know about. Others are always welcome to help, but unless you can
code or package, there currently is nothing you can do. Any comment not
related to packaging or coding is STRONGLY discouraged (yes, I'm looking
at you pryguy, have you even bothered to read this ticket?).

Next step in my opinion is to package libnatspec. Andrew and I are
making good progress, albeit slowly: http://git.debian.org/?p=collab-
maint/libnatspec.git I think the package is almost ready to be released
to Debian (and possibly maverick). Please refer to the git repository
to see where we are. Suggestions on that package welcome.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this
bug as a bug in 'gnome-menus'. If you believe that I have chosen the
wrong package, please change your bug to the correct one. Also I've
noticed than some of the sentences in this bug report are not in
English. If they were translated to English they'd be more accesible to
more triagers. Could you please translated them?

[Bug 580947] Re: Toolbox not represented in task bar

2010-07-31 Thread Ted
Thanks for reporting this bug and helping make Kubuntu better!

Could you install GNOME (install the package ubuntu-desktop) and try to
reproduce the bug there? That will tell us if this is a bug in GIMP, or
a bug in a KDE package.

** Changed in: gimp (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Incomplete

[Bug 587387] Re: Weather Report applet no longer retreives forecast at my location (Melbourne, Australia)

2010-07-31 Thread Glenn Moloney
I haven't been able to find out where to change / modify lookup settings
either. It would be nice if some of this info was published (or directed
where the info is) so we could make the changes ourselves. I hope the
developers for the applet are listening?

[Bug 607860] Re: Can't add to existing Facebook album

Same here, same version. Extension is version 0.7.0.0

f-spot --debug didn't reveal anything of interest.
