[Bug 627704] Re: Location Missing at Clock 2.30.2 applet

2010-09-10 Thread David Planella
Thanks for reporting this bug. It is, however not a translations-related
bug, so I'm reassigining it to a more suitable project and package.

Could you please add some more detail to the bug? Could you add the
location in previous Ubuntu versions and now not anymore?

If this is the case, this might need to be reported upstream.

[Bug 633848] Re: GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_format_get_name: assertion `format != NULL' failed

2010-09-10 Thread Oedipe
Here, i can see that error in my xsession-errors file, for gnome-
settings-daemon, at each boot/reboot. (first error appearing in the
file, mentionned twice)

(gnome-settings-daemon:1606): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **:
gdk_pixbuf_format_get_name: assertion `format != NULL' failed
(gnome-settings-daemon:1606): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **:
gdk_pixbuf_format_get_name: assertion `format != NULL' failed

The refresh of my screen takes very long time and becames completely
sluggish. Seems for me critical as my laptop is quite unusable since.

[Bug 633813] Re: unable to select different alert sounds with sound preferences

2010-09-10 Thread Bill Smith
The bug has been reproducible on my computer, all one needs to do is
click on the sound icon in the system tray in the top right handside of
the Ubuntu GUI then click sound preferences. From there on the first
tab, there is a sub screen that allows you to change the default alert
sound for Ubuntu, there are 5 radio bubbles that indicate sounds which
one can choose. I can highlight other options and hear the preview
sound, but if I try to click the bubble, it will not fill and I am
unable to change the alert sound.

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-09-10 Thread sa...@ubuntu
Hello,

Since the panels are locked completely with Ubuntu tweak or in gconf
editor, the bug comes back with a network manager applet half broken and
the display for the virtuals desktops appears blank in the left corner
of the bottom panel, just before the trash applet (just one of two
milimeters visible and the rest is blank).

If i desactivate the lock of panels, that's works with no problem. This
problem appears only with compiz and no with metacity.

Strange, no?

[Bug 634778] [NEW] Pre-configure Rhythmbox with Ubuntu Free Culture Showcase podcast

2010-09-10 Thread Christian Giordano
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

We would like the user to enjoy the goodies of the free world as soon as
they install or update Ubuntu. For this reason we would like Rhythmbox
podcast list to be pre-populated with one containing a selection of the
submission to the Ubuntu Free Culture Showcase. This would be also a
great opportunity to reward those artists and advertise this campaign
which runs every year.

The url of the podcast still have to be defined but we would like to
know first of all an estimation of the amount of work required for both
fresh install and update.

Thanks a lot for the cooperation!

[Bug 634781] [NEW] Error: DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply

2010-09-10 Thread Murray Cumming
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gvfs

I use an scp/ssh folder quite often in Nautilus. But I find that it
stops working after about 10 opens of folders. After a delay of around 2
minutes, I generally see an error dialog with this text:

Could not display sftp://murrayc@secretdontwanttosay.

Error: DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply.
Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the
message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or
the network connection was broken.
Please select another viewer and try again.

I can fix this by logging out and back in again, though I'd like an
easier workaround.

[Bug 583271] Re: The value of Energy when full is much higher than the value of Energy (design) so the percentage calculation is wrong

2010-09-10 Thread julenissen
This is not the same as bug 467825. I'm also experiencing it on my
thinkpad x201.

Energy 49.8 Wh
Energy when full 601.9 Wh
Energy (design) 60.7 Wh

As you can see it knows how much power you've got. But the result is
that i have 10% on my battery, giving me 2h35 of uptime. Which is all
wrong. In reality i have about 70-80%, giving me 2h35 uptime.

This is fixed by a reboot. Happens a lot after suspend. Tell me if you
need anything else.

[Bug 209532] Re: Accessibility keyboard settings get lost

2010-09-10 Thread davidr
Hi
Please could the developers include Caps On / Caps Off, Shift /Shift lock and
Numlock On/Numlock Off - these are modifier keys too.

I raised this some time ago but nobody made a comment. For those of us
without keyboard lights or sight impediments, the status of these keys
is important. E.g. I want to kn ow when I press either if I am
activating it or releasing it.

Shift - tone A
Shift lock - tone B
Shift unlock - tone A

Num Lock on - tone B
Num lock off - tone A

Caps lock on - tone B
Caps lock off - tone A

IMHO This should not be considered a feature request - it falls within
key modifier.

Assistive technologies are too important to be taking all these years to
work properly.

Regards
David

[Bug 624642] Re: Brasero instead of blanking, destroy DVD-RW

2010-09-10 Thread jonie
Isn't it a duplicate of bug 581925? I suppose that media is properly
blanked (or rather there are a couple of sectors at the beginning of
disc to be zeroed) but it cannot be detected afterwards.

Can you paste the output of /lib/udev/cdrom_id --debug /dev/sr0 with the
damaged media inside.

Is this happening only for DVD+RW or DVD-RW 13h (restricted overwrite)?

If so please mark it as duplicate.

You may also test udev package from
https://launchpad.net/~jonie/+archive/ppa and see if the damaged media
could now be detected.

2010-09-10 Thread Karl Lattimer
If you're seeing a black square then the code is working, the problem
therefore will be in the filenames.

Can you check the gnome screensaver login dialog and see if the icons
appear there.

Unfortunately I'm away from home right now so I can't do any testing
myself, will look into it further with you on monday if you'd like.

[Bug 367623] Re: Internal GStreamer Problem; file a bug

2010-09-10 Thread Blindulo
Hi there.

I'm on Lucid (10.4 LTS) and also running RythmBox 0.12.8, I have no idea
which version of Gstreamer I'm using but I have a receipt for recreating
the bug.

download this torrent: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4899523
/Green_Day_-_Discography__All_Albums (it has a lot of songs without
artist and album infos) ... import them to RythmBox ... and as they show
up in the unknown artist mark them and indicate Green day as artist
... this gives error boxes abundant ... some say: Error while saving
song information - Internal GStreamer problem; file a bug some
say:Error while saving song information - Unable to create tag-writing
elements

I hope this helps - I'll find another discography as the work of
rearanging all is too much for lacy little me :) ... enjoy the work ;)

[Bug 634837] [NEW] VLC seems to open twice when I click on DVD iso image

2010-09-10 Thread csy33delight
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Fresh install of Lucid 10.4.1 - Here is my cheat sheet for setting up
VLC:

sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/vlc.desktop

Change Exec=vlc %U to

  Exec=vlc --vout-filter deinterlace --deinterlace-mode blend
--volume 1024 --fullscreen %U

Synaptic Package Manager- mozilla-plugin-vlc

Synaptic Package Manager- libdvdcss2

File Browser - Edit - Preferences - Media

DVD Video: Open VLC media player

sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/defaults.list

 Replace all totem with vlc

Right-click an iso movie file - Properties - Open With

 Select VLC media player

In Karmic, when I double click a DVD iso image, the movie starts full screen
immediately. In Lucid, it appears that VLC starts the movie full screen, then
it quickly disappears, the VLC program window shows up for a brief second, then
the movie starts full screen and plays normally. A small annoyance that I
thought that I would report.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

[Bug 628132] Re: brasero crashed with SIGSEGV in dl_iterate_phdr()

2010-09-10 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
However, processing the crash report to get detailed information for the
developers failed as the retracer did not generate a useful symbolic stack
trace.
Please try to obtain a backtrace manually following the instructions at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload the backtrace (as an
attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your
problem.

[Bug 634886] [NEW] unread mails virtual folder is updated too quickly

2010-09-10 Thread Jeremy Vies
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

As soon as I click on an unread mail in the unread mails virtual folder, it
disappears from this folder.
It is still available in the incoming folder of the appropriate account, so it
is not lost.
The correct behaviour is the one implemented in thunderbird 3.0, where the
unread virtual folder is only updated each time you clik on it, or when you
manually refresh it.

The problem has been observed with evolution 2.30.3 under Maverick.
