[Bug 631696] Re: maximus should only run in netbook-session and not start in gnome-session

2010-10-09 Thread Gary M
@Oliver, I agree with Martin-Éric that I want Maximus to auto-start in a
normal desktop session if installed. I currently use it on a small
screen in a gnome desktop session without UNE or Window Picker.

If maximus appeared in the gnome-session-properties list (Startup
Applications), it could easily be disabled if not wanted.

[Bug 653360] Re: DVD icon disappeares when music cd inserted and reappears when removed

2010-10-09 Thread Jeffrey Lee
Hi Omer
I think it is good that Ubuntu is/has developed the use of the system on a usb
stick. I tried it a while ago. I think i did not follow the instruction too
well. It resulted in the computer looking only on the usb for the operating
system and I'd not copied it properly. So when I turned it on nothing
happened!! Fortunately someone like yourself helped me out, and got it working
again.
I've been a bit reluctant to try again!

I've got some big work commitments this week so will read it carefully next
week and have another go. (As you probably guess I don't work in IT).
Thanks

the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you
can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug.
Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in
the other report. Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may
find.

Two more things: You can move windows that don't fit on the screen by
pressing the ALT key and clicking in the window -- that should allow you
to click any button without blindly tabbing. For the add new mail

Is there a way I can test it from 10.04 LTS? That's all I have access
to, and I don't plan to upgrade before a while.

In any case, it would be great to know this is fixed!

[Bug 657303] [NEW] gnome-about-me changing password doesn't work proper (encrypted home)

2010-10-09 Thread Martin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Hi,

I installed two days ago the desktop computer of my father with Ubuntu
10.10. I enabled the encrypted home directory and set a dummy password.

After that my father starts to use his brand new computer. One of the
first things he did was changing his password, doing this trough
System-Preferences-About me. But starting the next day, the decryption
of his home directory failed. After I bring back the password to the
dummy password every thing works well.

Thanks for reading, I hope you can help.

[Bug 657316] [NEW] Automount of SD cards lead to nautilus and 3g network problems

2010-10-09 Thread Sergio Zanchetta
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Very weird and blocking bug.

Acer TM 6593G

Step to reproduce:
1) Insert a SD card in the internal card reader.
2) it starts to mount/unmount randomly for few times, and a grey area come up
in the middle of the screen on the foreground, covering all stuff put over it
(see screenshot). It's impossible to move away/delete/close.
3) A mount error appear Error mounting: mount: /devmmcblk0p1: can't read
superblock,
4) Then I cannot work on the desktop, like opening folder like Examples or
showing desktop right-click menu. The panel menus instead works correctly.
5) I tried to connect via 3G Internet Key to report the problem, I can
established a connection but I can't connect to a site using firefox (it stucks
on Looking up www.etc.)

The only way to make things work is to log out and in again. (then 3g
connection works again).

[Bug 657316] Re: Automount of SD cards lead to nautilus and 3g network problems

2010-10-09 Thread Sergio Zanchetta

** Attachment added: Screenshot-3.png

https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/657316/+attachment/1680232/+files/Screenshot-3.png

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: nautilus

  Very weird and blocking bug.

  Acer TM 6593G

  Step to reproduce:
  1) Insert a SD card in the internal card reader.
  2) it starts to mount/unmount randomly for few times, and a grey area come up
in the middle of the screen on the foreground, covering all stuff put over it
(see screenshot). It's impossible to move away/delete/close.
  3) A mount error appear Error mounting: mount: /devmmcblk0p1: can't read
superblock,
- 4) Then I cannot work on the desktop, like opening folder like Examples or
showing desktop right-click menu. The panel menus instead works correctly.
+ 4) Then I cannot work on the desktop, like opening folder like Examples,
showing desktop right-click menu or closing a nautilus window opened in
Places-Home for example. The panel menus instead work correctly, I can click
on them.
  5) I tried to connect via 3G Internet Key to report the problem, I can
established a connection but I can't connect to a site using firefox (it stucks
on Looking up www.etc.)

The only way to make things work is to log out and in again. (then 3g
  connection works again).
