[Bug 80365] Re: [master] ASX files that don't play

2010-09-12 Thread Shahin
Trying to play a *.asx file I get the message: „GstDecodeBin2:This appears to
be a text file.“
It seems that asx files which contain a dynamic link produce this message. I
can play the same file in “Windows Media player” immediately! In Ubuntu I have
installed all codecs. It did not help. Neither Totem nor VLC is able to stream
the file.

[Bug 636223] [NEW] [Maverick] DAAP playlists missing

2010-09-12 Thread H3g3m0n
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Description:Ubuntu maverick (development branch)
Release:10.10

DAAP playlists are no longer showing up under the DAAP shares in
Rhythmvox 0.13.1 in Maverik beta.

In 9.10 and 10.04 there was an expand arrow and they appeared under
that. mt-daap has smart playlists that allow you to sort by age of
files, metadata and so on but it no longer appears.

Working fine in Banshee.

into synaptic:

the installed package is named gtk-theme-switch (2.1.0-2) in fact, not
gtk-theme-selector

about gnome-cups-manager, its even worst: this package is outdated:

https://launchpad.net/gnome-cups-manager : dropped since Hardy

so no need to wait for it into repo of course !!!

better to clean gcc sources code

[Bug 595561] Re: Drag and drop of playlist on external device doesn't do anything

mode. You may like to try the bash script linked here:

[Bug 595561] Re: Drag and drop of playlist on external device doesn't do anything

2010-09-12 Thread Aaron Whitehouse
Of course, actual support to drag and drop files would be much better.
The script is just a dirty workaround.

For MTP mode, the bug is here:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=503188

There does not seem to be an upstream bug for supporting the Sansas in
MSC mode, but this would likely require code for each player. As I
understand things, MSC mode means that the device shows up just like a
USB key, so RB would need a database of where each player type stored
its playlists (it doesn't seem to matter on the Fuze) and what format is
used (.m3u on the Fuze), so that it can create the appropriate playlist
and put it in the correct place. It would be great to have, though, as
currently it looks like it should work, but just doesn't.

[Bug 624642] Re: Brasero instead of blanking, destroy DVD-RW

2010-09-12 Thread jonie
Fabio
  @ jonie

  I tested in Maverick and I can confirm that this issue is fixed, but in
  Lucid it was like I said before.

So it's most likely a duplicate of bug 581925
  I've tried much times becouse I use DVD to test iso images, and the
  destroyed DVD are unusable in k3b or in cdcreator, simply not detected,
They are not destroyed, but now you can't use the recorder unless udev
detects the disk. Because of the bug it doesn't.
   and the time that pass between starting fast blanking and the popup of
  message was in the order of 3 -4 seconds, impossible to blank a disk in so
  litle time.

It is possible. The random rewritable media like DVD+RW require just
some sectors at the beginning to be erased. The bare minimum is 64
kilobytes, Brasero does about 4 Megabytes but on DVD it just witihin
second (it takes longer to spin up the disk and start writing)

I still don't have enough information to mark the bug as duplicate, but
very probably it's not in Brasero.

[Bug 636406] [NEW] Mounted gvfs dos not appear in the left pannel of the open dialog

When you have mounted a gvfs, like a FTP server, it appears in the
Places menu and the left side panel of all Nautilus windows, except when
you are in a Open/Browse dialog in a program, and this is when you
often really need it. To get to the FTP you have to go to the ~/.gvfs
folder witch most users do not know of, or how to locate.

[Bug 632810] Re: after editing in EOG with Shotwell, the picture in EOG is not actualized

2010-09-12 Thread YannUbuntu
Other ideas (don't know if feasable) to minimize the impact of this bug in
10.10 :
- add a Reload button in Maverick's EOG
- automatically reload EOG when its editor (Shotwell) is closed.

The Edit picture button added by Ubuntu in EOG makes this bug very
visible by Ubuntu users. This is not a critical bug, but I believe it is
quite important because of its high visibility : everybody who will use
the Edit picture button in EOG will be confused and will think the
editor is broken.

I think we can't leave such a bad user experience in 10.10.

[Bug 609855] Re: Totem unable to play youtube videos

2010-09-12 Thread B Clausius
@Jens
Some file are not streamed, but stored in /tmp/totem-* and played by totem if
fully downloaded. This can take a long time. Please look at /tmp/ directory,
whether there is such a file with increasing size. If so, that's a problem not
related to this bug.

I agree, that can be really bad for the user experience.
If a fix has been committed upstream, then it will be a good idea to patch the
current package with it.

[Bug 573415] Re: g-s-d uses high disk i/o

2010-09-12 Thread Milan Knizek
It would be nice if g-s-d cleans the cache with very low I/O priority to
avoid slowing down other applications, which want to read from the disk
- e.g. firefox almost freezes during g-s-d activity. (In my case, g-s-d
runs almost half a minute each time I log in and computer is very
unresponsive.)

[Bug 140503] Re: mouse cursor looks different in gtk and qt programs

2010-09-12 Thread chmmr
I was able to partially work around this:

1. open KDE's systemsettings app
2. select Keyboard Mouse Mouse Cursor Theme
3. select a DIFFERENT cursor than the current (desired) one
4. click Apply
5. re-select the desired theme
6. click Apply again

I'm using the DMZ (Black) GNOME theme, if that's relevant.

It's possible the bug is with:

A) how that cursor theme's content is laid out
B) the instantiation of GNOME cursor themes in KDE's settings
C) incomplete instantiation of GNOME cursor themes in KDE's settings (even with
the above workaround I still see the KDE Oxygen cursor theme's busy art when
a Qt application is busy)
D) the process for installing or upgrading any of the involved packages (this
install of Lucid was upgraded from Karmic and so on a few versions back, not a
fresh install)

Hope this helps.

[Bug 518368] Re: gdk_display_sync: assertion `GDK_IS_DISPLAY (display)' failed

2010-09-12 Thread nik
I get the two assert lines.
No segfault/crash.
But, I find an instance of gnome-appearance-properties in the background taking
100% CPU.
That is a problem discussed in some older bug-reports and I wonder if there is
any relation.
I have to do a 'killall gnome-appearance-properties' to get the processor back.

My system is running standard Lucid with some customizations on the Ambiance
theme (I think this problem started after I did these changes; but that is not
certain, I recently shifted from Jaunty to Lucid -- new-install, not an
upgrade).
I have all packages updated to current.
Could not locate any specific fix for this processor hog problem and I am not
even sure it is really related to the asserts.
Any light on the relation or lack-there-of would be great. Also, any references
to specific open bugs discussing this will also help.

thanks.

[Bug 240599] [NEW] Doesn't install GConf keys

2010-09-12 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

According to the GNOME Sensors Applet Manual V2.0 (in yelp), there are
two GConf keys that enable advanced features: /apps/sensors-applet/font-
size (int, default 0) and /apps/sensors-applet/hide-units (bool, default
false). These keys are not found after installing the package.

The .deb should add these keys to GConf along with the appropriate
schema so that the settings are discoverable to those of us who browse

[Bug 632358] Re: nautilus-sendto crashed with SIGSEGV in _start()

2010-09-12 Thread Roman Yepishev
Here's brasero plugin info:

static
NstPluginInfo plugin_info = {
// icon;

// gettext_package

// init
init,
// get_contacts_widget
get_contacts_widget,
// validate_destination
NULL,
// send_files
send_files,
// destroy
destroy
};

And here's what libnstbluetooth has:

static
NstPluginInfo plugin_info = {
// icon;
bluetooth,
// id
bluetooth,
// description
N_(Bluetooth (OBEX Push)),
// gettext_package
GETTEXT_PACKAGE,
// capabilities
FALSE,
// init
NAUTILUS_CAPS_NONE,
// get_contacts_widget
init,
// validate_destination
get_contacts_widget,
// send_files
validate_destination,
// destroy
send_files,
//
destroy
};

So it looks like libnstbluetooth has an extra FALSE item now.

[Bug 636612] [NEW] Power management fails after update

2010-09-12 Thread Pete Anderson
Public bug reported:

After updating from 2.6.32-23-generic-pae to 2.6.32-24-generic-pae, my
monitor is no longer being turned off by power management. I'm running
on AC, and my system is pretty much a 'vanilla' 10.04 system. Beyond a
standard 10.04 build, I have only installed VLC, and my data base is on
a second HDD. Power management worked perfectly until the update from
-23- to -24-. I can still drop back to -23- and have power management
working OK. I've tried fiddling with the screensaver and power
management setting, but no luck.

I did the same as comment #38, which was to delete my db file and have
Rhytombox reimport everything. It seems that gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly

install.

[Bug 632358] Re: nautilus-sendto crashed with SIGSEGV in _start() due to broken libnstbluetooth.so plugin_info structure

2010-09-12 Thread Roman Yepishev
Please see https://launchpad.net/~rye/+archive/ppa on the info how to
get the updated gnome-bluetooth package that fixes this bug. If that
works well, then maverick archives will need to be updated, will try to
find a person responsible for gnome-bluetooth in ubuntu tomorrow.

Unfortunately this does not fix the bug in gnome-bluetooth that prevents
it from being used in nautilus-sendto (device list is not loading at
all) but that's a separate issue.
