[Bug 630383] Re: Gnome-terminal paste keyboard shortcut does not work
I'm experiencing this with the Maverick (10.10) Release Candidate for Netbooks. With the default 'terminal' app available via applications. Running it 'Live' from USB stick (i.e. not installed) Not only does Shift+Ctrl+V fail to paste, but Shift+Ctrl+C fails to copy the selected text. Use of the Edit menu options for Copy and Paste does work. Use of Ctrl+Ins and Shift+Ins also does work for Copy and Paste. But for as long as I've been using Ubuntu, Shift+Ctrl+C and Shift+Ctrl+V have been the default key combinations for the Copy and Paste functions in gnome-terminal. People have probably gotten used to this, and might find it confusing to find them no longer working in Maverick. -- Gnome-terminal paste keyboard shortcut does not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630383 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thank you for you help to resolve this trouble. I really appreciate it. Nothing changed; * AC_mode_after_boot_changed - after about 5 minutes screen brightness was increased and AC power mode was activated; * gpm.gconf.values.txt - gpm settings dump. [Bug 406626] Re: Deleted Items Folder inconsistently named in en_GB localisation
OK, I think my reference to the gnome HIG is a bit unfair over this issue :-) [maybe a side-effect of replying at 3am on a Sat night :p ] Because HIG is basically how the _default_ language style needs to be written in Gnome UI and the default language is US English. So everything else is just based accordingly there. As popey mentioned, the translations need to adapt to the locale. The local translators need to decide which sounds more apt for their locale and they weigh in on the benefits. My non-locale view on this is that, this change *is* bringing in new inconsistent to the items from the rest of the system menus. However, the UK translators/users might find this an absolutely necessary change to make. If so, this needs to be done elsewhere too, to maintain a consistent UI. Kindly make the necessary changes elsewhere too. Mostly, everwhere in HIG there is a reference of keeping labels short and for clear, consistent and concise labelling. http://library.gnome.org/devel/hig-book/stable/language-labels.html.en http://library.gnome.org/devel/hig-book/stable/menus-standard.html.en Find Next, Find Previous , From FIle... , Add Bookmark , Edit Bookmarks , need to be changed More items listed at : http://library.gnome.org/devel/hig-book/stable/menus-design.html.en http://library.gnome.org/devel/gdp-style-guide/stable/menu-terminology.html.en http://library.gnome.org/devel/hig-book/stable/menus.html.en This bug is about the inconsistent naming of wastebasket and Deleted items, and was fixed when popey confirmed with screenshot in comment #90, beyond which we have piggy-backed on this bug with another issue. Marking this bug as fixed, while the change to add the/a/an can be discussed in a new a bug for all menu items. [Bug 653685] Re: 2 separate applications for keyring related items
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project. - By default on a Maverick install we only have Passwords and Encryption Keys menu item. Not an issue with the default install hence not a papercut. For further information about papercuts criteria, please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut. Don't worry though, this bug has been marked as Invalid only in the papercuts project. The second one[Encryption and keyrings] i believe *might* be since seahorse-plugins was installed? Or maybe the item was present in earlier releases and was left after upgrade to Maverick. marking as affects seahorse-plugins, If it was due to installing some other plugin kindly change it.. ** Also affects: seahorse-plugins (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: hundredpapercuts Status: New = Invalid ** Project changed: hundredpapercuts = seahorse-plugins ** Changed in: seahorse-plugins Status: Invalid = New ** Changed in: seahorse-plugins (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low -- 2 separate applications for keyring related items https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/653685 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to seahorse-plugins in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I already had some troubles of greater importance when I upgraded ubuntu to 9.10 (can't receive correctly the TV through DVB-S) or 10.04 (ext4 disabled ?). So I do not want to take the risk another time to upgrade ubuntu before I am sure there is no regression. The present system with ubuntu 9.4 is nearly like a production system to me. [Bug 561734] Re: quadrapassel doesn't start: Failed to initialise clutter: Unable to select the newly created GLX context
I solved the problem. Package libclutter-eglx-es20-1.0-0 was installed. I replaced that package with package libclutter-1.0-0 and now quadrapassel works. I installed Ubuntu Netbook Edition from daily image shortly after beta 2. I guess that libclutter-eglx-es20-1.0-0 was default package, but I checked now Ubuntu RC image and libclutter-1.0-0 will be installed default, so everything should be okay. @Linus, could you confirm that installing package libclutter-1.0-0 fixes this bug? -- quadrapassel doesn't start: Failed to initialise clutter: Unable to select the newly created GLX context https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/561734 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-games in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 406626] Re: Deleted Items Folder inconsistently named in en_GB localisation
Hi guys, Please stick to the HIG with this. Deviating from it will introduce ambiguities when translating the documentation. I should also point out that this isn't a localisation issue, it's a stylistic one. We have this terse style in UK English too (newspaper headlines use something similar, for example), and it's perfectly acceptable. It's OK for action labels, like those on buttons or in pop-up menus, to sound disjointed. They're not full sentences; rather they're headings, so there's no need for them to flow. The role of an action label is to quickly identify a function, not to convey meaning, so there's no need for the wording to sound pleasant. This would be different if we were talking about (e.g.) the explanatory text in a dialog box, though. -- Deleted Items Folder inconsistently named in en_GB localisation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/406626 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-applets in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I can achieve this with the command synclient TapButton2=2 TapButton3=3. However, since upgrading to I think Ubuntu 10.04 (I'm currently running the beta of 10.10) every time I suspend/resume, switch to a text console, reboot, or plug in or unplug something from USB the two- and three-fingered tapping are swapped back. I think this is because of hardcoded values in gnome- settings daemon. [Bug 201786] Re: ssh Agent admitted failure to sign using the key on big endian machines
It was Ok when I installed openSSH on this May as soon as ubuntu 10.04 LTS came out. It encountered the same problem as described above when I make another new installation this afternoon. It was resolved after runnig ssh-add ~/.ssh/id_rsa as said on these comments. I found out another thing not mentioned here. There was a file called known_hosts in ~/.ssh/ when I installed on this May. This file known_hosts disappeared when I installed this afternoon, so it failed. The file known_hosts appeared again after runnig ssh-add ~/.ssh/id_rsa, so it was perfect. -- ssh Agent admitted failure to sign using the key on big endian machines https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201786 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 634571] Re: vinagre fails to connect to any VNC server
@waspinator: Before asking such questions, I recommend you first search on how many packages we ship, how many bugs we are currently working on, how many developers we have working on bugs, and how much Ubuntu costs. A little patience and understanding goes much farther, than the attitude you are displaying by your comment. -- vinagre fails to connect to any VNC server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/634571 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to vinagre in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
